This is a 7 – 11 now but the former White Hen has kept some of it’s roots in check. They offer sandwiches daily along with a deli if you’re in need of lunch meat or cheese. There is some selection of fruit if you’re looking for a healthier lunch. Otherwise, a great selection of munchies and other items you’d expect from a convenience store. The staff is also extremely friendly and helpful. A rather large parking lot is a huge plus here too. As someone else mentioned, this is a huge police hangout. It’s almost surprising not to find an on-duty officer inside hanging out. So if you’re someone who gets worried about a late night stop at the convenience store, this place is easily the safest place you can find.

Quite possibly the safest establishment in the city, a constant rotation of Chicago’s finest hangs out here twenty four hours a day enjoying free coffee. That being said, this might not be the best place to drive to when drunk… not only fear, they will smell the booze on you too. A. Reasonably priced booze of minimal selection till 2 — check B. Fresh White Hen Style sandwiches when in a time crunch — check C. 8 different coffees in the pot — check D. Dancing Midgets — unfortunately not E. Slurpees that go great with vodka or rum — check F. Munchies to calm the stomach after too many shots of makers at Delilah’s down the street — check G. The staff keeps it real — check Lack of dancing midgets constitutes the 4 and not 5 star review.

This place is on fire! No I don’t mean that in the sense that it’s awesome/popular, no, that was my thought half way through my visit there one summer’s day. I was walking walking down Lincoln heading SE to make my way to the beach, wearing sunglasses and sound-isolating earbuds. I walked in and thought it was a little dark but attributed it to the sunglasses. I went to the back, grabbed a vitamin water and headed towards the register. It was at about this point when I realized the building was on fire, it wasn’t just dark, it was smokey. Luckily it hadn’t gotten out of control(yet?) and firefighters were on the scene before I had a chance to even leave(needless to say I had to go elsewhere for my vitamin water). Overall, when this White Hen isn’t on fire it is an adequate 24 hour convenience shop in Lincoln Park. Drinks, hot/cold sandwiches, candy and the like are all here along with a few toiletries. Nothing special, but it will get the job done when you need something simple to eat/drink or run out of vital bathroom/kitchen amenities.
