Overall pretty good. I had the prime rib, and it was slightly over cooked. It had good flavor. The service is good, but the women work their butts off. Nice place to sit on the patio drink beer and hang out.

After much publicity, news coverage and then word of mouth, you think Scotty’s would be ecstatic and prepared for their 60th anniversary! WRONG! What a great opportunity that was lost for Scotty’s to capitalize on doing business! I arrived well in advance of the Gold Rush-crowd, only to find one bar tender with every stool taken. His challenge was to serve as if there were 3 bar keeps, taken drink orders, food orders and running the length of the bar and to the kitchen. Took me 15 – 20 minutes to get a drink and overlooked several times, as if I wasn’t there. I thought, I’d better order a pitcher, cuz one cup at a time is 20 minutes each! Further exasperation was the fact that 50% of the chairs out on the patio were broken, umbrellas, too, and people arriving were scrambling for chairs; Food order took nearly 30 minutes; Beer was not very cold, nor was there any accommodation to provide an ice bucket to set the pitcher in to cool the beer. Warm beer — NOTHANKS! I made the mistake of ordering a pitcher but I didn’t want to fight the bar service to order just one cup at a time. I don’t know if all his help called in sick, or it was just lame, lack of planning; but Scotty’s was ill prepared for what was coming. It spoiled my idea of relaxing on the patio in the future, or enjoying anything they want to serve. I only saw one waitress, who had to serve a huge crowd, highly insufficient! It’s rather sad that there was no planning put into what could have been double the business and build future returning customers. If a friend ever wants to meet me there, I’ll certainly decline. Wish Scotty’s was the little resort it could be, but it’s not for me.

If you’re looking for a place to relax and be by the river, this is the right place for you, the food is not the best in town, but I really like their burgers and fries. This is not a place that I would frequent, but its a nice getaway from town to relax and hang out.

Clearly they’re doing something right to last so long and have such a strong following, but this establishment isn’t for me. Food is greasy and/or skimpy, the place is a mess and in disrepair and, well, I could go on and on with more dings. I’ll let everyone else enjoy, but no return visit for me.

Acting as an oasis after a long day of fishing, floating, driving or simply being, Scotty’s Landing(or just Scotty’s as it’s more affectionately known to us locals) is a great stop if you’re looking for an enjoyable atmosphere to supplement your meal. The food is good but nothing too special and priced quite reasonably. The beers are cold and the drinks are stiff. The staff greets you with the seemingly river living mentality that implies you have somehow encroached on their living by simply being there. That’s not to say the service is bad because it truly is not. They serve you quite quickly and politely. I am not sure I would even recognize the place if they smiled when you walked in or waived when you left. A resonate effect of the 90% of their patrons(obviously estimated and possibly exaggerated) being drunken college students entering either before or after a day on the river. Presumably to use the facilities, rarely to make a purchase. This wonderfully lends to an environment that provides an intimate rapport with your waitstaff and some great people watching with an honest desire to stay just«5 more minutes.» If you’re gonna be in Orland, Los Molinos or Chico it’s worth the extra trek out there to spend a day or evening with your friends on the river. Don’t forget to call a cab to get back, most of the taxi companies are pretty used to a slightly intoxicated phone call from a group trying to get back from Scotty’s and are generally willing to give a good deal.

Checked this place out for their 4PM Blues Sunday live band. The place is charming and has a great view of the river. Keep in mind that their«blues band» rarely plays true blues, seem to be a bit drunk, and only able to play 3 song sets. In other words, most of the time, you aren’t listening to live blues. More importantly, if you want to eat good food, please do yourself a favor and eat before you come. I will be back, just due to the ambiance. I will only be back though for drinks. Here are how our orders went: Fish and Chips — Fish was not cooked thoroughly and the french fries were soggy Char-broliled Chicken Sandwich — Chicken was dry as a bone(and did not fill up the bread) and the sourdough was stale(like a week stale) Shrimp Salad — meh, nothing wrong per se, but there was no flavor in the shrimp Coleslaw — they add horseradish, so be careful if you don’t like horseradish Now, I realize it is bar food, but when I complained about my stale bread to the waitress, she apologized. We got our bill and I spoke with a manager and they said it is never like that. Where is the customer service? Comp me a drink or a dessert or my meal… I even commented to the waitress that due to the lack of concern about my dining experience, we will probably never be back. She said(verbatim) «Well, I hope you do.» These folks running this bar seem to only care about meeting the minimum. As I said, I’ll be back, but just for the drinks and only during drink specials. So, I’m quite disappointed in a cool spot.

I am itching just thinking about this place! Our visit there left us literally itching and scratching for a week! They were not from mosquito bites, but possibly fleas? How does one get a series of bites under their skort sitting outside? It was like these bugs were on the chair and crawled up under my skirt! My Beau ended up with bites on his butt too. The combined estimate was about 30 bites. I wonder if the feral kittens the young boy, possibly the owners relative was trying to catch had anything to do with this? Besides the bug bites, the place obviously lacked upkeep, cleanliness and pride. In general, this place was extremely dirty: dried up old paint brushes, junk cars outside, broken appliances, cardboard etc… I felt relieved I did not order anything to eat after going into the bathroom. I sort of rate the cleanliness of the bathroom of how clean the kitchen is. Just think about this folks the next time you walk into a dirty bathroom… just imagine the cooler where food is kept, the cutting board, the utensils, and so on. When we were there, you had to order your beer from the bar. There sat the owner off to the side talking to some unsavory looking gal about nothings. There we stood, a line of us yuppie types waiting to order something from the one bartender. There was no greeting, no hey folks, we will be right with you… just the tick tock of the clock as we waited to get that draft beer! I understand that a lot of Chicoans have fond sentiments for this place, but I just do not get it. Obviously they lack customer service and a sense of pride of business. Thanks but no thanks, I will take my hard earned buck elsewhere!

Ahh… I missed this. A taste of SoCal in NorCal. Fish and Chips and decent beer while overlooking some water. I wish they had a better beer selection, but the honey wheat is worth trying. On nice weekend days, it’s fun to sit out on the porch and watch the old drunkies do karaōke while you get loaded up on booze. Then it’s time for a float down the river! Great vibe, I’m picky and I liked the fish and chips. Cool people, mostly an older crowd when I went… but it’s better than sitting inside on a beautiful day.

Great place, fun crowd. Atmosphere is casual and light hearted. Food is good. Had the BLT … good price and adequate bacon!
