I really enjoyed this place while I was there. They really have great music, drinks & respectable staff.

I attended an event here and I had a good time. The atmosphere is nice, dark, and intimate. It is very clean and the patrons were mature and classy. There is limited seating.

Came here for an event last night. Fairly small venue, so if you like to sit, get there early. Got a long Island for $ 11. It was mixed strongly so I got my monies worth. I’d like to see how it is during the weekend.

Pretty cool lounge. Music is always nice. It’s a small spot so early arrival is suggested if you like sitting. The drinks are ALWAYS strong. I always get the Long Island Iced teas.(Flavored) Raspberry is my preference. Last night they were out so I had watermelon which was tasty too. The bartenders attitudes are so so. Last night we had a guy that was cool. He bought us all shots. NICE. Some nights I’ve paid $ 5 to get in, some nights it’s free. Dk why. Cool spot 2 go chill I’d say.

Typical small, lounge. I’m mainly a fan because they show Mayweather fights & games. Lol. I stayed after a fight for the music. I wouldn’t recommend it late night. Get there early due to limited seating & nearby parking & free entry. No cocktail menu(or I don’t remember one) so be prepared. Decent drinks & prices. You can bring in food. I’ve ordered from the Harold’s Chicken across the street once. There’s also another chicken place and pizza place next door. Comedy night is cool.

They are extremely unprofessional. The management is delusional and don’t know how to resolve problems. They had the audacity to charge us $ 96 for a bottle of Sutter Home Chardonny. Ridic! They think they are some upscale nightclub to charge $ 100 for a bottle of Sutter Home Chardonny– Not! Was trying to support a local business but they gouge you on prices and that’s unacceptable. Treat your customers with respect and they will come back. We definitely will not be coming back…

I actually liked this place even though its small. I’ve been twice on a friday. There was a 10 $ cover. The venue is upscale and the DJ was awesome. However, the drink service and bar waitresses are rude. They walk around you, ignore you, and have terrible attitudes. The drinks are average 10 $ and I had to wait thirty minutes or throw my hands in the air just to get service. What I did notice however if you weren’t a guy with a hand full of money or asking for bottle service then yes you are waiting forever for a drink.

Had a good time on a Saturday night! Timely bottle service, chill and fun crowd, no wait and no hassle! Pretty intimate space with seating around the exterior. The DJ was good and played a variety of music old school hip hop, new hip hop, reggae, etc. All feel good stuff. First time to Chicago and looking forward to checking out more spots next time!

Probably the worst experience I had out in a long time. The bar was filthy, bartenders were not tending to every guest and watching them make drinks were not up to professional standards… The DJ was terrible. I will never return to this place again.

My sister and I went to this place on Saturday and was charge $ 20 to get into this small ass place. We found out later that it only cost us $ 10 because we were apart of a birthday party. There aren’t enough sitting for women who like to wear heels and want to dance. The VIP section is a sectional couch that is divided into 3 sections. The music was horrible and not mixed properly. The manager was nasty when my sister and I were trying to speak to him about the $ 20 cover charge. I would never go back there again. The best thing about this place was the free parking. I’ve been to better places besides the Velvet Lounge for less. Anyone that pays $ 20 to get into this place is dumb. I wasn’t expecting to be charge $ 20 to go into a 4×4 room. I’ve never paid it before and will never pay it again.

I was so excited to check this place out. Didn’t know there was a $ 10 cover. Aside from that when it came to ordering a drink, it was horrible. Directly at the bar, I actually asked the young lady(bartender)with curly hair if we can get a drink when she finished the one she was working on she said ok. What felt like 10 minutes passing she took walk up orders, had side conversation, did everything but took our order. Got to the point that I asked the couple next to us if they can order for us and they did. At that point we were asked what did we want. Did I tip, I most certainly did not. The DJ was off. Songs going in and out. A couple points there was no music. Among other issues. Overall I don’t plan to come back anytime soon. Not sure how to feel about this place.

I came to the velvet lounge during a party bus stop for a bachelorette party. The venue is fairly small and with the amount of woman on the party bus we basically filled majority of the lounge. The DJ was the main reasoning for us leaving so soon after arriving. He was terrible. Out of all the 45 minutes of us being there not once did we actually dance, because of the music choice. Their drink specials were a little over priced for them to be drink specials. Although we didn’t stay long it seemed like a nice place to go to on a kind of quiet low key kinda night. Definitely not a club atmosphere and if that’s what your looking for you might want to go to another place. I might try it out again maybe it will be different since I wouldn’t be with a large group. Overall I give this place three stars.

