First time, good experience. My coffee and churro were fresh and tasty. Place and seating is unaesthetic, very run down, but I’ll let that slide because we’re in a recession and it seems like a small family business. Their whole concept is nice and creative; the menu is simple but to the point. The people working there were polite and attentive. Can’t wait to try their funnel cakes. Seems like this place would be great to stop by during the summer. Thank you.

The churros are good if eaten right away. The cream cheese churros is my favorite but the strawberry one is also pretty good.

THE best churros! I never ever liked the stuffed ones, im a plain jane churro girl but these cream cheese filled ones are AMAZING! i also needed some in bulk(300 to be exact) and they were so accomodating even though it was short notice(1 day). Plus, they are very affordable. Yum!

The churros are fresh and as amazing as you would imagine for a place that specializes in churros. While there I saw a lady getting a couple dozen so keep this place in mind when you’re trying to think of ways to impress your colleagues and don’t want to bring donuts again.

The churros are amazing, super warm and soft! If the review was strictly for the churros then yes 5 stars for sure! Buttt the reason it gets 3 stars is bc I came in on a Sunday afternoon and it was super dead. There was 5 visible workers behind the counter and the girl who helped us worked EXTREMELY slow. If a turtle was making my churro sundae the turtle would of taken the win. She moved super slow and she dragged her feet back and forth between ingredients. … super annoying! Also, to have 5 employees just standing there doing nothing there should be a reason why ALL your tables were dirty –__–

The funnel cake, Ice cream, and churros really are amazing! the atmosphere is not great but its not horrible, now the«Customer service» leaves a lot to be desired. Not very friendly, no eye contact, this was my first time there and I felt like I was being rushed and there no customers behind me, my son got a churro sundae and I didn’t know it came with only a plain churro with no filling so I ask my son what kind of filling did he want the cashier said«well you didn’t pay for any, that cost more» I’m like you didn’t ask and there is no sign, then rudely ask AGAIN«is there anything else» I’m sure when this place opened they were really nice, giving menu recommendations, advising the customer on the product!

There is a God… and he created Xocoatl. This place restored my faith in the world. If a place like this can exist, everything will ultimately be ok. The store itself looks kinda grungy and sparse, but please do not let this fool you. The tables and chairs weren’t really clean, and overall, the atmosphere was lacking. But never mind, because the churros were bomb. I am a churro purist; I do not like anything in, on, or around my churros. So I ordered three plain churros. They have a huge variety of churros, and all the types of ways you can eat a churro: in ice cream, filled with cream, filled with chocolate, in a hot fudge sundae, the works. It took a while to receive the churros… BECAUSETHEYMAKETHEMFRESH!!! They are not just sitting under a warmer. I came in half an hour to closing, and they still made them fresh. Holy mother of god I have found the holy grail. I want more churros.

I was in heaven walking into a place that smelled like funnel cake! I love how they had a very creative menu. On certain days they have different churro filling flavors such as peanut butter or even Nutella. The cashier was very helpful explained to me what each and every different kind of churro they had. I’m glad I came across this place. I will definitely visit again.

I have been going through a bit of a churrofaze lately. For some reason churros scream summer to be more than say, a cupcake. I stumbled upon xocoatl aka the churros factory once day while Unilocaling. I decided since it was just a hop skip and a jump from my house I would check it out. Pleasantly surprised! These are what churros are all about, this small unassuming shop is half ice cream parlor, half churro heaven. They have standing vanilla, chocolate and strawberry filling flavors but also a rotating flavor of the day, fom peanut butter, nutella, guava and a few more. I opted to keep it simple with chocolate and vanilla and they were both great, the churros are made to order so they are piping hot and covered in cinnamon sugar goodness. I will definitely be back for some of the other flavors!

This is a sweet thing that you can not find in the area. Many latin bakeries dropped making churros and focus on other things. So, it is definitely a good place to get a churro. It was a good one. Choco filled churro was my favourite so far. Funnel cake, agan another rare item that you need to commute a lot to find in the north side. So, very good idea to bring such sweet taste into the neighborhood. They actually do it good. The crowd is from all over the place, mostly attracting youngsters and hispanics. They could have decorate the place little bit better to give a classy look. The kitchen behind the counter seemed clean though. Ice cream. Majority of the latin paleterias, ice cream places and sweet shops like this; they do not produce their own blend of ice cream. There is one major supplier that distributes the ice cream all over the city. It is a below average ice cream, but still goes ok on the top of the funnel cake. If you carefully look at the boxes you will that the manifacturer is all the same for these places. In overally, this is an ok place to supress your sweet cravings and I would go again.

