Kathryn was our server of 8 flights of wine. She was so informative and had such a wealth of knowledge about the wine and the company. Can’t say much about her coworker that was helping refill our glasses with the next selection. Overall would recommend coming out to!

Very professional set up, but ridiculously expensive. I didn’t buy anything (there were no obvious winners IMO). The atmosphere was OK. I feel like the prices were set to cover their overhead, frankly. There are better places out there; Wolf Mountain Winery for one, if you want to be spendy.

Well I need to start off by saying that this place is absolutely beautiful… stunning scenery, however the attitudes of the employees could definitely use some work. We were on vacation and just touring some of the local wineries when we stumbled upon Yonah Mountain Vineyards… maybe we were not dressed appropriately for the establishment (shorts, t-​shirt, flip flops), but like I said we were on VACATION and just touring the local wineries. When we walked in we didn’t even get acknowledged. Not a «hey, how are you?» OR even a «we will be with you in a minute.» Nothing. We stood there a good 15 minutes and we’re totally ignored. I was extremely disappointed. Some people need to learn that it should not matter what one wears… sometimes the richest people look like the don’t have a dime and the richest looking don’t have 2 dime to rub together.
I wish I could say that I will give them another chance to try to impress me, but I am afraid that I will not be returning to this winery/​vineyard.

Great place and atmosphere, perfect for a date or going with a group. Highly recommend it to anyone who loves wine.

Their wines are top notch and far from the syrupy Muscadine varietals. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The surroundings are gorgeous. Visit if you want a quick getaway.

We make a trip to the north Georgia wine area every year to enjoy tasting local Georgia wines and had been wine club member for Yonah Mountain Winery for several years before they expanded to the new location. We have visited the new location for the past 2 years and have been sadly disappointed in the service both times. It’s hard to believe that we could have received the same poor service twice. Both times we walk in and are asked if we want to do tastings and after saying yes our hostess walks off never to return, without handing us off to another host or hostess.(once for her lunch break and the other to help with the movie?) Both times we have had to get someone elses attention to help us for a second time. There is usually a crowd but we have never received such poor quality service with very little explanation of the wines from the very young wait staff at the other wineries in the area. The wines are good but service and experience are what we look for to make a good experience and that is not what the new Yonah Mountain offers. We will not waste time returning to this location during our future trips.

We had the best time at Yonah Mountain Vineyards today! We did the 90 minute tasting where the owner toured us around and it was a lovely experience. We tasted 9 different wines for $ 30 per person which I consider to be a great deal. The atmosphere itself is beautiful. The actual tasting room is just awesome — there are Windows all around so a beautiful view of the mountains. Thanks to Joe for being such a wonderful host. I truly wish we were staying longer so that we could come back and spend more time here!

I just love this winery. I only get to visit once or twice a year and the tastings only get more fabulous.

Bob is a great guy who loves what he does. The wines are fantastic, the service is excellent, and we look forward to attending as many events as we can make it to.
Bob plays the piano and tells jokes. He really reminds me of Rodney Dangerfield, and I mean that in the most respectful way, he’s just totally full of life.
We are Gold members and feel that it is money well spent.

Love this winery! I have been on the tour twice and something is always changing. I am fascinated with how much thought and detail has gone into the construction, concept, and winemaking of this vineyard — truly impressive!
The tour is guided by the owner, Bob Miller — who is entertaining & knowledgeable. The staff will pour your tastings during the tour which breaks up the time.
After our tour and tasting, my friend and I bought a glass of our favorite wine and sat out on the patio listening to a great band play for a few hours.
Tip: you can bring your own snacks/​food to enjoy after or they have prepared sandwiches and snack packs for purchase

Third tasting stop of the day! Driving up toward the tasting room was beautiful. We lost complete phone signal when we turned off to head toward the main building. The vines are marked clearly off by what type of wine they are and named after the owners children and grandkids. The tasting room was very impressive on the outside and inside. The view behind the main building of the mountains with the clear skies was beautiful. We ended up doing a full tasting with Cass as our server and also met the owner Bill who was super friendly and told us some history of the vineyard, grapes and how he named the different areas. He also played the piano for us and if we could guess the tune he would give us a free glass of wine. But of course we are young things and didn’t know what the tune was… Lol We learned that our server Cass was still pretty new to being with the company. She was super friendly with knowing the area and had great stories to share. Bill also gave us a a tour of their event rooms for weddings and larger parties which was beautiful as well. The bathrooms were done in marble and had a great local sugar scrub for your hands. Would come back again. Between frogtown and them they were my favorite of our wine Wednesday your.

