Sushi was ok, I would say that if on a scale of 1 to 10, grocery store sushi is a 4, this place would be a 6

It truly saddens me that this place has closed. My heart is crushed. I’m literally in the parking lot thinking to myself«now where am I going to have yummy sushi buffet» :(

This is your standard Chinese buffet but with a little something extra. When I say little, I’m not giving this place enough credit. If you go to Kyojin, you go for an all-you-can-eat sushi buffet. It’s not the best sushi you’ll ever have, but there’s at least 20 different rolls to eat to your heart’s content. The non-sushi food isn’t out of this word, but it’s enough to acquiesce your non-sushi eating friends. There’s also a small dessert bar but remember, keep your eyes on the prize: SUSHI! Other than the many sushi rolls, there’s usually shrimp and calamari right off the grill. Additionally, you do a make-your-own noodles dish! Don’t knock this til you’ve tried it and don’t forget to check for coupons!

The sushi selection was pathetic. Rolls were tiny and hardly any fish inside. Quality was one small step above Costco grade sushi. A very big disappointment!

Disgusting. I basically paid $ 14 with tip for a lunch that I barely ate. I am still mad at my friend for bringing me here.

I am not a sushi eater… I get dragged here by my sushi loving friends. According to them, the sushi is fantastic and you certainly can’t beat the selection and price. Its 5 star! For non-sushi eaters, they have a standard Chinese buffet that is heavy on seafood options. I don’t eat seafood, so I find myself limited to a couple things(which are very good). Their hot buffet is not nearly the size of other Chinese buffets that I have been to. I would give it a 2 star. They have many reasonably priced bottles of wine and beer. Service and cleanliness is great. Don’t turn your nose up at this place sushi snobs! Try it once and you will be a convert.

Zero stars. Where do I start? It’s $ 17.95 per person if you eat sushi, $ 12.95 per person if you do not. Two of us ate sushi(big regret) and two did not. They charged us for everyone eating sushi. We told her(the waitress that could of been an owner based on how she acted) that two of us did not eat the sushi, and she took $ 5 off the bill and offered us a gift certificate for the difference. At this point we just accepted it as we were blown away by all the other inadequacies that we just gave up. The plastic plates and cups were disgusting. But against my better judgement we started eating anyway. The sushi was horrific. I’ve never seen sushi rolls so small in my life, lacking filling so much that you couldn’t even taste it. It literally was dried up and had no taste. The supposed buffet was one table of hot food and one table of salad and dessert. The choices of food was the most limited choice I’ve ever seen. They had possibly 5 entrees the rest were either rice or appetizer food. I sampled some of each, it was completely bland and lacking flavor or greasy and disgusting. While we were eating, the waitress who had a very bad attitude came to the table and asked if my friend was finished eating. My friend was in the restroom at the time, so we said no, she wasn’t finished and the woman took her plate anyway and said«She done.» The crab legs were so small that they looked like baby snow crab. And they were so over cooked that you couldn’t snap the legs, nor could you get the crab out. I’ve been eating snow crab forever and never have I had«Bad» snow crab until now. Needless to say, we gave away our«Gift Certificate» to another patron and left hungry. I wish the story ended there. The next day my husband and I, who both ate the sushi were sick. Food poisoning type sick.

For Ohio, i’m a fan of this place. They have AYCE Sushi(Not the best quality) with a pretty good mix of chinese buffett. There is no other place in ohio like it. They have more than enough variety of sushi to suit any palate.

I went there last night. Just from the interior, you would not be able to tell that it is a Japanese restaurant. There is one sushi station that makes fresh sushi. The sushi are Okay. Nothing special, but they have various kind of sushi. I like the wakame and cold soba salad. It was delicious. Do I want to go there again? hmmm… not really…

I’m pretty sad for Kyojin — not only do they have 4 stars but they also have a «people love us on Unilocal» sticker in the door. We had hoped it would be as good as others had said but, unfortunately our visit here was our first and last. We just have to respectfully disagree with everyone else. You’ll miss it if you aren’t looking, since the building is set back off the main road and has buildings in front of it. When you walk in there is a small lobby with prices and, for us, a homeless man who greeted us and asked if we would buy him lunch. There was only one other table when we got in, so we were immediately seated and got right to the buffet. There was one table for appetizers(shrimp and cocktail sauce, those sorts of things), a table of Americanized Chinese food(sweet and sour chicken, sesame chicken, «Chinese» donuts), a table of odd desserts(apple pie, some cream thing, and jell-o) and behind these a small thing for udon and miso, as well as a refrigerator of cakes and a freezer for ice cream. The center of the restaurant is a large sushi station where you can get pre-made sushi or have them specially make sushi for you. Wow, where to go from there. The selection is a bland mess and just isn’t worth anyone’s time or money. The only value I can see in Kyojin is the all-you-can-eat sushi, which is only worth it if you want to eat a ton of sushi but don’t care if it’s any good. Because it isn’t good, what we had was bland and not fresh, much like everything else we had there. I’m glad we had a coupon to help mitigate the cost of eating here. There are lots of good Asian restaurants nearby — Sichuan, SuRa, Akira, Mei, just to name a few. Give them a shot instead.

It really matters who is making the sushi that day. Waitress constantly argues with manager. It’s obnoxious. Just because I don’t speak your language doesn’t mean I can’t pick up on your tone. Also, like most Asian buffets, it starts off great but ends bad. This place may be on the decline. I don’t think it’s worth the price tag anymore for lunch.

