Your quintessential diner breakfast experience. Good breakfast. Friendly service. Eclectic décor. We had the egg and bacon breakfast and a «cake». Syrup was very hot which was good but be careful! There’s some connection with a dinner spot on the nearby Snake River where we ate last night

Ok this was a highlight of my motorcycle trip across the country. I’d camped across the Snake River at Hells Gate State Park the night before, found this place using Unilocal and it did not disappoint. It was all Florida Keys décor, service and food was great, bacon was crispy and eggs over easy perfect. This is a don’t miss joint… glad I found it, glad Unilocal found it for me…

Order the Garbage Spuds and a pancake. Nuff said. Love me some Hazels! It would be good if they did spruce up the décor. It is looking a little beat up in there lately.

I ate there on a Monday with a friend and ordered a strawberry lemonade as well as onion rings. The lemonade had a lemon slice in the top of the glass and strawberry in the bottom. Took my wife there the very next day, ordered a strawberry lemonade and also onion rings. On Tuesday there was no lemon slice nor a strawberry in the bottom. BUT there was an awesome dip for the onion rings which wasn’t there Monday. How can the same thing be so different on back to back days? Service was slow, food was great.

The food is very good, but the service not so much. Our food took quite a while, and then they messed up my friend’s order(both the eggs and pancakes). It’s a shame, because this was her last day of eating gluten. Our waitress never checked back, but another waitress eventually did. We got a half-hearted apology(my bad).

Eating at Hazel’s is precisely why I got on Unilocal: to find cool, unexpected restaurants that a tourist simply wouldn’t know about otherwise. The atmosphere is so much fun, from the décor to the«attitude» the wait staff is known to give you. It’s pretty kitchy with the Tiki style décor, but it sure as heck beats a Starbucks for breakfast. I had the chocolate chip waffles and, well, I wanted more Chocolate Chips in the waffle batter. There were chips and the waffle was big enough to impress, but there could be more spread across the entire waffle. But the breakfast was good enough to ask them to make me a sandwich to-go so I could have something nice at the airport for my flight back home. And the sandwich? It was delicious even if it waited hours in wrapping to be eaten. If I ever come back to Lewiston/Clarkston, I will be visiting Hazel’s again.

They have a waitress there who thinks she’s being small town cutesy but to me, she’s just extremely rude. I called about a delivery order from Mad Dash and she told me instantly to call them even though it was about the food. She didn’t even give me a chance to talk. I wouldn’t have cared if this was the 1st time but this happens everytime I deal with her. To the point where there is plenty of other places to eat because is average at best.

We have been going to hazels for a while now and lately the service has been really bad it takes forever for them to fill coffee and take your order. And it would not be as big of a deal if they were busy but there was only two other tables and the waitress was just hanging out up front and not paying much attention to us. Would not recommend

Good food at a great price. It’s fresh and well prepared. I had the Rueben and the onion rings and they were so wonderful! It’s got a zany Florida Keys tiki décor inside and fun house mirrors in the ladies room. I will definitely go back-they have Cobb salad on the menu! I also hear the breakfast is good too.

Only a three star because they literally burned the syrup. They apologized and told us how it happened but it ruined the meal. Otherwise great eggs and bacon

Ummmm… hmm. Well, I guess this is the best example of — don’t judge a book by it’s cover? We were looking for a diner spot for breakfast and arrived on Sunday morning at around 9:00am. It seemed as though we were there at just the right time, because there was a virtual flood of people coming in after us. Upon walking in, I was… confused? The interior is really… interesting? It feels like a tiki hut mixed with a children’s playroom mixed with a restaurant. But! The place got great reviews and I typically love any kind of breakfast food, so we thought we should give it a try. I got the waffles and stuff, Josh got some kind of egg hash thing with a side of biscuits and gravy(I am always amazed by how much food some people can eat). Our server was fast and friendly, and our food was really good! It’s what I was hoping for — kind of diner-esque, greasy spoon, no frills food. Everything came out hot and was really tasty! My only complaint is that the strawberries on my waffle were for sure frozen, but oh well… I suppose that goes with the theme of what I wanted anyway. Overall, if you are looking for a solid brunch/breakfast place — I would give this place a try! Maybe shield your eyes when you first walk in though…

