Ugly Hookah Café

Terrible ambience. Too bright, no music, only one tv was on with no subtitles, and we were seated by the door and my friends and I couldn’t hear each other talk because the industrial fans in the doors were too loud. Also, the furniture is a really random assortment of couches and armchairs so yet again, you are very far away from whoever you came with so you cant even have a conversation with them.
However, I really enjoyed the «custom» hookah. Only reason for the 2 stars. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone unless you’re looking for a late night hookah bar (which my friends and I were) otherwise I go elsewhere.

Ugly hookah. Because it’s really ugly inside. For real guys it’s time to spend some money on remodeling and clean this place. Also hookahs are a little dirty you can’t feel the taste.
Prices are okay. Never crowded. So 2 out of 5. Thanks.

The menu said hookah was $ 15 and tea was 6. I ended up paying 28 before tax! She also charged my friend $ 4 for a can of coke. I am Arab; the hookah was bad and the place was too smokey.

By far the worse hookah bar I have visited. I was handed a broken hookah, and the drinks definitely none too delicious. Broken hookah. Poorly made hookah (flavor wise) and disgusting drinks rickety broken chairs.
There’s only so much you can expect from a hookah lounge.
The hookah, the shisha itself, the atmosphere and cleanliness of the place, the drinks and or food if offered.
This place has managed to fail in all categories.

Bad Hookah bar. Hookah is too expensive and low quality.. They never clean the hookah they use the same old water from other smokers. You can see it especially from rhe duck tape they put on each hookah. Service is the worst. They never come to you and ask for anything only that if you want your check. you have to go up front to ask for anything you need and they still add the 20% tip to the bill. The only reason I give 2 stars is because the owner is a cool guy.

Hookah is great which gives it the two stars available. But atmosphere is very strange and dingy. Worst is when I was given a cold shoulder for not tipping. Since they seldom check how you’re doing and all they do is make hookah I wasn’t aware that gratuity was necessary.

I would say the hookah is good but the atmosphere is really sketchy especially at night there is a weird diverse crowd. I wouldn’t come back.

The place was really ugly as the name. No effort to give it a decent décor. It looked like they had some old couches at home that they we’re going to throw away, but just decided to put them in there instead and if they used recycled all the chairs from a previous restaurant or something.
Also the coffee that I had, was really poorly done had way too much cream and way too like coffee.
Not to mention the environment was a bunch of loud middle eastern men throwing small fireworks and cursing at each other!!! Like seriously?.Although the place had a variety of flavors, I will definitely not go back a second time, it just did not cut it for me.

Came here last night for the first time in a long time. No bad past experiences, just hadn’t been here for quite some time. It may not be the most upscale hookah bar but their hookah itself is good. It’s clean, smooth and doesn’t burn. It hits really well and really strong for a while, without having to re-​charcoal. I consider myself a hookah veteran. I’ve been smoking hookah for a while so I know what’s good and what isn’t and this place is good. Lot of regulars there which makes for repeat business. Place was crowded but not packed. Will definitely return sooner than last time.

When it comes to hookah, this is the place you go to. The place is cool and chill. The decoration isn’t that amazing but the hookah and service is really damn cool. The flavor they have are really good. I got blueberry and grape and it’s soooo nice.

Great hookah just wish it was cleaner especially the bathroom. No effort in the design or look but hookah is always good.

I don’t understand the mandatory 15% gratuity– can somebody explain? How am I supposed to pay this gratuity when the place is Self-​Service? ie after they bring your hookah and drinks, DON’T expect anyone to ask if ya need something. In conclusion, this place is greatly overrated, and highly priced. Surprisingly, they seem to be good at math, as they automatically round up numbers– my after tax, after gratuity bill of 39.5 suddenly became 40.00 WOW! I need that extra 50 cents for parking :(LOL I would not come back again. The second star is for the friendliness of the staff, and the quality of hookah.

