The service is always amazing and the food is always delicious. If you are ever in the mood for italian food and in ssd, make sure mangia is among your options.

Fettuccini Alfredo was ok, too much garlic. A bit over powering. Rigatoni(not baked) was incredible, like buttery chilli with perfectly cooked noodles and delicious sausage– MUSTTRY. Huge portion sizes, a bit expensive but worth it.

Delicious! We got the Caesar salad and the Margarita pizza. It was so tasty! The crust was soft but had a wonderful crunch to it. The staff was so kind and helpful. Mercedes was very knowledgeable and made great recommendations. I will definitely be going back for another round of pizza! Lots of seating. Easy to find parking. Wonderful dinning experience.

My wife and I were in the downtown Chula Vista area last night and were looking for a new place to try for dinner. We happened to walk by Mangia Italiano and noticed that they were quite busy. We figured that the food was pretty good so we walked in and were seated promptly by the hostess. Shortly after sitting down, the waitress came by for our drink order and returned with it promptly. In between our drinks and placing our dinner order, a homeless man walked in from outside and since the hostess was not at the front, he came right up to my table and asked for money. Talk about bold! Even though he was polite and left when I said that I didn’t have anything, it left my wife and I very uneasy the rest of the time that we were there! We were surprised that 1. No one was at the front counter watching the people enter/leave and 2. Not one employee was around when this happened. A few minutes later, our dinner arrived. My wife enjoyed her chicken fettuccine, however, my was just okay. I ordered a pesto pasta dish but mine tasted watery. I am not sure if this is because the noodles weren’t drained properly or because there was too much water in the pesto sauce. In either case, I would not recommend it. The waitress gets a full five stars for her great customer service and personality but the food gets a two star review. There are many other Italian restaurants in the San Diego area — namely ones that are less expensive so my wife and I will not be returning. Kathy and her staff at Mangia were amazing on Saturday! We hosted a casual wedding celebration in their bar area and we had a fantastic experience! Our guests complimented us on the taste the food and how comfortable they were. We got to celebrate with about 75 of our friends and family. Thank you!

Excellent pizza, homemade bread with cracker texture crusts and super soft on the inside. The rigatoni fra Diablo was so tasty… The waitress provided us excellent service and was super attentive to our table. Looking forward to taking friends there for pizza!

Service was soooooo slow. Our waitress was rarely around to ask for refills on our drinks. We had a ½ Cesar salad with chicken, which was extremely over priced for what it was(about $ 8). Chicken seemed like it was prepackaged/precooked and it was warm!!! We were not impressed. We also had a calzone, which was actually ok. Ordered a cup of pineapple for my son, which came out of a can… the quality of food was not worth the $ we spent. We will not be coming here again.

Yummy and simple Italian food! Came here about 3 days ago since I had a groupon to use. When we walked in we were greeted right away! The young lady was very sweet and found us a booth right away(since my daughter likes booths) and sat us down. Later there was an older man who took care of us and let me tell you. HEWASSOSWEET! I forgot what his name was?): could it be Mark? Hmm. Idk but he was amazing. Seriously giving five stars because her customer servicing was fantastic. He really keeps in touch with you and wants to help you pick the best and most suitable dish for you! I got the lasagne and my fiancé got the crusted Parmesan. It was both very yummy. The only thing I didn’t like much about my lasagne was the ground beef. Maybe they could have seasoned it more? I also got the margarita pizza. And for the price for the small one. You gotta buy it! It was delicious. You can taste the garlic and everything. I will def come back and order it again. This will be my new go to Italian restaurant.

Delicious as usual! So nice to see Norma our server from the last time we were here. We felt so welcomed like family here and love the atmosphere. This time there’s room for desert even though we have left overs!

Response: the delivery is advertised on Unilocal. The buffet is advertised on Unilocal and your website. When called the staff person said neither of those things existed. Either the website is advertising falsely or the staff doesn’t know the services Still disappointed with the whole experience and waste of time picking food only to find it wouldn’t happen

Father’s Day dinner. Lots of customers, but five star service and food! Thank you! The flatiron steak was perfect and Chicken Primavera sparkled with fresh, beautiful veggies. I had the Ravioli Siciliano.. so pleasant with cream, fresh peas and Serrano Ham. Yum!

Consistently good food. Great variety on the menu, but once I found my favorite, the gnocchi, it’s hard to miss out and try something new. Dinner starts with some great fresh bread, and the wine list looks good. Service is always friendly and very nice.

Just finished a great meal here! I have Celiac disease so I was super excited about the gluten free menu. For anyone else with gluten allergies – there’s an entire menu for us so long I would have believed it was the normal menu. You will have tons of options. We had the chicken penne pesto and the vegetable ravioli in white cream sauce. Both were delicious. The chicken was fantastic, really well seasoned and definitely was the star of the food. I wish the pesto sauce had been a little thicker, but it tasted great and I was happy. The veggie ravioli was awesome too, and I couldn’t resist stealing a couple from my boyfriend. The best ravioli I’ve ever had, I didn’t expect to love the filling so much, and the sauce was perfect. We also split the limoncello dessert. It took a lot of restraint to only eat my half of it. Loved the textures. It sort of reminded me of a really fancy creamsicle? I definitely want more. Jessie was our waitress. She was really sweet and gave us great service. The owner(I think) came out to talk to us as well, and he seemed really passionate about having great gluten free options. The website seems to be down for me right now so I couldn’t see the menu online, so I was hesitant to go. But I’m glad we went and I was thrilled with the number of choices I had, the friendly staff, and delicious food.

The veal Parmesan did not taste fresh at all. Tasted like it came from left overs from a few days ago or if it was frozen and then they just microwaved it then poured sauce and cheese on top. It just pissed me off that it cost so much even though it wasn’t freshly cooked food. It’s rather sad since I have been a customer since they first opened which was around 2005 or 2006. I still like their pastas but I will be extra cautious ordering from the menu on my future visits. I am actually not even sure if I ever plan to come back in the next couple of years because of how bad my veal parm was.

They have a gluten free menu if you need to eat gluten free or you’re into that fad. I found a Groupon for Mangia Italiano and we used to pass it all the time when we frequented the 24 Hour Fitness a couple blocks down, so we finally tried it. Their focaccia bread is so yummy! Definitely make sure to ask for some if they don’t bring it out. We got the calamari, which was much saltier than what I’m used to. About ¼ of it was salty, the rest of it wasn’t, so maybe it was just a fluke. I’ll go again and try the calamari for a second time just because I love calamari that much and the rest of our food was delicious. THEYHAVEGNOCCHI. Gnocchi is by far my favorite pasta dish, but not every Italian restaurant has it. The Italian restaurants that do, their gnocchi is almost always homemade. Their gnocchi is homemade here, so obviously I had to get it. It came in a creamy marina sauce — SOGOOD. I love, love, loved it. Add some chicken or shrimp in for protein and extra flavor and you’ve got a great dish. Boyfriend got rigatoni fra diavolo and said it was delicious. I think it was little spicier than he was expecting(from the sausage), because he couldn’t eat the entire thing he said it was so spicy. I had the leftovers the day after and the pasta was delicious even a day later. It’s a nice, clean restaurant. There is an Italian restaurant in the small country town we are from that is very similar, so it kinda gave us a sense of that small town feeling. Our waitress was very nice and walked us through some of the menu since it was our first time. We will definitely be back.