Thanks Scoutmob for finding this place! Bought the deal and got way more than $ 30 worth. Actually, my fiancé and I fell in love with the vineyard that we are getting married here in March 2016. Bob was our tour guide and he’s also the owner. He was so charismatic and charming he made the tour so fun, warm and inviting. You couldn’t help but enjoy and laugh. We tasted six wines and they were all fantastic. The staff were extremely knowledgeable and warm. You just felt like part of the family. We ended up becoming Silver level wine club members. They hold all sorts of events and we will be participating in the Crush Fest in September! Thank you Bob and your wonderful team. Everyone was fantastic and I am looking forward to working with Kirstie, their event planner, to plan my wedding ceremony and reception.

Awesome place beyond beautiful! Marcus was our wine guru had only started 2 weeks ago and we wouldn’t have know unless he told us. Definitely a must see winery!

My husband and I originally found out about Yonah Mountain Vineyards through a Scoutmob deal for the cave tour, which we bought for his parents for Mother’s Day as part of a weekend trip. We were blown away the first time we visited — the view is spectacular, and the attention to detail and quality in the spacious tasting room alone is impressive. The wine was incredible. It is so nice to have such a beautiful place to visit just an hour and a half away from Atlanta.
We just came back for our second visit and brought our parents and friends, and rented a cabin right down the street. We went on the wine tour again (free for wine club members) and were pleasantly surprised to receive a more extensive, less crowded tour than the first time around. Afterwards we split a bottle of Totem and, as they say on the tour, it really will change your life. The owner and his family are very enthusiastic and friendly. The live music on Saturday afternoons is great. The new event space is beautiful. I can’t say enough good things about this place! We just got home and everyone who came with us is planning on booking another cabin for Crush Fest. We can’t wait to come back!

Did I just arrive in the future? Perhaps.
This is the first winery i’ve ever been to that has no less than 6 Tesla charging stations front and center in the parking lot. Number of Teslas i’ve seen in NE Georgia? None. But — this is exceptional planning for the future, and a lure for Tesla driving Atlantans (sp?) to make the 2+ hour trek northward to enjoy fermented juice from grapes.
Beyond the charging stations, this obviously new (and continuing to be expanded) tasting room sits on top of a hillside with perfect views of Yonah & other nearby mountains. Despite today being well into late December, we were able to enjoy a few glasses of wine outside — both by the vines and by the fireplace.
The tasting was insanely cheap and we got to try almost everything, save for the more expensive bottles. A Malbec made with California grapes?! It works. My taste in red is very Malbec-​centered, so that is the one I ended up getting a glass of to enjoy outdoors.
If you tend to gravitate towards the sweeter wines, La Fin is an excellent sipping wine, and if you like slap-​you-​in-​the-​face Ice Wine, their 3 oz pour is more than enough to enjoy.
Come for the wine, stay for the views, and charge your Tesla.

A friend and I went there as a spur of the moment choice since we were up in some cabins nearby and what an excellent choice it was! We assumed it would be your typical low keyed wine tour/​tasting, but we were so wrong! The tour was headed by Bob Miller, the owner, and he was filled with excitement and personality. Not only is his personality big, but the winery is large as well. And beautiful! The architectural details of the design on the main building and «The Cave» are amazing!!! We learned about the history and growing of the vineyards and why Yonah is often «the only winery in Georgia»!
The tour was $ 25 for 90 minutes that started off with a live music selection! I was happy that we got there close to starting time and they got us in really quick. The tasting itself started with a taste of a couple of grapes and included 3 wines during the tour and 6 wines while sitting in the back patio which was very relaxing and comfortable. There is live music and food to go along with the tasting. And the wines were delicious! The taste included several whites, the Chardonnay being my favorite, several reds and a desert wine. All excellent wines!
They have a wine club that sounds like it may be interesting.