This place deserves a zero because we received zero service. I am a Northeastern student and came to this place with my three friends.
We ended up sitting at this BYOB joint with no hookah and no service for over an hour and a half. At the beginning there was a discussion with the waitress over which hookah flavor we would get. She explained to us the minimum requirements and herself suggested that we might not need to purchase 3 hookah. She took our order for two and never came back. It was the strangest thing because other people were being served.
I don’t know what to say about that. Also, some guy was sitting against the back wall by the register and bathrooms staring at us the whole time. Not sure if he was a manager owner or security guard. But no one ever said anything to us either.
Another thing, we were unable to see the blackhawks game properly because at the time they were playing on comcast and the tv stream is stolen off the internet.
Don’t come to this place. I hear the hookahs are dirtyy anyway.

If I could give this place no stars I would. My first and last experience here. I stupidly ruined my FIRST hookah bar experience on this place. The only positive thing I can honestly say about this place is their mixed drinks are lovely.
I understand this place caters to a much older crowd, preferably 40s and up and Persian. Persian music, Persian television channel all day everyday from what I gather. The interior is rather dingy, the lighting is very different for a hookah bar so girls if you’re on a date and you think you look like crap don’t come here. The chairs are rickety, and my hookah experience overall was highly upsetting. I was given a crappy hookah contraption that kept breaking apart, and the hose didn’t even feel clean. An avid smoker knows if a hose is clean or not.
I understand they had never seen me before and I may look like I know nothing about tattoos or hookah, but seriously don’t judge a book by its cover.
I live right down the street and due to this crappy experience, Carthage and NP see me at least 3 – 4 times a week and receive generous tips !

So far 2 times I’ve been there and I liked the hookah, the place really needs to be renewed because it it not so great inside. The waitress was kind of slow but she had so many tables so she could do what she could.

My man Nedaal hooks up the hookah very well, try the watermelon mint!
The wait staff is very friendly and always willing to help.
Great place to hang out and watch the games with friends or just relax.

Sooo my bf is in love with this place because according to him they have veeerrrry good hookah… Me being not a big hookah lover I see the place for all the other things that it… doesnt provide me.
It is cleaner than it used to be, but it would for sure use more clean-​ups. Their bathrooms are no longer as awful as they used to be, but not amazing. The cards that they give you to play with are diiiirty and leave your hands black, I kid you not. Yes thank you for providing complementary cards to use while there, but investing 50 cents, even a dollar for a new deck once a month isnt going to break the bank.
One thing that I really like, their smoothies are made in the house and are veeerryy good. Have one for sure!

Walked by it all the time going to class… finally went in when friend’s didnt want to hit Carthage (the usual spot). It is Ugly and a bit cramped in there but the safe is awesome and the flavors are yummy!

This is an updated review.
Before 2010, I enjoyed my time spent there with friends smoking hookah, catching up, and relaxing.
Most hookah bars are usually fairly similar.
What sets them apart is the:
1) Atmosphere
2) People/​service
3) Quality of hookah
1) The atmosphere used to be nice. But they changed the color of their walls to a puke green color. It really looks ugly… just as the name implies.
2) Their service was ATROCIOUS. One of our servers forced us to chug our water bottles we had brought it. Our other options were to throw them away or give them to her to confiscate. Mind you, the bottles were only filled with water. Our bill was outrageous, and the service was terrible. Whats worse than bad service and being forced to pay tip? Ridiculous.
3) Their hookah was decent, however it will get you buzzed so fast you wont really be able to smoke it for more than 10 minutes total.
I highly advise anyone thinking of going here to avoid it at all costs.

Worst staff ever. I felt like the staff was watching me the whole time as if we were doing something bad. I was extremely uncomfortable and the prices are ridiculous.

My boyfriend and I were browsing Unilocal looking for a hookah lounge to visit and we were both in awe to see this place receive such great reviews.
It looks like an over-​crowded cafeteria full of underaged girls looking for attention and a crap load of gangster wanna-​be Middle-​eastern dudes straight out of high school. Besides the lack of ambiance and the not-​so-​pleasing crowd the tobacco was TERRIBLE. It had no real flavor and started to burn almost immediately. I would never go to this place again and recommend that nobody else does either.
