Arrive on time, they weren’t open before 5pm and it was still dark with the lights off at 4:58 as we called from the parking lot cuz we couldnt believe they would be closed. love this place, glad we had patience. Sign says 5pm. Fresh spring rolls are excellent. Peanut sauce is what its all about for me. The Singha are nice and cold. The service is always very pleasant. One of our favorite dishes is the drunken noodles with rice on the side. We highly recommend this place to everyone.

I had them deliver to my apartment(it was one of those rainy days, who wants to go out?!) I called before their hours just to see if they would actually pick up and they did, so I was able to order my food. They just a couple minutes before they actually opened so it was super quick! I gotta say their pad-thai is top 2 on my list of best pad-thai(#1 is Cha-Am in Vallejo if you are ever in town, & their calamari! its boooomb!)

I’ve read all the reviews on Bangkok Thai on Unilocal.Unfortunately Unilocaler Tony B. commented that his wife ate the chicken and had an upset stomach. I have visited several times and loved the food. One thing I usually do when I find a favorite place is check with the Sacramento County Health Dept. restaurant inspections to make sure everything is ok. Here’s the link: When I checked Bangkok Thai about 3 – 4 years ago they had repeatedly been cited for thawing chicken in the kitchen hand washing sink. That means that the chicken is thawed in bacteria at room temperature and the cooks have no where to wash their hands. The other consistent citation was no soap or towels in any of the handwashing areas and bathrooms. Since I loved their food I was so disappointed but didn’t want to get sick. I still check back to see if it’s improved so I can enjoy it again. They had the best Tom Gaw Gai soup I’ve ever had! The health department only keeps the last few inspections but you can see that the last two inspections in June & November 2010 both resulted in yellow cards. The November inspection revealed that the restaurant took down the yellow card so diners wouldn’t see it. They then had to pay for the reinspection as a penalty. The other MAJOR violation still on the website shows that they have been cited numerous times for having no soap or towels in any of the handwashing sinks or bathrooms. Think about it, if you were washing your hands, you would refill them to be food-safe. But to consistently have all the stations out on the one day the inspector shows up, over and over again? It shows that there is a serious lack of responsibility to the dining public. Imagine how many times a day the employees use the restroom or take a cigarette break, or wipe down tables while bussing them. I realize that this review could seriously impact their business so it’s not posted lightly. But if you’ve ever had food poisoning you know how serious it can be, especially with chicken! I only post this to educate diners that they need to check the Health Department website and with the hope that the owners of this restaurant will see this and finally see the importance of changing their unsafe food practices. If repeated citations from the Sacramento County Health Department didn’t do it, maybe their customers reading this will encourage them to be safer. I’d love to go back and try their food once the inspection shows that it’s safe.

«Let’s go shopping in Roseville,» he asks «Why? Didn’t the place burn down?» being a smartass, I ask. ” I hear Burberry just opened back up,” he retorts. ” You had me at the first B,” I say So we end up at Bangkok Thai, because it is sort of on the way. I have so far eaten here 4 times. The major thing I like about this restaurant is it isn’t too sweet for Thai food. If you like your Thai food really americanized and sweet, then maybe it is not a good fit. I also like that they have the chili condiment plate with a small container of legit thai bird’s eye chilis in fish sauce. The food is well prepared and flavorful. My favorite dish here, I mean the one I dream about and brings me to drive up to Citrus Heights, is the CHICKENLARB. When you order this dish, minutes later you suddenly hear the sound of chopping coming from the kitchen. What are you hearing? It is the sweet sound of the kitchen hand chopping your chicken breast for the larb you just ordered. The dish comes out well balanced in flavor. Because the chicken is hand chopped, the texture is more firm than mushy. There are paper thin slices of kaffir lime and mint. This is a great starter dish to awaken the palate for more food. Another cool thing. Smell the rice, yup, legit jasmine rice. Yes, there is a difference. The thing I don’t like is the mango sticky rice, ugh, not good. One time I ate here and we asked if mangoes were in season for mango sticky rice, server said yes. What came out was a more replica of one of my favorite dish. Mangoes were unripe and hard. The whole thing was smothered simple sugar syrup. Take the larb and leave the sticky rice behind.

********CLOSED****** Yellow Curry chicken, white rice with a slice of orange… this is what I order every time I go there for lunch. It comes with a little salad with an amazingly tasty dressing and a soup that isn’t always the same but is always just as delicious. I also like the sticky rice and mango dessert, MAJOR yumms! The only thing I will change from now on is that I will take the dessert to go as I know I will enjoy it later without feeling overstuffed. The prices are OK, the décor is very pretty, the service is very good and they have always been very sweet to me. I am rating this place based on service, price and my dish… the one I always eat and will continue to eat.

