Where do I start? Ah, yes. I work as an intern near by and pass by almost every day to go the train, and I always see a paper sign taped to the door that says something along the lines of «No one under 21 allowed inside.» As it was a bar, I understood, but the smells would always catch me. One day, I worked up the guts to call and ask if I could just EAT there, since I’m underage. I was expecting some grizzly, rude, tired employee to pick up the phone and whine at me, but boy was I in for a surprise.
I forgot her name (I think it was Nicole), but she’s an angel. She answered the phone and sweetly told me that I could eat there until 9, which is usually when it gets rowdy with adults. I could have cried for joy. Her service was heaven-​sent, not only because her voice was angelic but because she dealt with my nervous stuttering and underage lack of confidence when it comes to going to bars just for the bar food with courtesy. I felt a real connection. (Get her a raise)
With that green light, I went straight there and even called my boyfriend to travel by train to come try it with me. Looks like a house, and inside is the most welcoming haven of bar food someone like me could ask for. Nicole was working the bar AND the tables, which is three jobs in one counting the telephone so that touched me even more. Kind of cramped inside, but it was clean with tons of TV’s and bright menu signs for those who are a bit visually impaired, like me.
The food was QUICK and everything my nose told me it would be. Got the wings, onion rings, fried mushrooms, and their burger– I think it was called the Emerald Burger or something like that. Definitely would get that again. Delicious, everything. Not sure if it was just because the aromas had teased me since the first day they tickled my olfactory receptors, but we devoured it all without hesitation.
Nicole and another guy took away our empty plates and empty drink glasses without any fuss, and refilled our drinks too! Without us asking, which was incredible to me– I’m so used to dying over trying to get the waiter’s attention for some water. They only asked if we wanted refills after using their own judgement whether we were leaving or not. I like that. Thought processing is a good skill to have.
Seems like they get a lot of regulars, and for good reason.
Would I go back again, you ask?

Pretty solid place. Too small but good food and cheap drinks. They seem understaffed at times but the people working there, really seem like hard workers.

Every night there are different drink specials the food is great! My favorites are NY Strip, Prime Rib, buffalo wings and fried mushrooms. Great place to watch games as there are TV’s all over they are open til 3am. Come check it out good food great drinks great atmosphere, kind of reminds me of my own version of cheers!

This place is just awesome! The drink specials are fantastic, there’s a prime rib night, the bartenders are friendly, and the disco fries are to die for. The best part: the price. Highly recommend to everyone!

I love this place, I have been going for years since I’ve moved to the area and had a bunch of my friends come and they love it too. The food and drinks are great and cheap, the bartenders immediately acknowledge us when we get there and we get great service everytime!

I have been coming to this place for the past 10 years. It’s been my go to dive bar to have some good priced drinks and possibly the best wings and onion rings in north jersey. I have met Brian the owner (good guy) and have seen bartenders come in and out through the years. Anyways, I moved a bit west and I am not in the area as often but yesterday, I stopped by since I had gone to Newark for a soccer game and what a disappointment. food wise because service is still great. guys, please please hire your old cook!!! What happened?

Just got the NY strip steak for 2 and a pitcher of rolling rock for $ 21. Over 2 lbs of great steak and 60 oz pitcher for 2. Great place.

Local bar with a lot of regulars, had that Cheers feeling to it. All the bartenders are amazing and they always have drinks specials or food specials. I never thought I would find good food at a local bar but this food is amazing, even better than most chain restaurants. Emeralds closes at 3 everyday so it’s the perfect spot for an after work drink.

Hidden gem! Does not have the greatest curb appeal, but once you walk in, you quickly forget about that. Staff is very friendly and extremely patient. Food came out fast and was delicious. Great place to come watch your favorite sports games with friends. Came here with friends during football season. Will be returning again this season.
The only issue is parking, but there is street parking available.

Don’t let the appearance fool you– Emerald has the best bar food in the area. Pork wings are life changing, huge portions, and steak specials galore. The prime rib sandwich alone is worth the trip! Doesn’t break the bank either. Recommend to all!