So I didn’t catch the live music. I was here for a friends Dirty 30 party and it was all you’d want. The music was poppin, the drinks were good, and the crowd was solid. A good mix of folks. As the only guy amongst a group of 8 – 10 girls, I got to watch more than my fair share of dudes roll up and try to figure out who I was with so they could spit game at the other ones. They were all polite and respectful and took their rejections in stride hahahaha. Definitely a good spot if you want to get away from the 20 something crowd but still have a little life left in you. I’ll be back for some of the live music.

This place has been here for years but I never had a chance to stop in until this past Friday. I must say that it was definitely a pleasant surprise. Nice upscale bar, limited but comfortable seating, and friendly service. The drinks were very good and reasonable. The lounge area is pretty small but you will definitely have a good time here. The DJ kept the party live. I will definitely come back.

Soul Sessions Live hosts live entertainment every Wednesday from 7:00 to 10:00 pm, doors open at 6:00 pm. Music genres include Jazz, Soul, Latin, and R&B. What a great afterwork set. Plenty of eateries, street parking, minutes away from LSD(Lake Shore Drive), I94, and Blue or Red Line elevated trains. Drink Specials…

One of my favorite things to do is listen to live music and Velvet Lounge definitely caters to that. I went on a Thursday evening not knowing what to expect(as I’d only been here on a weekend months ago), but I was pleasantly surprised! The talent was applause-worthy! Singers(male and female) that are from the city of Chicago were the highlight and the band was pretty awesome. Thursday night came with $ 7 Long Islands. Delicious. Ive honestly never had a bad drink from here to my recollection anyways. The venue itself — love the urban, upscale feel! Tables with white cloths all around, reserved seating areas, and of course, bar space. Get there early as the space can get a little congested. I think I rubbed against some chicks feet walking out because she was stretched out like she was at home. *side eye* Other than that, the crowd is pretty mature and fun-loving. Great place for an evening cap!

Been here a few times. The venue is small and often gets crowded depending on what event is going on. Given the layout and ambiance, I think its a little pricey on the drinks side. The place isn’t much to look at. But it has some comfortable couch seating if you do manage to get there early enough to snag you one. One of the things I do like about it is depending on the event, you are allowed to bring food in to eat. I recently went on a Tuesday for a comedy show and there were a bunch of people with outside food. And sometimes you may luck out and get a drink special. But make sure you ask because the bartenders won’t tell you. Same thing with the bouncers at the door. They may try to get you to pay a cover charge. So if you RSVP’d for something, make sure you mention it or have something showing you should get in for free. Otherwise they will try to get you for a cover. Tip: Make sure you ask if it’s any specials going on.

I rsvp’d for it on eventbrite party last Friday night. TIP: The bouncer won’t ask if you are there for a party or rsvp’d for an event. He’ll just quote you the price to get in unless you SPEAKUP! I’m not shy, so I did, and he pleasantly granted us our free entry. Otherwise it was $ 10. Reasonable. But free-99 is always better. It was around 11:15/30 so it wasn’t too busy. There wasn’t a coat check which sucks in Chicago winter. [That’s another cash cow opportunity owner! We’d pay for a coat check. We would!] Anyway, the venue isn’t very big so within an hour it was packed like sardines in there! The DJ was on point and the vibe was chill. We had such a great time and literally danced the entire night. Drinks were reasonably priced too and it never took too long to get served. I’d check it out again. It’s a nice local, chill spot to add to the list if you aren’t trying to go too far, pay too much or deal with any drama. I’m with it!

First impression was great! I was invited here by some friends to watch the NBA Playoffs. Half of my friends are Heat fans, and the other half are anti-Miami. I only love the Bulls but for this playoff season I was cheering for the Spurs to kick some Miami ass. Any who… the Velvet Lounge. It’s very velvet-y in there. I can’t say how it is on your average night, but on this night all the TVs were tuned in to THE game. I don’t know how their food is, since the kitchen was closed this night. We all got food from the pizzeria next door and it was good. I like that the lounge let us get food from elsewhere since they weren’t serving any. My friends all ordered the«Turn Up» drink which tasted like heavily spiked fruit punch. They were served in small pitchers which I found amusing. It’s not a large place. I like the intimacy of it. to the left there is a stage and along the back wall is the bar. Not much to the place. But like I said, it’s velvety true to its name. Drinks were good. Food(from next door) was good. Atmosphere was great. I had a great time.