Well, it’s ok. Kyojin is a decent buffet at a(borderline) o.k. price. I like these kinds of buffets on occasion because you can try so many different things by just having a bite or two of something. Here the dishes are hit or miss, but nothing is truly awful and there’s good to go around. Vegetables are treated well pretty much across the board and even the tempura was fresh and crispy. The gyoza and other steamed dumplings were good, but while the crab rangoon was crisp, the filling was pretty much non-existent. Lastly, anything that was supposed to be spicy was not very spicy at all. That’s not really a big deal and I find it common outside of urban cores. The sushi isn’t worth the up charge, however. Rolls are poor at best; they are fairly sloppy and indistinguishable across the board. «Spicy mayo» is present on way too many rolls and is slathered on – in my experience, this is a cover for sub-par fish. Nigiri options are limited. Sashimi is little more than diced fish over sushi rice. There’s a sign that says they welcome special requests, but I asked for futomaki and was told they don’t make it. The tamago was good though, and that’s a good sign. I did not sample the seafood bar, which appeared well stocked. Service was indifferent, which is the norm for places like this. I didn’t mark down for that. All in all, not a bad experience, but I have had better. Kyojin is an option if you’re in the area and want a lot of food, or if you’re with friends and all want something different. However, I wouldn’t make a special trip.

I have had to temper my view of sushi here in Cincinnati as I suppose I’ve been a bit spoiled from the Golden State and my stomping grounds in San Diego. Kyojin is okay though and I was certainly heartened by it use of actual raw fish in its rolls. The price is not bad — after a friend and I utilized a $ 2 off coupon, our bill came out to about $ 14 a pop — and it’s a buffet so we had our fill. I’m still not quite in-tune with why so many restaurants around here flaunt the use of imitation crab(i.e. «Krab») by using it as a topping(in my previous experience, use of Krab was restricted to the relative obscurity of the inside of a roll) and I was somewhat concerned about the appearance of their white tuna(I feel pretty certain it’s actually escarole — I steered clear). If you’re a bang-for-your-buck kinda diner then stick to the nigiri and rolls. The additional buffet items include such things are broccoli beef, kung pao chicken, egg rolls, etc — and really are fair to bad in flavor and presentation. I did find the sashimi salmon and ahi to be pretty good though a little lacking in appearance and taste — they also just looked sloppy, I think the sushi chef needed to sharpen his knife, badly. At least our waitress was attentive and the staff seemed very responsive to making more of any sushi items that were low or run-out. The largest drawback of this place is that it is FAR. If it were in the midst of Cincinnati I would probably venture back but given the mediocrity of its fare and the veritable pilgrimmage you need to take to get there(it’s right by Kings Island), I will probably not return.

Yes, its ingridients are not freshest and the rolls are not too creative. But so what? It’s sush BUFFET. You don’t expect great things when you go to a buffet place especially when the restaurant presents sushi, sashimi, and rolls. I will say Kyojin is well worth of the money. When I crave some rolls, I rather go to this place than other average Japanese restaurants. Rolls are usually cooked and covered with sauces, and many ingridients are just bought from big food companies not hand-made. So I know the sushi and rolls are not the best in town, I love Kyojin because I can eat A LOT of them without worrying about the money. However it is true that the dinner can be pricey if you don’t eat a lot. I haven’t paid too much attention on other food, but they look like just usual Chinese buffet items.

This is the worst sushi place i have been into. The food was cold. and sushi was stale. I was really hungry, so I stayed. After I suffered the consequence of having stomach upset. Terrible food! You Unilocalers on here don’t know what’s good sushi buffet! Terrible!!! As in disgusting food. Would never recommend or eat at this horrible place again. It was not worth my time and money. I have been to many sushi buffets, but this place does not even come close. The only consolation to my experience is the red bean ice cream for dessert. Over all, terrible dining experience. The bathroom and restaurant smelled funky.

Excellent sushi buffet! Kyojin offers several choices of sushi. They range from the raw to cooked. The ingredients vary depending on the sushi. They also have a Chinese buffet if you don’t like sushi. Kyojin also has several dessert options, such as pastries and green tea ice cream. Be sure to visit their website for coupons before going.

Sushi buffet lunch session for 9.95? Yes please! No, it’s not the best sushi you’ll ever have. No, it’s not super fresh. No, it’s not authentic. But so frickin what? This place disregards all that with their convenient price & abundant variety! From edamame, seaweed salad, sashimi, nigiri, maki, inari, tataki, yakitori, etc etc etc… You name it, they have it. I can’t even keep track of the rolls they have because there’s just so many! But guaranteed there’s more then 20 types of rolls. I especially loved that last time I was there, they had ikura nigiri — my favorite. And if you feel like switching it up and feel like getting a plate of Chinese food, that’s there for you too. If you’re not too picky & want to try a little bit of everything, this place is a must visit.

It might be more like 4 ½ stars, but I had a great time the last time I went in. Sushi, sushi, and more sushi. Seriously if that’s your thing, this place is great! Spider Rolls, Hawaiian Rolls, typical California Rolls. AND don’t see a roll you like? They will make it for you. I don’t think most people realize that… But they’ll ask how much of you it you want, if you only want like 4 pieces, and they’ll bring it to you and the rest will go on the bar. Simple, awesome, yum. They also have a bar with miso soup, crab legs, and the standard go to Chinese dishes, like general tso’s and sweet and sour chicken. They also have a hibachi area where they’ll make up shrimp and steak skewers, again just ask. They’ve got a salad bar, full of regular and traditional Asian salads. And then there’s the dessert bar. Ice cream, pastries in the little refrigerator, and green tea ice cream! NOM! And one of the servers asked if we had any coupons this last time and we told her no, so she went up and got a $ 5 gift certificate for the next time we come back. This isn’t an all the time place for me as it is a little bit pricey, but it’s definitely a great little special occasion spot!
