It’s cheap. Free chips and salsa. If you must go, just order the tostada. Ask for no cheese it’s better this way. If you live in chico, at least dine there once.

Cheap food. Tasteless, chicken(is it boiled?) stale chips, salsa that is left out and potential health code violation. Not returning.

Still a great place with good food and friendly people. It’s been a few years since my last visit and every time I come home from Texas it a must place to go!!!

This’s a great place with great prices. For 40 years we’ve been coming here and the ingredients are always fresh and the counter staff is friendly. Can’t say enough positive things.

Still one of the best cheap eats in Chico, after decades of being in business. People who give this place bad reviews must not really know what to expect; this is quality food at really reasonable prices. I have been eating here since I was a little kid, and the value is still unbeatable in my opinion. Get a tostada and some extra house hot sauce. You’re welcome!

Gone here my entire life. Still the same great food. LACOMIDA is one of those places that may not look the best but it is delicious! It is one of the best bangs for your buck in chico. You can get 2 meals for around 8 bucks. This is two full meals that can feed an adult. Not to mention they make their own chips and salsa. This place is such a great place to eat that it’s the first place my ‘out of the area’ family members request when visiting chico.

First time in Chico and La Comida was recommended by a good friend who used to work there 40 years ago! Had the Fiesta taco salad with shredded pork and it was delicious! The dressing should be bottled and sold. The salsa and chips were fresh and flavorful. What a place for a great price. Definitely coming back.

Really good food and at a great price. The staff is nice and service is fast. Your order at the counter first, pick your seat and then grab your food when your number is called. They have a lot of seating and have chips and salsa at the tables. The place could be cleaner but I would not consider it to be dirty. The chips can be left out a little too long sometimes though and end up stale, just ask for a new basket though and they will bring them out.

I try not to post bad reviews, because I would rather write about good experiences I’ve had. I was craving Mexican food after work, and a co-worker recommended La Comida. I wasn’t looking for«street taco» authentic food, and had read the reviews prior, so I knew it was the type of place I was looking for. Again, I don’t let a few bad reviews deter me, and I really wanted to like this place. My first impression upon entering was that it looked tired. But there were plenty of people there, so I expected the food must be good. I waited in line, like a fast food restaurant to order. A nice girl took my order, and I asked if they had white cheese instead of cheddar. She let me know they didn’t. No big deal. I ordered crunchy ground beef taco’s with rice and beans. It comes with a «salad.» She asked if I wanted salsa and utensils. I had ordered to go. I live down the street and starting unpacking my dinner. I bit into my taco. The shell was super stale, like they buy it off grocery store shelves. My taco meat was so dry it was like it had been under a heat lamp all day, even though I came in at a dinner rush hour. It had absolutely no flavor. Maybe because it was so dried out? The beans were ok, and the rice tasted again, like something you’d find at a grocery store in the instant meal section. She had asked if I wanted salsa. But I assumed it was for the chips I saw all around. My order didn’t come with chips, and I assume the salsa is to give any of my dinner some flavor. I’m attaching a picture of my «salad.» The prices are cheap… for a reason. Again, I try to post only good reviews, but it DOES seem that they are living on a legacy, and not on their food.

Would I come here for my favorite, authentic Mexican meal? No. Do I come here to grab a quick work lunch pick-up meal? Yes. It’s cheap, the ingredients seem pretty fresh, and I have never received a wrong or messed up order– which says a lot because I order for a group every time. They have excellent customer service, let you pay individually for orders, they are friendly and super helpful. One time the manager(?) even helped me carry all of my things to the car because he saw that I had more than what I could carry in one trip. That is above and beyond in my eyes!

It seems like a lot has changed since my last review. Reluctantly I returned to La Comida and I have been here at least 5 times. Happy to say that the food is great, service is fast, and I am more than happy with the quality.

As a huge Mexican food fan I would not even consider this Mexican. They completely Americanized it and it is awful. The rice I was given looked old and the beans were flavorless. The only reason it gets a star is because my taco was decent. Definitely not returning.

Okay food that matches it’s customer service and atmosphere. It’s not bad, it’s not good. It’s decent enough to go to once in a while but don’t expect much from either the food, the employees or the place. The best thing that gets us to return is the salsa… it is delicious and fresh.

The chicken and rice were flavorless. It’s basically cheap food for people just looking to stuff their face. Hell, the name ‘La Comida’ literally translates into English as «food». Most of the clientele were of a certain variety that clearly enjoys their food. A lot. A very cheap way to get motivated.

I recently went to La Comida for the first time, after hearing really great stories. I ordered a One-Item plate with a burrito, rice, beans, and side salad. The food was great, however I wasn’t too much of a fan of the beef that is standard for the burritos. I would have preferred chicken or steak, or even being offered a choice in meat. I also wasn’t too big of a fan of the«salad» that came with the meal. The service was great, as workers were very friendly, although grabbing your own chips & salsa was a little odd. Overall, the food could use some improvements, but I did enjoy my visit! I will probably be back again, and now I will know how to customize my order.

The only reason I didn’t give that last star is because this place is closed on Sundays! Have been coming here for over 30 years! Always order the beef and bean tostada, light lettuce, extra cheese,(that cheese is addictive!), half ranch and half guacamole! Always! We always get chips, salsa and bean dip to take home to Placer County! And Chico La Comida beats Oroville all the way! Yum! Open on Sundays, would ya? :-)

I still love their chicken tacos, but their management skills are marginal. The managers or owners seem to be rude to customers and do not care about their patrons requests. You may have been here a long time, but if you don’t start caring about your customers your restaurant will be gone. 3 stars for food, 1 for management, 2 for customer service.

Freakin love this place. Been coming here for over 15 years. Love the house sauce n the chips n salsa. Enchiladas are good n tostadas. Yum. Not too authentic in taste or atmosphere if that’s what you’re looking for, but it is bomb and a Chico classic.