I found Yonah through a ScoutMob deal, otherwise I’d never have known this charming little winery in the middle of BFE, North Georgia even existed.
My boyfriend and I went to Yonah a couple of weekends ago for a winery tour and tasting. Something to note: Yonah is the only winery on the east coast to boast wine caves similar to those found in Napa (because the winery is modeled after those).
On Saturdays, the winery has 90 minute tours and tastings as well as live music, an open tasting room, a large outdoor patio and acres of vineyards around the main structure growing the different types of grapes for the different types of wine.
Like I said before, this winery is in a most unassuming place. We’re driving along winding, two-​lane roads in North Georgia not far from Helen, when suddenly: bam! This beautiful little winery with beautiful little vineyards just rises out of nowhere.
The whole thing is totally a labor of love by the owner and his wife. After he“retired,” he started this winery and it’s continued to grow for the past five years. During the tour, which he led with great showmanship and gusto, he gave us the whole history, showed off his two wine caves, the large stainless steel operations used to create the wine and age it, the bottling machine, the store room, the private wine tasting room, etc. We went all over this building and saw in perfect detail how much of an eye for detail he put into this place. Very impressive, I can tell you.
The fact that it’s set against the backdrop of the North Georgia mountains and Yonah Mountain in particular, is really the icing on the cake. During our tour, we sampled three different wines and once we’d finished the walking portion, we were deposited on the large outdoor patio to lounge and drink the other five wines included in the tour fee.
Here’s one of the best parts: unlike many other wineries in Georgia *cough*Château Élan*cough* — this wine is actually good. No joke, it actually is. We even learned that the sommelier at the Intercontinental in Buckhead serves a Yonah wine at special tasting dinners they hold for very good clients every once in a while. Fancy schmancy.
By the time our tour and tasting were over, I was definitely a wee bit buzzed — the drinking was well spaced and well paced, but after 8 one ounce shots of wine, I’m in tall cotton. Lucky for me, my boyfriend’s got a much better tolerance and had no problem driving us back the hour plus home.
This was definitely a really fun experience for an afternoon, and if the winery wasn’t so far off the beaten path, I would consider going there again.

Wifey and I hit Yonah on our second winery visit today. Yonah’s location is simply beautiful and settled in nicely at the base of Yonah Mountain. Stunning scenery and the professional landscaping of the vineyard is just gorgeous. You can tell a LOT of money has been put into this winery and the owner loves to tell stories about all of it. They are great stories and really complimented our visit. We were also able to visit the wine caves and the attention to detail throughout the entire facility is par excellence.
Our experience at Yonah was quite memorable. It was, by far, the most extraordinary «event» we’ve had at a N. Ga winery and, if one were just voting for the experience, you’d be hard-​pressed to find anyone who’d give Yonah anything less than five stars. I’d say visit it just for that and it’s totally worth the extra expense of the wines you’ll try (compared to other wineries in the area).
I’m sure you’re question remains… «What about the wine though? Were the wines worth it?» I absolutely believe that the wine we were served was some of the best you’re going to find in the southeast. I like heavier cabs and they had that. Wifey likes the lighter whites and they had that. She even tried a Chard that wasn’t too «oaky» for her and that’s rare unless it steel-​casked — this wasn’t. We tasted the $ 100+ red and it was awesome. It’s going to be a very rare day when we pay $ 100 for a bottle of wine but I was seriously considering it because the memories we created at Yonah certainly would have been rekindled when we popped the cork on that bottle at some future special event.
I’m certain we’ll venture back to Yonah Mountain Vineyards some day soon after we’ve completed our N. Ga winery «circuit». And I’m sure it’ll be even more spectacular then than it is now.
TIP: Bring some cash to tip your wine steward since they don’t currently have that capability on their cash registers. That’ll probably change soon though.