Fried dough and ice cream have never gone better together. My brother and I were exploring the new Bloomingdale Trail, and I wanted to stop here before heading back east. This turned out to be a very good idea. Xocoatl is pretty crowded, so it took about 10 minutes to pull the churros and the sundaes together. I got a churro sundae with brownie ice cream and a café olla /coffee with cinnamon. First of all, coffee with cinnamon is really good. The coffee itself wasn’t strong but the coffee flavor gave it a certain kind of sweetness. I’m pretty sure they didn’t use cinnamon syrup; with the amount of cinnamon in the coffee the sweetness would have knocked my socks off. But the churro. The churro was very, very good. It was warm and a bit doughy in the center, in a good way. Great flavor. The exterior was quite crisp. Cinnamon and sugar doused each stick in abundance. This was probably better than a funnel cake sundae, and that’s saying something. Xocoatl sells a bag of a half dozen churros. You should get it, because a freshly fried churro here is about as good as it gets.

Tried this for the first time about a week ago. I liked my boyfriends spice Mexican coffee better than my macchiato. It’s different! The churros were good and freshly made. My only complaint is that when I got there the girl was stuffing churros with filling and saw me standing there for a few min with my boyfriend waiting. A family walks in after and when she finishes filling she turns around and looks past us and takes the other guys order! Hello I’ve been standing there 5 min clearly before anyone else. The guy realized it after and apologized for ordering before us but I told him not to worry it wasn’t his fault. I’ll be coming back for more churros so hopefully I won’t be ignored!

Amazingly good churros! I didn’t like the vanilla filling, but the chocolate and strawberry were good. I bought a dozen to bring to work for Mothers Day and EVERYONE loved them, even the picky eaters.

So I live about a block from this place and never knew it was that good. So your probably wondering why the 3 start review? Well, we ordered and waited 10 minutes, just to find out that our order wasn’t even in the works. When I and my wife asked about our order, after watching 3 people order and leave, the person behind the counter asked what we wanted on our sundae. Something she could have done from the beginning, when I ordered and paid. So 5 stars for food, 2 stars for service = 3 stars for me.

Cute ice cream and churro shop, with the latter made and filled fresh when you order. We tried the cream cheese and the chocolate. Much to my surprise, the cream cheese was so much better! It gave a much-needed hint of tang to something otherwise a little boringly sweet. Definitely drop by and give the cream cheese a chance.

I had their Xoco churro(an unfilled churro covered with warm, gooey chocolate), and an Abuelita hot chocolate, and both were excellent. Neither were too sweet, and the churro was super fresh(fried while I waited) and not too greasy. The only downside is that I came to hang out for a bit in between plans, and the place is not very cozy: very spare interior with hard plastic chairs, and no WiFi.

Hands down the best churros ever!!! The only bad thing is that you just can’t have only one! Usually get a dozen to share with the family and everyone enjoys them. They have different fillings such as vanilla, chocolate(my personal fav), strawberry, cream cheese, nutella, etc The girl that works there needs to smile a little more and be more chatty since she is the restaurant industry but other than that the place is awesome. Note they also sell other items there such as specialty drinks, ice cream, and yogurt however I have only ordered churros from here.

Xocoatl is amazing. Their Churros and funnel cakes are great. I barely found out about this place less than 6 months ago and I’ve been here a couple of times, everytime I come here, I’m left satisfied with everything I order. The Churros in xocoatl are made nice and warm, in other places it’s not even warm or fresh. I recommend it to anyone one who are fans of Churros and funnel cakes!(: p. s the employees are always welcoming.

I was in the mood for dessert and nothing that required going to Wicker Park, Bucktown, Lincoln Park, Lakeview, Lincoln Square, or downtown to find. And I would find that there is a Xocoatl in Logan Square. Funnel cake. Churros. I had the funnel cake and since I hadn’t had one since 1986 — don’t laugh — it was pure heaven. I returned a few days later and ordered churros filled with chocolate. I was expecting cinnamon sticks the thickness of my finger. What a surprise to find that the churros at Xocoatl are substantial. And because I could see kitchen where they were being made, I was instantaneously transformed into a regular customer. Soy contento.
