Got here early on a Saturday morning to avoid the long waits. I’ve driven by late mornings and always see people waiting outside. No waiting for me in this cold weather, I’ll get up early to avoid that cold wait! WHISK did not disappoint. Loved the interior – wood tables and booths. Loved the décor – paintings and graffiti art. Loved the service – since it was early and not so busy my son and I had a nice time chatting with the the wait staff, they were super friendly and I hope to see them when we return. And I do plan on returning. Breakfast was delicious. I planned a Saturday visit because they only have Benedicts on the weekends. The whole menu looks good, but if you know me, you know I have a penchant for Benedicts. They do have a small, but nice kids menu too – not on the website but printed on their chalkboard. I opted for the BLT Benedict(English Muffins topped with fresh spinach, tomato, bacon, poached eggs and pesto hollandaise). I chose to sub fruit for the house potatoes so I could order a side of chimichurri fries. My son chose the Fat Elvis waffles(a waffle sandwich with peanut butter and bananas). Other than the poached eggs being a little over done, my dish was perfect. The bacon was meaty and the spinach and tomato were fresh. The hollandaise was good, the pesto adding a bit of zing. My tip – put Benedict ingredients(sans english muffin) on top of some of the chimichurri fries – now THAT is a flavor explosion. Those chimichurri fries are delicious and one day I might just have them as my meal – it’s a huge portion so over half came home with me. My son loved his waffles – it is basically just waffles, PB and bananas, but I appreicate the simple ingredients put together to make it fun and interesting for kids. It’s BYOB. They’ll supply the juice for your mimosas! And if you forget your adult alcohol of choice, there is a Mariano’s right across the street.

Love, Love, Love!!! This place is great! Walking in you notice that it is a small space, seating about 40 people. The décor is fun, and very inviting! The food is awesome! I tried the House Burger, and it was cooked to perfection, and the flavors were on-point!!! My partner had another burger, which right now I cannot place the name of, but he said it was just as good… these guys know what they are doing for sure… What a fun place to walk into on a Sunday evening and enjoy some grub!!!

After reading Unilocal reviews that insinuated seating preference based on racial demographic to others raving about the food, I wasn’t sure what to expect. One of the owners(Rick Rodriguez) must have some Hispanic connection,(ya think???) so I’m guessing the anti-Latino comments were unfounded . The food here was good, albeit a few bucks higher than other«contemporary breakfast/dinner BYO’s of its ilk.(Over Easy, Yolk, etc). We had a «Steak Hash» and a «Brisket Hash» @, $ 13.50 and $ 14.50 respectively. Deep fried potato cubes covered with the protein, sautéed veg, sauce, and 2 eggs prepared to your liking. The brisket was on the drier side, and the pepper jack sauce must have reached too high a temp, as it was separated. The steak hash was tender and the poblano sauce was the proper consistency . (Truthfully, if you enjoy a «beefy breakfast skillet«, check out the«Hombre Skillet» for $ 10 @ Firewater Saloon in Edison Park. The unctuous short ribs, smoked cheddar, onions and peppers and eggs will blow you away .) Whisk is located in a small rehabbed storefront. 3 – 4 huge booths that could easily accommodate 6 each, take up half of the restaurant. There’s one communal table that seats 8 – 10, and 4 deuces on a banquette. Better space planning would have allowed for at least an additional 10 – 12 seats. Bottom line, U will wait for a table during busy times. Tables are equipped with a large wooden«toolbox«organizer which holds silverware & condiments. It’s a total space hog. On tables for 2, it takes up 50% of the table, making it really cramped once there are water glasses and coffee cups. Not the best use of space . Type font on the menu is so small, two other tables(in addition to ours) were using the light on their phone to decipher it! Not because there wasn’t enough light, the type is impossible to see. I will give Whisk a 3.0 for the food, and a 1.0 for the vibe and design of the space. It was enjoyable enough, and if in the area again on a weekday, I might give it another try.

I’ve been twice for brunch and Whisk delivered both times. The restaurant is small and may not be the best for large groups. A wait can build quickly — we arrived at 10 and by 10:30 a small wait had formed. We’ve had good service each time we’ve been in. They are friendly and quick. I often vet a new brunch spot by ordering the Eggs Benedict. It is simple but I find is a good measure and comparison(and believe it or not, many do not pass). Whisk did not disappoint. The eggs were perfectly poached, the english muffin toasted and was the perfect amount of crispy, and a solid hollandaise sauce. They also cooked the breakfast potatoes crispy as requested. I’ve also have tried the Ukrainian Scramble which was also delicious. I’ve had great tastes of the Mexican Scramble and the Buffalo Chicken Hash. I will say the Buffalo Chicken definitely has more of a kick than expected. The eggs, avocado and ranch balance the dish out but I could see my mouth getting a bit warm if I ate the whole thing. Great orange juice and the coffee gets a thumbs up too. The portions are generous without being ridiculous. It is very reasonably priced. As others have noted, BYOB across from Mariano’s is nice. Excellent brunch spot!

Ah! Brunch! Whisk has been listed in miltiple places for being an excellent spot for brunch in Chicago. Me, freshly starving and disturbed after attending a childbirth class, needed some consolation… in the form of something edible. I arrived at Whisk at about 12pm. EXTREMELYBUSY! The place isn’t big at all and I happened to be waiting behind a party of 17, that originally started off as only 13. Sheesh! That’s like freakin half of the place. The hostess advised that the wait would be about an hour. To me, why waddle somewhere else?! I went and walked around Mariano’s across the street while waiting. By the time I waddled back, there was another wait for about 15 mins and then finally, A TABLE! I decided to have the biscuits and gravy with potatoes and scrambled eggs. You can tell that EVERYTHING is homemade. It was so hearty and filling. Also ordered was the caramel apple french toast. Delicious! The portions are very generous; there is no way you’re leaving hungry! I noticed a great kids menu and even saw that they have wings that have won competitions. I’m sure they don’t disappoint. If you’re going to attend for brunch, try to arrive after the brunch rush and get there around 130 or 2. Regardless, be prepared for a wait. However, the food is beyond worth it. Enjoy the food coma!

Close to home BYOB Tasty and delicious food Cool staff Not too long of a wait shocking on a Saturday at 11 am — expect 30 mins or so but that’s typical for a good brunch spot Robust menu I think everything on the menu looked great and it was pretty hard to choose just one item. I ordered the steak hash, my friend had the veggie croissant WITH bacon and another friend had the David’s Special(shrimp and grits). We were all super happy and ate everything on our plates. I’d definitely come back and try the David’s Special… I got a little taste and was like yeah… that’s all me next time! Our server, D(aniel) was pretty cool too. He was witty/quirky/spunky/fun.

I’d heard about Whisk a while and finally had the chance to try it this weekend. Great little spot in the Ukrainian Village with friendly service, a pretty diverse menu, and it’s byob! I ordered the Chorizo Burger and loved it. Chorizo mixed with the ground beef? Yes please. My friend got the House Burger and thought it was great as well. We had the chips and guac for an appetizer and it was the best guacamole I’ve ever had… spicy and perfectly seasoned. All that being said, Whisk is your typical little burger spot with a menu that can be found anywhere… I’ll go back if I’m in the area!
