I’m always a fan of nice, friendly, delicious, NON-STARBUCKS coffee shops! I’ve spent several days in the Reading Bridal District lately, and have really enjoyed stopping into Java Glaze for a cup of coffee and a snack. The girls that work there are very sweet, and the place is spotless. There is tons of room — and so bright inside. I’d feel confident meeting a friend here, knowing that getting a table to sit and relax at won’t be a problem. I like that their baked goods aren’t as big as my face. I can eat a normal-sized muffin there and not feel like I ate 6 servings of dessert. All in all, a very nice addition to the area. You should go check them out!

Great new coffeehouse café in Reading on Benson Street. The staff is very friendly, the coffee is above average, the atmosphere is clean and inviting, and the food is good. All in all a great value. We went there for breakfast, and had the Taste of Belgium waffles and the classic breakfast(eggs, choice of meat, toast). They also have excellent vegetarian sausage. Their lunch menu looks promising. We look forward to going back and also getting their awesome-looking cheesecakes.

I will admit, Java Glaze was not my original destination. I was out for breakfast at Half Day Café and when I found it closed(after driving the stupid 20 minutes on a day with crazy ice and snow), I did a quick Unilocal search for something else close by … anything close by! What I found was Java Glaze Café, and what I got was a really pleasant meal. Java Glaze almost feels like somebody’s living room — it’s a giant room and keeps on going back(where it has a nice area for bigger groups). There is comfortable furniture, brick walls and lots of light coming in from the window. A very pleasant place to be! There are a bunch of both sweet and savory items on the menu. And they are cheap! CHEAP! For breakfast, nothing seems over $ 5.50 and for lunch, over $ 10. Woah. We ordered a bunch just to try it all — biscuits and gravy(Delicious. Wow!), breakfast panini(good but wouldn’t get it again — it needed hot sauce to really make it into something), and a pastry from their counter(so good!) They are also home to «Cheesecake, Please» which is their registered type of cheesecake they make. And cheesecake they do make! — Cheesecake slices, cheesecake samplers, cheesecake parfaits, cheesecake cheesecake! We had to get one(we got the raspberry parfait) and it was damn good cheesecake. The servers are very nice and came over right after we sat down. The food took a while to get out but it does feel like they’re making it all from scratch. So sit back, enjoy your morning and don’t forget the cheesecake.

I highly recommend Java Glaze Café for a great lunch or an afternoon coffee and snack. The quinoa and mushroom soup I had was delicious and their other menu items look very tempting. They have also done a great job creating a fun atmosphere with the renovation of an older building near the bridal district in Reading.

Had breakfast there today, wonderful décor, great service and the quality of the food was amazing considering we ordered relatively simple dishes. We can’t wait to go there soon to try out their lunch dishes!

I’m not surprised I’m not the first to review this, even though it just opened. A friend and I met the chef while out at a bar one night in Reading and he talked at length about the menu of this brand new restaurant, and we just had to go. We went for brunch. The menu is pretty big, considering nearly everything is prepared from scratch, which is impressive considering how many different breads the chef makes. My friend had the breakfast trio, scrambled eggs, hash browns and apple wood bacon, along with a piece of bread. He said it was as good as it gets when it comes to something so simple, he loved it. However, I had to try the french toast. Oatmeal bread with a coffee glaze, a small dollop of whipped cream, and a strawberry. It was excellent. A different take on french toast for sure, but I’d say it’s one of the best I’ve ever had, and I love french toast of all kinds. The prices were certainly fair(even a bit cheaper than I expected) and the service was great. I need to return to try more(or all) of the items on the menu before bumping it up to 5 stars, but if half of the items on that menu taste as good as they sound, this will be a very successful restaurant.

Great new spot in the Bridal District!!! We tried the Southwestern Cobb Salad, and the Chicken Florentine wrap, both outstanding. Still fine tuning a little since only open for a few days, but well worth a stop if you’re spending the day shopping, or on your way to work. The shop is beautiful inside and out, and Natalie’s attention to detail is evident in all you see and taste. Really nice spot, and only going to get better.
