Easily the best Chinese food in Chico. The only thing that is a bummer is they are closed on mondays.

I was wondering why there was only 1 other occupied table when we arrived last night at 8:35pm. Hard rice. Overcooked egg rolls. Common crimini mushrooms in the«mushrooms, broccoli and snow peas» dish, and sour tofu in the veggie tofu dish. To their credit, they credit us for the sour tofu dish. Never again.

I went here because it had a five star rating and ordered the Mongol beef and pot stickers. Beef was cold and the pot stickers were doughy and chewy. Just writing this so you don’t have a bad night from ordering from this place! Don’t waste your money on this place!

Ok, first of all this is our first review on Unilocal and this restaurant is the perfect one to kick it off. I would really give this place a 4.5 because the food is delish and cooked perfectly. I had General Tso’s chicken and I would have to say this is the best version of it I have ever tried at a restaurant. We will be back whenever we have the urge for some Chinese food.

I grew up in Chico and every time I come back to town I try to go here, everything is really good but the Peeking beef is our favorite. Reasonable prices, casual environment, and in my opinion the best Chinese food in town.

The general tso chicken was unreal. The taste was amazing and there was just enough heat. I wish I would have just made it a meal. I didn’t see that option on the menu but it’s there. The #54 was ok but lacked any real flavor. It was supposed to be a spicy chicken and ginger dish but the flavors were flat. Will give this place another try in the future.

This has to be the best mandarin cuisine in Chico! Always fresh and tasty. You can watch them cooking through a window, which is fun for the kids. Comfortable environment. Very family friendly. My 11 yr old son never asks for Panda Express orange chicken bowl again after having it here. Thank goodness. Perfect cold weather eat in, especially after Christmas shopping.

Best Chinese in town. I tried a few other places ranked above this, I’m not sure people from around here have had good Chinese before.

Really good! Good flavor without being overwhelming. We had some picky eaters in our group and even they enjoyed it. Absolutely would order again, however be warned, it is a little pricier than some other restaurants. We don’t mind, because everyone in our house liked the food.

Food is always wonderful! They can be slow at times when its busy due to the fact that only cindy and chanpheng are in the kitchen cooking. Regardless, they try their best to give us the best service possible! They did raise the price, but its worth it. People forget that this is a Chinese restaurant, and not a fast food place. If you want something cheap, heated up from the freezer, and served by people who don’t appreciate real food, then go to panda express! Also their updated menu is on entrée express. don’t bother looking anywhere else for their prices. I think there might be other websites that endorse or show their menu, but Chanpheng’s aren’t associated with them so don’t try to order through them. Only order through entrée express!

Great food, great staff, loved our whole dining experience! Our waitress was hilarious and personable but she let us have our own space while we ate, which we appreciated! The food was delicious and quick to come out of the kitchen. We even got a complimentary soup as an appetizer! My partner and I both agreed that this is our new favorite Chinese food place in Chico(way better than tong fong lo) and we will absolutely be coming back!

The atmosphere is calm and relaxing, the service is very nice but the food leaves much to be desired. Even the spicy dishes are pretty bland. There were two pieces of bone in my kung pao chicken. That’s very disconcerting. We will try somewhere else next time we are in Chico.

This is a really good off the beaten path Chinese restaurant. I’m not from Chico, but a local recommended this place to me and I loved it. I’ve been twice and I ordered the same dish twice, the hot braised chicken, and it was sooooo good. All the sides they have were great too. Portions were huge and the service(Maxine) was really sweet and personable. They have a buffet at lunch, but I only went at dinner. In general I’m not the biggest fan of buffets so I would have ordered from the menu even if the buffet was an option. If I lived in Chico I’d probably eat there weekly, its that good.

Not so bad. Szechuan beef, tofu with veggies, mu shu and pancakes. The pancakes were the frozen variety(I actually thought they were tortillas) and unexciting, super bland and boring. The food itself was not so bad, a bit overcooked but still good. We were bummed out that the order we received was not what we had ordered, which made the $ 25 minimum and the subsequent delivery fee(not including tip) a bit pricey-er dinner than I’d intended to pay(around $ 50 for three) but every one was happy. Thanks, Chan Phengs!

It is truly astounding how the waft of a sent you haven’t had the gift of in twenty years can snap one to a far away land in an instant. The moment I opened the bag that was delivered to me exactly 1 hour and 24 minutes after I had ordered it, I was rushed like a plummeting suicide hucked from the Golden Gate Bridge straight into 1990 Salt Lake City, UT It was a very crisp fall afternoon when found myself in an already aquardly outdated mall stuffed into the suburbs. Late into the day I found myself shaking like Michale J. Fox on blowcaine. Normally the holiday cheer would be to blame, but this was compounded by my body devouring itself from lack of sustenance. Rushing to the food court I found three options; Saborro pizza that looked as if it’s was made first thing in the morning… Three days ago, an extremely questionable hot dog via, Orange Julius, and a pile of over-cooked cow mein from some dump with ‘Siam’ in the name. Snapping from my Christmas nightmare and back into my poorly decorated house in Chico, I found myself struck with terror. Eyes glazing, mouth dry, quivering, I took a bite. I gasp! «That’s it, it’s perfect! But how Could this be?» As I slowly push the mangled ‘worms’ from my mouth with my tong back into the styrofoam container from whence they came, I thought, «They must be brothers, possibly family? There is no other explanation as to how one could perfectly match the worst mall Chinese food I have ever had in my life so perfectly as this, this masterpiece of failure…» The fortune cookie read, «A new relationship is about to blossom. You will be blessed.» If it must, fine, but it’s not going to be with this restaurant, or the rest of their ‘family’.

I used to like this restaurant. I don’t know what has changed but tonight my husband and I went in and were totally horrified. It was busy but we were seated in a few minutes. It smelled good. That was the last good thing that happened. We waited for 5 – 7 minutes pleasantly, looking at the menu. Meanwhile the young male waiter hurried around serving people. The older female waitress was refilling people’s drinks. We kept trying to catch someone’s eye. It was crazy, like we were invisible. When over 15 minutes went by and we were unable to even get a glass of water we gave up! I have never done this before but we walked out! We drove to Happy Family and got served in 30 seconds. Never going back to Chan Phengs!
