Well, I was a fan, it always seemed that more people went in there for their wireless connection than anything else! I had only been in there a few times while living down the street, but to be honest, it was a no frills coffee house with little personality and coffee they brewed was pumped out, never had tried their food of speciality drinks, so not sure what I was missing. The place was a bit cozy and tight for space, but still, it had its run and now time for something new! I think that this location would be great for a coffee house with a bigger name such as «Starbucks» since they can do so much more for the spot, it has everything a larger coffee house would want, location, easy street parking during the morning rush, close to the highway. If not a Starbucks, maybe a Potbellys…

The Beanery was so good!!! I miss you already, I was there only a few weeks ago. After returning from a trip, I found that the Beanery had suddenly closed. The Bucktown Breakfast Bagel was good anytime, and I had multiple variations. Their teas, coffees, and chais were all amazing, caffinated or not. If the owners want to get in touch with a – I guess now-former – regular, then by all means contact me. I will frequent any new place you open in a heartbeat.

I first discovered this place one morning when I was early to work and didn’t feel like going in before my start time. Super cute and cozy place! My favorite sandwiches were the Peanut Butter Banana on a Cinnamon Bagel for breakfast and their Avocado Salmon sandwich for lunch. I was sad to find out recently they had closed their doors. COMEBACKBB!!!

What a great variety~ way more than your typical café! Tons of salads, sandwiches, wraps, and amazing smoothies/drinks. I’ve had the iced basil chai, the oatmeal smoothie, and the peach pear smoothie. All yummy. :) It has a nice chill vibe, too. I wish there were better pastry options, but I tend to get there later in the day so that might just be on me. Free WiFi and typically some sort of Saved by the Bell or some such marathon on. One of the Belly options is to control the TV for an hour! :D I’d like later hours(only open till 6pm) and mayhaps a bit lower prices, but I really enjoy this place and they have excellent healthy options. I’m already a regular and I moved in nearby 2 weeks ago!

I think it tastes good! Everyone who is complaining about the slow service needs to relax. This is a neighborhood business and not a corporate in-and-out. The service has always been fine when I go in and the staff nice. I usually always get the tea and it’s good. I want to try a sandwich someday because they sound really good. Also, they have a case of muffins and brownies and such. People are always there relaxing and working on their computers. There are many tables and chairs for people to use and it’s pretty quiet. A neighborhoody feeling inside. Seems like a normal place to me. I keep going back…

Not sure how I haven’t reviewed this yet since I’ve been a dozen times. Coffee is yummy(much more flavor than stbucks), the staff is always super friendly and cool, and it’s perfect for getting some work done anytime. It’s always moderately busy, but never packed. Good music and free wifi. What more can you ask for?!

the bean is quite alright. i come here often to grab a late morning saturday snack, a coffee, a bagel, and the like. it’s a cute place to go and it’s often busy. the food is decent — will do in a crunch. i’ve gotten the bagel with creamcheese, ham or turkey, lettuce, tomato, onion. it’s not bad. i’ve ordered the lox bagel for my man friend and he really likes it. i do remember ordering a full lunch, 2 sandwiches, chips, dessert, coffee, oj — and they forgot to give me my oj! i was so hungover i almost didnt care but i was worried something was going to go wrong. i think they accidentally switched the bagels on the sammies, too. the staff is nice, but just a little slow and a little disorganized. :( it’s a good place to go if you need to study or just want a coffee break.

Order two medium soy cappuccinos. The total was $ 9.54… Almost $ 5 each?! Upon receiving our drinks they were just a smidgen over halfway full… And tasted very mediocre. It was extremely overpriced for quality and service. I expect better, Bucktown Beanary.

I’ve been driving past this place for years. Finally had a few minutes, so I took a walk on over to the Bucktown Beanery for a bagel and a latte. I think that a new employee was being trained, so things were a little slower than they could have been. No biggie, everyone has to learn their job, so I was a patient and courteous customer. I got a Medium whole latte with an onion bagel with chive cream cheese. I don’t know if its just been 3 standard for-ever’s since I’ve had a good coffee shop bagel, but this one is REALLY good ! The prices on the other items looks fair, so I might drop by for lunch to try one of their sandwiches or wraps. I like it enough to expend the energy on the 10 minute walk in each direction to go back to have it again.

Convenient and quaint, this place is a great stop for a caffeine fix. Not a daily stop, because the downside of this place is the cost. Eeks — and I thought the SB was expensive. I’ve relegated my stops here to once a week(if that) — coming here regularly would be like tossing hundreds out the window a month. As far as the coffee drinks — they’re decent, though my skim lattes have tasted a bit burnt on occasion. However, their sandwiches are a fresh, quick lunchtime. Unfortunately, the handful of times I’ve been here, the service hasn’t exactly been impressively friendly. I usually get the same barista, and each time, all I can think is how disinterested she seems. In the end, the convenience factor will keep me coming back when I’m desperate for a drink to wake me up.

