Well I’ve been frequenting this establishment for about a year and a half now on a somewhat regular basis and generally find it to serve very good pizzas. The business itself is a combination pizza joint and Mexican bakery which to me sounds like a weird combination, however they do excel quite a bit over the Italian restaurant just about a hundred feet away on the other side of the street. I love the fact that their crust is a thin crust with a really nice garlicky butter flavor on the crust. Normally I throw away the crust on pizzas since I don’t care for dried out bread, but this tastes so good I always eat it all! If you’re a fan of deep dish pizzas then this place may disappoint you since as far as I know they do not offer a pan pizza. I can’t honestly say this is the best pizza I’ve had in my almost 2 years of living here in The Windy City, but I can say without hesitation that they do make one of the best pizzas I’ve had the pleasure of eating here. As far as the bakery products go I’m not really that thrilled, but in all fairness to them their bakery products are the same as other Mexican bakeries I’ve tried and none of them really thrill me. I think it’s just that I’m an old white guy who grew up in an all white small town with no exposure to ethnic foods so don’t give my opinion on their bakery products too much weight in your decision to try their products. There is however one bakery product that they do make that I do love. Hopefully I’ll get the name correct. I believe it’s called«bolillos con queso y jalapenos». Basically it’s a large roll that has cream cheese and jalapeño slices inside it. As you can probably guess I am not into spicy foods, but I love those rolls since for some reason the jalapenos have a little heat to them, but not enough to make me sweat much. I suspect the reason the jalapenos in them are bearable to me and I can actually taste the flavor is that they have been seeded before being used in these rolls. Even if you’re like me and can’t stand much heat I’d encourage everybody who likes jalapeño flavor but doesn’t like the usual intense burning to try these awesome rolls. They do also have a small but fairly diverse selection of other meal items and also offer hot wings(I’ve tried their barbecue wings and they were a touch to spicy for me, but like I say I don’t tolerate heat well) so you may want to consider some of their other meal options also. As far as dine in facilities go they do have around 10 tables and the place is clean and adequate, but it is not someplace you’d take a lady to impress her with the ambiance. It’s very clean and the cashiers are all friendly(fluent in both English and Spanish). You’ll need to go to the cashier to place your order since there is not table service with a menu like in most restaurants. The furniture is booths that are not padded, but they are in very good condition and well cleaned so it’s a perfectly fine place to eat, it’s just not a first date kind of place. If you enjoy a good thin crust pizza with an excellent tasting crust then I’d strongly encourage you to try this establishment over Mama Luna’s which is the Italian restaurant nearby since I think this place definitely outdoes them. If you live in this area they do deliver so that’s another plus for this place. Ask about their daily pizza specials.
