This is the first and the worst ER I’ve ever been in. Multiple people around me had been waiting for hours. My friend fell and needed an x-Ray and we waited two and a half hours to get the x-Ray and then another hour to see a doctor and she was in pain the whole time. While we were there, a boy came in that had cut his finger off. He was only seven or eight. They told him it would be TWOHOURS before they could see him. We all advised his parents to take him to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital so they left and took him there. The staff is confused and unsure of what to do. There aren’t enough staff either and way too many patients. It honestly feels like they do not care. If you can make it, drive to Nashville. Do not come here.

If you can get to another hospital, do so. Many times my family has encountered horrendous treatment. Finally, when my grandmother had a stroke the ambulance took her to Gateway, they did Absolutely nothing for her, and I do mean nothing. My mother and I rendered all of her care while there until finally we had it and MADE them send her to Skyline, where treatment began the minute we hit the door. Had she been taken there I firmly believe the stroke would not have done as much damage. Lets just say the Dr. at Gateway flat out told me he did not know what to do! I mean really!!! Inside hint that we now know, insist that they take the patient to Skyline for stroke. If they refuse the minute you get to the ER demand a move to Skyline they will do it, you just have to really insist and push for the rights of the patients.

I literally will need to be on my death bed before I use this hospital again. After an injury with my son I was met with an extremely rude and hostile nurse. Because I chose not to allow her to talk to me like I was dirt and that she sat on a pedestal higher than me, my night didn’t go well. I was not allowed to go back into the room and it took 3.5 hours for even a nurse to come and update me on my child to let me know he was okay. This nurse was a charge nurse and I expect better professionalism. What they did this night was totally uncalled for and I WILLNOT go back under any circumstance except death.

Second time I’ve had to bring someone that was sick to this hospital. I don’t know how the rest is, but the ER is horrible. It is terribly understaffed and their triage protocol has to be broken. The apathy displayed by the ER staff is mind boggling. God forbid you ever have to come here for treatment. You would be better served by going to Nashville or BFE for that matter.

Dear Gateway Medical Center, Thanks for the dirty preop surgery room with used cotton and alcohol pads as well as a dirty 4 inch needle with blood on it left by a previous patient on the floor, loved how at least 5 different nurses stepped over the needle instead of picking it up. The TV in the room that had the brand name scratched out so that only the letters remaining were H.E.L.L. We knew we were in for a treat for a great experience when we only got a choice of 2 channels, a Christian prayer channel or the view. I also loved how the nurses laughed, rolled their eyes and made sarcastic comments about how much pain the patient was in after surgery in front of us. My greatest heart warming moment is that the Surgeon didn’t come talk to the patient to explain aftercare or do a check up on him before he was released. I know your patients enjoy going home knowing the doctor didn’t care enough to stop by and make sure that they are ok, and explain how the operation went, or instructions on how to recover properly. Scrambling to find the pamphlets about«what to expect after surgery» was an excellent use of time when we were trying to figure out of we should return to the ER due to the symptoms the patient was experiencing or if they were normal. those pamphlets really gave us comfort, instead of you know… Telling us before we left It really made me happy to learn that your nurses have a secret language of hand movements and whispers to accuse someone of being a drug addict trying to get more pain meds when they are screaming in pain after a surgery, that is a genius idea! I hope you enjoy your $ 60k as much as we enjoyed the knowledge to never return to your hospital. Sincerely, Just another number.

If they would jus do their job as far as attending to patients and checkin on them, this would be one of the best hospitals but, i would rather go to Saint Thomas in Nashville. They take care of their patients!