This is such a cutie little QUIET coffee house. They dont have a ton of seating but there is enough. I stopped in on my way to my spa because I had some time to burn. The staff was über friendly and the iced latte was just what my run down mind was craving in my afternoon slump. There are comfy chairs to relax in and table and chairs to study/work on. Like I said, this place was great because it seemed like everyone had an understanding that this place was not the place to be loud. Everyone was quietly doing their thing. It would be a great spot to work.

It might not be the most attractive café on the outside, but its worth venturing inside for. The drinks are consistently good and the baristas are always coming up with new creative drink specials. They always have a nice selection of vegan(and not) snacks in their pastry case as well as a full menu of sandwiches. The atmosphere inside is comfy and the odd collection of books and games is sure to keep you entertained. The staff is not always the most friendly, but a fantastic café anyway.

Cute little coffee shop in Bucktown. A refreshing departure from Starbucks! It felt very kid-friendly to me, which I guess is kind of the textbook definition of «Bucktown.» The coffee here is strong, dark, and smooth, like any good coffeehouse. I’d recommend the Bucktown Beanery if you are looking for a sandwich and a coffee and looking to kill some time while out and about.

I’ve visited the Bucktown Beanery a few times now and have been rather satisfied. I’ve had a wrap, a sandwich, and a few drinks and have been happy with everything I’ve consumed. I think their food tastes fresh and yummy while their pricing is pretty standard. My experience with the staff goes from excellent to blah. It just seems to depend on who’s working. A few of them are very friendly while a few definitely have attitude. I would agree with other reviewers that sometimes it feels like they’re taking forever to prepare the food, but they’re making it. The items are not pre-prepared and packaged. They actually get the ingredients out and make your sandwich/wrap/salad then. I used to also be disappointed that they were only open until 6pm. Apparently they’ve recently extended their hours and they’re now open until 8pm. I’m happy to now have another quick, easy, not too expensive, dinner option close to me.

Along with most of the others here, I’ll agree the staff echoes Intelligentsia with the impassive attitude sometimes. Sometimes. However, hah uhh I wouldn’t put Equal in someone’s coffee for them either when there is a little DIY area right next to you. I’m pretty lazy too, but that’s just too much. I think McDonalds is the only place that puts sugar in your coffee for you?(Which I recently discovered. Not a fan, but hey that’s McDonalds. What good can they do for coffee anyway?) The coffee here is pretty alright. I like the cork thermal things they use. It has some nostalgic smell to it that I like too. It’s never super crowded either, so I can stop really quick before trying to catch my bus.

I will say that this 6 pm thing everyone is so crabby about is a little lame but I can take my butt anywhere else nearby and get coffe so it’s not a big deal to me. They are in a goofy location and the parking isnt plentiful. I didnt spend time there but I will keep it in mind when I want a quiet place to study. They have nice big tables and free WIFI. The two things I love are the tiny dessert bites. I dont always want to eat or pay for a huge brownie or raspberry cheesecake bar. The beanery sells little 3 bite desserts for only 90 cents! Why this is not catching on in more places is beyond me. I also like the fact that they offer a light roast. I dont like my coffee big and bold or dark and burnt. I like a nice smooth blend without a bite or after taste. The little heat protectant ring that goes around the cup(the technical name escapes me) looks like it’s made from recycled cork. Little dessert bites, light roast and environmentally friendly cup thingys will bring my business back to the beanery.

Save yourself the aggrevation. New management does NOT make it better. They still have sloooooooooowest and most unattentive service, blah tasting food, and watery beverages. Not sure why people are so excited about them staying open until 6pm. It’s because it takes them 45 minutes to make a sandwich! And seriously, they must be bribing their friends and family to give them good ratings. They surely don’t deserve it! I don’t want to even give them a star, but the review won’t go through, so that’s why they get a star.

Now open until 6PM on weekends! See what happens when you support local businesses, peeps? And why wouldn’t you support such a lovely, local coffeehouse? Let me break it down for you — coffeeshop style: Drinks/Food: Two types of chai lattes(spice and vanilla)! Beyond that, standard coffee fare. To be honest, I’ve never had the food, but not because it doesn’t look delightful. Music: Oh, can this ever kill the perfect coffee venue! There’s song selection, of course, but volume is also key. I don’t care how awesome that new artist is if they are blaring at me whilst I try to read my book. Bucktown Beanery has this down perfectly. Optimum volume(just above background-noise-level) and impressive collection of tunes(I found myself scribbling down lyrics so I could Google a song later). Seating: Tables(good for studying) and comfy chairs(good for reading). Prices: Well… here they are closer to Starbucks, but as a student of Economics, I get it. ‘Tis what the market will bear. Little Somethin’-Somethin’ Extra: Right below the TV(playing SpongeBob Squarepants on closed captioning during my last visit) is a bookshelf full of games, books, and magazines. I bring my own reading material, but I still tend to flip through some of the books. Kudos also for having games for kiddies who may be accompanying parents to the Beanery.
