I have not eaten the prepared food here, but I come here when I want fresh fish. Selection is good, although when I come after work, the selection has usually been picked over. The fact is they do not over-buy, so they do run out. This is the result of a store which prides itself on fresh fish. I have been coming for years, and have not been disappointed. Imagine walking into a fish-only store and there is very little, to no fish smell. I never buy fish at my grocery store, because you can always smell their fish… Bad sign. Not the case here at Andrea’s. I I only buy wild, nitt farm raised, but depending what you like, they have it.

Since we shop at Heflings a lot, we finally decided to try Andreas. We ordered some take out food… a perch dinner and a shrimp dinner. The perch was quite good and there was a lot of it. The shrimp were huge and tasty. The fries… well, just funky fries. Nothing special. The slaw that came with the meals was quite good as well — not carton stuff. All in all, I would recommend giving this place a try. It’s definitely worthwhile.

This stretch of Harper, unlike the husk of Mt. Clemens a few blocks away, is rife with delicious ingredient options. The Amish Market up the street has a great(and carefully hidden) selection of meats from Terra firma and Stahl’s, as far as party stores go, has a deli that puts some Krogers to shame. Andrea’s is the seafood arm of this mighty mecca of meats and it more than delivers upon promises made by the alliteration used to describe it. They have a neat selection of prepared meals, including some deceptively satisfying fish and crab cake sandwiches. The crab cakes themselves won’t be exactly to your personal preferences but they manage to stand up admirably to fancy steak house offerings. A few classic seafood appetizers make an appearance too, for those who want to indulge their guests in someone else’s cooking for a change. The rawer seafood has always been ready to hit the pan and or oven without too much doctoring. It usually doesn’t overwhelm on the intense — and still pleasant — profile associated with some varieties of fish but I’ve never been unrealistically disappointed with what’s been served. The staff seeks to engage you in conversation about their craft in the manner once wisely demanded from local food specialists. Beyond honing your product selection ability, this type of genuine professional interaction is rare to come by in this age and I treasure it wherever it manages to flourish.

Next to the other Amish market, I was hungry and wanted a quick bite after grocery shopping in the freezer. And Andrea’s did not disappoint. Wow. I had a scrod sandwich(2 for 5 dollars). You hear me 2⁄5 dollars. I mean– what could I have expected. The fish was perfectly fried and not fishy. The people were so nice, and I will be back to buy some fish too.

Went in to Andreas today to see what was fresh… how about nothing, The pile of perch filets had that dried out look to them, the rest of the seafood looked mediocre at best. Being the trooper that I am I bought thier house smoke salmon«dry» «too salty» and to top it off I can tell you they smoked an old fish. Needless to say I won’t be going back.