Maybe it was off day for them, but I don’t think I’ll be wasting any more of my money on this place. The Thai place we used to like to frequent in Orangevale down on Greenback closed, they were not fantastic, but they weren’t bad; at any rate we thought we’d give this place a shot now that it was our sole option for local Thai food. When we first walked in, there was no one greeting people at the door. We stood around for a few minutes until I spotted a woman, who walked into the kitchen area seemingly oblivious to our presence. I walked around the room divider to the register where a strange looking guy with nearly trimmed eyebrows was, he didn’t seem to be at all interested in anything really, though he did seat us with menus and bring water. Our oder of the Bangkok appetizer rolls and Pad Thai was pretty abysmal on both counts. The rolls were, odd, though not atrocious, but the Pad Thai was frighteningly bad. It was overly sauced, with mushy noodles and was just bizzare in consistency. I was pretty hungry so I forced it down, while my wife ate the chicken parts out of it leaving the bulk of the dish(noodles, etc) on the plate– In fact, she’s laying in bed right now with an upset stomach. I’ve got to say, that ranks up there as some of the worst $ 40 I’ve spent on food in quite a while. FWIW: This isn’t a case of me not knowing what good Pad Thai should be like. We lived in the South bay for years with access to all the best asian food you could ask for, and the only thing I’ve ever ordered from a Thai restaurant has been their appetizer spring rolls(named differently at different places) and Pad Thai. I know there are good reviews in here on this place, but I cannot imagine why or how it is even possible. Save your money for something better and definitely avoid this place.

Let me start by saying: I LOVE Thai food. I have been unable to venture away from my favorite, outstanding Thai Restaurant — my opinion the BEST is Ruen Thai in Roseville. I’ve introduced many, many friends(that are also Thai food fans) to that fine establishment and they all agree. However, I felt I needed to explore others, closer to my latest home, so I started here… I ordered Prawns Curry with vegetables and Brown Rice, my date ordered the BBQ Seafood with vegetables White Rice. Hot Level request = Medium for both dishes(ya never know what Hot to a Thai chef is, until you try), we can handle Hot, but… ;-0 Mine: lots of Prawns, exquisite Curry sauce(a beautiful yellow/orange) with an easy mix of fresh green beans, red peppers, onions, tomatoes. Fantastically tasty and made me do the Mmmmm-Yummmm, the whole time I scarfed it down. The Brown rice was excellent in taste and texture as well. The heat/hot level just right. Companion: BBQ Seafood– Scallops, Calamari, Prawns, Mussels, green beans, zucchini, broccoli, carrots, onions, bok choy in a spicy, herb ‘grill sauce’, not saucy like you get with a Curry sauce, just enough to flavor-toss, and man it was an amazing flavor. All grilled to perfection… again the heat level was perfect(for us). We were planning on having some to take home for leftover lunch the the next day — but we finished it all! :-\ Needless to say, no room to try their dessert — maybe next time… Service/Server was sweet, efficient and pleasant. Décor was nice, I particularly like the screen dividers placed among some tables, breaks up the room for a feeling of privacy. The music was ‘Thai appropriate’ and soft. I would have given it a 4 ½ star if it was available, the cut is only due to the shabby parking lot this fine restaurant resides in.

Yummy Food, Fresh Ingredients, Attentive Service Bangkok Thai has delicious food with a large number of plates to choose from. My favorite plate is the eggplant tofu. They make it with the«baked» tofu for more flavor and texture. Highly recommended. The thai ice tea is good too, if you are looking for a low fat/healthier option, you can get just the thai hot tea(no cream and no sugar), but still with lots of flavors. Good coconut ice cream. The restaurant is located behind this Mexican restaurant on Greenback, but it’s right on Hazel and Greenback corner, so it’s not too hard to find. The service is attentive and polite. We got a fresh roll with shrimps for appetizer which was served with spicy peanut sauce. I’ve been here many times and each time the food is very good. So I hope you’ll enjoy this place as much as I do!

Thanks Unilocalers for your review. Right down the street from my house, this is a gem on Greenback. Excellent flavor, moderate prices. Our hostess was formal, and chef is Thai(majorly kudos). No complaints, nice interior ambience, minus the strip mall effect.