Lewis and Clark’s Excellent Adventure — Season One, Episode VII «The Times They Are A Changin’» 21 May, 2014 Lewis: Let me get this straight. You’re telling me that there are two cities named after us, Lewiston and Clarkston. And you mean to tell me we are in Clarkston, having breakfast at a place with a chicken on the front entrance( ) and stuffed animals inside( )? Clark: Yes, Meriwether. That’s right. Now pass me the Tabasco, please. I’d like to «kick it up a notch,» as they say. This garden skillet is delicious! Lewis: And what is this state they call«Washington»? You don’t mean to say that George W. of Mount Vernon, VA has a whole state named after him? Where is Jeffersonville, if I might ask? And Adamsvania? Clark: Eat your pancakes and shut up, MW. Not all presidents get states named after them. Just sit back, relax, and eat your food. It’s better than dog, you know. Lewis: Yes, yes, this is excellent grub. And the coffee is good, too. Hot and sweet, like Sacagawea as a young woman. Clark(rolls his eyes). You’re such a sexist, Meri! You just can’t say things like that in 2014. It’s not 1805 anymore. Times have changed. Lewis: Too true. They have named entire colleges after us, and who knows what else? But this«Washington» … I am curious. Is it like the places we visited before? Clark: Well yes and no. I mean, now marijuana is legal. And gay marriage, too. And the food is MUCH better. Like here, at Hazel’s. And the décor! Elvis has definitely NOT left the building here. And those monkeys are too adorable for words. Lewis: Elvis? Monkeys? Is this like … Oregon or something? Clark: Oh, no. Not the Beaver State. There, death with dignity is legal. That’s doctor assisted suicide, you know. Lewis: When I die, I’ll do so without the help of a doctor, thank you very much. I can die with dignity on my own. Clark(with a look of compassion): That’s fine, my merry little friend. But all in due time. Finish those pancakes, please. And more coffee, too. You’ll need it for the journey ahead. York: What about me? In 2014, I don’t need to be your mother-fu#@in’ slave, Billy C. I get to sit at the SAME table as you now. Clark: That’s true, York. You’re the same as us, always were. Just another happy eater in just another town in America getting good food and friendly service before moving on. York: Damn straight. And MW. You have GOT to chill out, my moody white friend. The times they are a changin’. Get with it! Sacagawea: That’s right! I don’t NEED to be your translator anymore. Google can do that for you. I’m going to Joseph to get me some beer and pizza. See you boys lateaaaah! (Sacagawea leaves, paying for her omelet and leaving a 20% tip). Lewis: There goes one empowered native American woman. She was … well, amazing. Clark: Like our breakfast at Hazel’s, you might say. And handicapped accessible, too( ). Lewis: Handi-what? Clark: Lewis, my friend, there is so much more for you to learn. York: Ain’t that the truth! The end. (For now …)

Where to start? The atmosphere is a blast. Each booth has its own theme and you notice something new every time you come in. I’ve been in eclecticly designed restaurants many times, but Hazel’s takes it to a whole ‘nother level. There are things in there that are just amazing, from 50s and 60s décor items to antiques and oddments that are just fun to look at. I always want to find out where they found them. The food is amazing. Really, really good breakfast and lunch items. I have yet to have anything on the menu which wasn’t outstanding. My favorite breakfast item is «The Yuck» omelet, which is absolutely not deserving of its name. Think bleu cheese and bacon, spinach and cracked black pepper… oh, it’s wonderful. Big fluffy pancakes with just the tiniest hint of nutmeg; so good. Good coffee… if a tiny bit on the weak side. For lunch, I highly recommend the Reuben… one of the best in town. Great service even when they are slammed(and they usually are!). There seems to be a little confusion every time I’ve been in about whether you pay at the front when you leave or if your waiter or waitress will ring you up, but that’s the only criticism I have, if you’d really call that a criticism. Service was prompt and my coffee cup was always full. Absolutely deserving of five stars.

Was in Clarkston visiting a friend and did not expect much of good eats in such a small town. I was wrong! The breakfast is delicious. I had the chicken fried steak. The gravy was done just right and tasty, and not salty like most other places. The fried steak was delicious with the right texture and crunch, and not salty. The pancake was good too. The coffee was very watery – too weak, but still not bad. If they make it stronger, it would be a good coffee. Service was friendly and prompt. They refilled our juice and coffee often w/o asking. The décor is fun. Each booth has a different theme. Next time I am in Clarkston, I sure will visit Hazel for breakfast.