Had lots of fun at this place. Took their tour into their wine cellars/​caves. $ 25 a person, and you get some wine on the tour and then more at the end. I enjoyed it, the owner actually personally gave the tour and he was quite funny and personable.
The wine is also good, they say on the tour they strive for the best. I will say that maybe I’m not a wine freak, but we paid for a sample of their $ 107 wine ($ 6 for a whopping ounce of it), and eh, I’ve tasted just as good for less money.
All staff are nice and love to talk, not stuck up or snooty. Lots of fun, I’d go back

In case you couldn’t tell, I’m a wine Lova. Finding new ones, going to events, learning about the techniques and culture and visiting as many wineries and regions as I can in this life.
If you blind-​folded me and took me to Yonah Mountain Vineyards, I’d bet all my dollars we were anywhere but GA. And I’d be a broke fool right now.
Yonah was SPEC-​TAC-​U-​LAR! Finally! Georgia has made it to the party and they brought a kick-​ass portfolio with them.
This brand-​new tasting facility opened back in March and is a beautiful, octagon-​shaped building made with a lot of old wood, marble and stone. As soon as you walk in you are looking up and around, taking in the natural light and the warmth the space exudes. The Yonah Mountain is in the backdrop so you are in for some awesome views whatever time of year you go.
We arrived on a Saturday for the noon tasting/​cave tour and arrived a little early. We were greeted by everyone that we came into contact with which was refreshing and promising. You can tell they all are excited about this facility and their jobs. Bob Miller is the owner who will lead you on this tour. He started off the tour with giving us something we would not get at any other winery tour — a quick performance on the piano. Ha! He plays well and it was a nice way to kick off the day and lighten the mood. The group moved outside so that he could give info on the history/​background of their grounds and how everything has came to be. The first 3 glasses are barrel samplings and are given out while touring the fermentation and «cave» areas. I put cave in quotes so people don’t expect long caves carved into the earth. It is underground but it is more of a room. There are two now and the newest one is a lovely, intimate enclosure that can be set up for dinners, wedding receptions, etc.
One thing that was clear throughout — Bob Miller is damn proud of what he does and he absolutely should be. We were blown away at the level of detail (at every step) that goes into making sure what you drink in your glass is the best he could give you. That involves everything from having geologists test his soil to visiting the wineries of those he considers the «best» for a specific grape. It is all so appreciated and is obvious in the final product. This facility could easily be one that you would see in Sonoma/​Napa.
After touring underground, you are taken back upstairs and out to the patio area where the remaining 6 wines are poured. Whites and reds… I wasn’t disappointed with a single wine. And that’s rare. Even those I’m not particularly crazy about, I enjoyed. They have the most expensive bottle in GA at $ 107. Totem, a superb Cab.(not part of the 9 tastings but you can purchase a sample at $ 6)
This part of the tasting was conducted by staff members, Kelly and Lacy and I must give them a shout out. Their service was exceptional and we enjoyed chatting with both of them. We learned that this is Kelly’s second job and he drives from the airport area waaay out to Cleveland on the weekends for this. That goes to show how much they enjoy what they are doing.
They will have an event facility added on by the end of the year or beginning of next year. Yonah is Cherokee for bear which I did not know. Put this on your list for day trips from Atlanta. I don’t think you’d be disappointed. Even if you just go for a glass and a good view. It took us approximately 1 hr and 20 mins leaving from the Sandy Springs area. They apparently have a «harvest» party in the fall when it’s time to pick grapes. We may trek up again for that as well.
I could go on and on about this experience but I’ll let you check for yourself. I promise I’m 100% sober as I write this.

I was recommended to go here during a wine tasting event in Buckhead and this is now my new favorite winery in North Georgia.
The new location has been built and it’s a beautiful ground. The owner and son sometimes play the piano and drums before the tours.
The staff is very knowledgeable and take pride in their work.
The wines are the best i’ve had in North Georgia. They sophisticated and they have a well rounded collection.
There is some outdoor seating and some tables inside, but no restaurant.
I can’t wait to see where this place will be in five years.
I highly recommend.