Prices are low and the quality of food high. Great cheesesteak, prime rib sandwiches, fish and chips (flounder sandwich wasn’t near as good), sliders (better than the burgers), ribs, thin crust bar pie, onion rings. Pastrami quality is good but but there are better presentations. I liked the turkey and gravy but my wife didn’t. Please note that many of these are daily specials and aren’t available every day. One special that is available every day are 2 large steaks with fries and a pitcher of Rolling Rock for $ 22) Negative — very noisy and often slow service — especially on prime rib night (very good but too large a portion for me — that’s why I go for the prime rib sandwich). I haven’t tried the wings or weekend breakfast yet.

Have not been here in quite some time, so me and the GF decided to give it a try and we were not disappointed at all, started with the wings with garlic parmesan and wow they were great and loaded with garlic, very tasty and done just right, GF had the prime rib sandwich and I had a roast beef sandwich, both were done perfect. will be back very soon, highly recommended.

What a great daytime bar. Bartender is awesome. Very nice quick with a drink and let’s us old timers enjoy the price is right on the TV. Food is great also. They have awesome lunch specials

Nice little dive bar. The seating area around the bar seems tightly packed, but there are a good amount of tables, so I imagine it would be good for groups. I sat at the bar with a friend, lots of chairs, and more importantly, lots of bar top space to grab some food.
The menu was typical of most pubs, but their most popular item is probably the wings. There are 15 sauces available, but the bartender (Jill?) was very helpful in narrowing down what I was in the mood for. I went with Sweet Thai Chili, or something like that, very tasty on the wings, which were cooked perfectly, moist inside with a crisp outside. Very delicious!
Prices were really good; 5 drafts, 3 vodka drinks, and wings $ 45, can’t beat that for a fun night.
I’ll be coming back here again!

Nice local bar and Always a good time. The drinks are great and the prices are decent. The staff is always nice and welcoming.

my first reaction before parking was? Uhm seriously?
LOL it looks like a house, plus there’s homes all around so you would never think this place was here. It’s honestly a hole in the wall. BUT a GEM. They have a decent parking lot. The drinks are good & cheap and the BarPie is just what you would want with a drink. The staff is very friendly and they have TVs all around so if you are looking to watch sports this place is it ! They also have a jukebox inside and a golf game. It’s definitely one of those small local bars to enjoy a drink with friends. I will definitely be back!

This is a great neighborhood bar with really good bartenders and great food.
There are tv’s everywhere. There is also a jukebox.
The burger is really large but delicious and the menu is simply and yummy.
There are different night specials, like one night; 1 large pizza w a pitcher of beer for about $ 7 bucks.

Love this place for the Wings, Beer and NY Strips! Owner needs to hire a wait staff though. Place is too busy for the bartender to handle the bar and tables. Wait is too long, but the staff do the best they can. Love the staff they have, just need more of them!
The more staff they’d have the more money they’d make. If we didn’t have to wait 30 minutes between drinks we’d probably have at least 4 more each during the course of our stay.

I am so glad I found this tiny gem! Every single time I walk through the door, I’m treated like family and the bartenders always have big beautiful smiles on their faces. Especially my favorite bartender, Jillianne. She is humble and such a sweetheart. The bar is usually packed when she is working especially during football. I can’t get over the impeccable customer service that she dishes out. If you want to be treated by family just walk into Emeralds on any night or day that she works. Having a bad day? Jill always listens to her patrons issues and ends up putting a smile on the faces of her loyal following. I usually call ahead to make sure she’s there. The menu is great as well and their drink specials can’t get anymore reasonable.

Emerald Corner is simply the best local type of bar that I have ever been to. It never fails to deliver great drink prices and the most delicious food. Service is always amazing and the crowd of regulars very friendly and fun to watch sporting events with. Their daily food specials are worthy of a visit from Diners, Drive-​Ins and Dives! I’m happy it is so close by and often visit a few times a week just for the food!
