Texan Theater

As always, staff is super, place is clean, movies are upscale clean, and we enjoyed ourselves.

The Texan is an AMAZING theatre. They put in a new screen and now they show movies up to date with the releases. The prices are still incredible cheap and the family owned business couldn’t be a better spot for kids of any age to come and visit. The whole setting is one that I love to visit. There is 4 of us in our family. We can get tickets, drinks, a candy a piece and popcorn for under 30 dollars. You can’t even buy tickets at the bigger theatres for that cost let alone the snacks! If you want to hang out with family and not break your bank this is the place to go!

Built in 1939, the Texas Theater is a quintessential small town movie house that serves a population of 7,600.
The Texan Theater represents a nationwide movement, mostly in small towns, where cities and citizens are restoring their once mighty movie houses.
This movie house embraces old fashioned charm while keeping with new technologies in cinema. Somehow they manage to keep affordable prices on tickets and concessions. While you can’t order a fancy soda coffee or alcoholic beverages, you can take your children back to a time where having a Dr Pepper and a pickle was a night out.
I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking to mingle in the culture. Small town Texas is dying and commercializing. I agree and understand progress I relish the ability to enjoy what old times are left to be had.

I have waited years — yes, years — to take in a show at The Texan. I no longer reside in Texas and only pass through Cleveland every so often, but last night was the night with the 7P showing of the new Planet of the Apes movie.
A little recent background: The Texan recently updated its sound and technology just to even be able to show new features but it’s been in operation for decades. So quantum leap there to getting 21^st century and digging in.
The sticks and bricks of the theater are understated and gorgeous. The placement of the theater on the block reflects its importance to the history of the town. Its centrally located but if you breeze down 105 and blink you might miss it.
The MO of the theater today is to show first fun films BUT a week or two AFTER their release. So like Target is the rich man’s WalMart, The Texan is a showier, classier 2^nd run dollar show but for a measly 5 bucks.
You will see all the Hollywood fare playing at the local megaplexes, just not opening day or week, and in a much better setting. The seats are comfortable with ample legroom, and you can smell the popcorn from down the block.
Lastly and most importantly DO NOT BE ON TIME. If you arrive when the posted showing time of 7P happens, you are late. I paid for my ticket at 6:58P and could hear the 20^th Century Fox intro happening.
Why 5 stars? Balls. I was ready to give 4 stars until I went. To take on the megaplexes in 2014 takes balls. And this theater is serving its community. There was a line well up the block for the next showing when we exited .
I heart you The Texan. I heart you so much and can’t wait to go back.
