Terrible service, food was not very good, and the day we were there, someone lit their arm hair on fire with a fajitas order. The whole place filled with smoke, smelled horrible. The only thing good was the salsa.

The best Mexican restaurant in Macomb county! The chicken tortilla soup is my absolute favorite of it’s kind anywhere! The staff is always great too!

Excellent service. Nice atmosphere. Served fresh tortilla chips and salsa to the table. Very good. We ordered the fijitas for two, chicken and beef. When it came the they lit it on fire at the table. Very fun and melts the cheese. However, the fijitas were not the best. The beef was tough and chewy. Sour cream is an extra. Does not come with the meal. The chicken tortilla soup was outstanding. Would return and try this place again.

OHMYGOODNESS. If you love Mexican food, this is the place to be! I am a Mexican food lover, and I tend to be fairly picky about how it tastes. I have never had an issue with any of the food here at Juan Miguel’s. You get free homemade chips and salsa before every meal, and the baskets of chips keep on coming — so you’re pretty much full of spicy, carb-y, salty deliciousness before your actual entrée comes to the table. I am DEFINITELY not complaining though. Because, let’s be honest, who doesn’t love chips and salsa? Juan Miguel’s shredded beef is absolutely amazing and the chicken tortilla soup is to die for!(I don’t even like chicken and the soup is the bomb diggity) Also, the drinks are pretty great. I wouldn’t say that Juan Miguel’s is cheap, but it definitely isn’t super expensive. You for sure get what you pay for, and some. The service is always impeccable, as well. All in all I would highly recommend that people go here because you’ll be so happy afterwards. The food baby you will get after eating here will confirm everything I just said. So go and enjoy Juan Miguel’s!!! I came back here just the other day, and the food was fantastic as always, however there was one server, with blonde/reddish hair and a brace sort of thing on her hand/wrist, that seated me and my friends, and when I asked for a booth she said no and that there were no booths open. But when I looked around, there was one booth that just needed to be cleaned very quickly and two other booths that were open but not reserved. She looked at me like I was an idiot for asking for a booth. That irked me, especially since I have anxiety and it gets worse when I have to sit at a table that’s in the middle of the restaurants and everyone’s crowding me.

My husband and I got the wet burrito. Both of us were expecting red sauce on top but they put what taste like hormel chili on top which was not good. Service was good however. Not authentic Mexican at all.

Always good! Got carry out for the first time tonight. We were not disappointed. Nice to know we have a quality option when we need our fix but don’t feel like dragging the kids out to eat!

Food is really good but the service is even better. Whether you’re ordering for large parties or dining with a loved one you can expect consistency. Great job guys, don’t change a thing!

I’m here on business and a co-worker recommended this place citing the«flaming fajitas». I’m always up for great Mexican food. The place is in a strip mall, which throws it off a little, to me at least. We walked in and place was fairly busy but we were seated after only a few minutes. The store is a bit on the small side but clean. Our waitress arrived promptly and took our drink orders. We, of course, had to try the flaming fajitas. I had the combo chicken /steak. Essentially, when they bring the sizzling fajitas to the table they pour bourbon on it and light it. It melts the cheese and It’s just a great effect and really adds to the experience. Not to mention the fajitas are actually pretty good. I always ask to leave off the onions and green peppers, which they handled with ease. In fact, they’re the only restaurant that already had a plan and it wasn’t an issue. Our waitress was a very nice young lady and she provided some really good service. Kevin, the owner, came by to make sure everything was fine — always appreciate an owner that takes personal pride in his business. This is a local restaurant that’s well worth the visit.

Delicious! Great service, great food. A weekly favorite! The steak tacos are amazing, the staff is always very accommodating, even when they are busy. Great lunch specials. I am sad that I just discovered this gem, and have wasted time on others!

This is a very good Mexican cuisine restaurant. I decided to try it while visiting the area during lunchtime. It is relatively small but cozy and very clean.(FYI it is situated in a shopping plaza next door to «Naughty Time Novelties»: if you have kids, be prepared to fend off questions, lol). I was seated immediately upon arrival. The waiter was an attentive young man, very professional. The menu has a fairly diverse range of Mexican-based dishes, including burritos, tacos, salads, seafood items and more. There is also an «American Fare» mini-menu for those guests(especially kids or set-in-their-ways adults) who just don’t relate to the main cuisine. I started with the chicken tortilla soup.(You can order a cup or a bowl. I ordered a bowl– which was almost a meal in itself.) It was a spicy soup(enjoyable spicy; not super-hot), containing shredded chicken, tomato, onion and very tasty flavors. It was served with tortilla chips and a salsa that was tasty and not too hot.(Side note: I’m not sure if tortilla chips & salsa are«gratis» here like they may be at other locations. Best to ask your server.) I chose to have a «veggie» taco plate: two taco, with the soft flour tortillas deep fried, then filled with refried beans, shredded lettuce, diced tomato and onion(and some spices, I’m sure). The dish included sides of Spanish rice(tomato flavor) and refried beans with melted cheese on top. After eating the soup, I was tempted to only eat half of this, but I finished everything. I’m not much of a dessert person, so I opted not to try sweets. This restaurant is also promoted as a bar, so there is a separate alcoholic beverages menu. I opted for iced tea, which was very nice. Overall, this was a very good selection for lunch. The food is tasty, the prices are fair and the service is good. There are wide-screen televisions situated on the walls– usually with sports channels.

This was our first time here this evening. The staff was warm and welcoming. We had three different people in the hour we were there all ask us how our meal was. Our waiter was great, live entertainment was wonderful. Get the fajitas, they light them on fire at your table!

Just not super impressed. Food was ok, a little expensive for what it was. Seemed canned for the most part. Chips were really greasy. Chicken tortilla soup was pretty good though.

Muy bueno! Truly a very great dining experience and meal. Walking in here is like a reunion as the owner Kevin has been in the business for 20 plus years, even way back when as a server at Pancho Villas, knows and greets 90% of the customers by name. Walked in at 7 pm on a recent Saturday, we were sat immediately and Kyle was our 5 star server. Truly a kind smart young man who kept us buried in chips, three salsas and refills. The Original A+ The Hot A+ The warmed Spanish A+ and a meal in itself with loads of fresh grilled veggies I ordered an Arnold Palmer, and he made it perfectly, plus good fresh brewed tea vs. tap. The shredded beef chili rellenos here is EXCELLENT One of the rare places that uses poblano peppers, plus the meat is tender and the $ 1 up charge for the cheese melted on top is a $ 1 well spent The entrée comes with 2 peppers, rice & beans, but they allow you to swap out rice & beans for a cup of chicken tortilla soup, which is served in a crock, with broiled cheese & a jalapeño pepper (see picture) They have 2 different quesadilla to choose from, we prefer the southwest . As it has melted queso and grilled chicken inside, but vs. being served open faced, it comes grilled. truly grilled with nice charred grill marks, making it sorta like a Mexican grilled cheese . A great dinner for two was $ 24 Only regret was I had no room for a margarita or the flan.

I really hate to rate this so low, but I have to. The manager was really nice. I brought in my 2 kids and he was kind to them. The waitress was also very sweet and attentive. But, I go to restaurants to enjoy the food above all else. I had the Miguels combo. The enchilada was ok. The Flauta was alright. The beef tacos and the bean tostada were quite bland. The salsa was a bit too hot. The chips were nothing special. I now have a bad belly ache. My kids too. Not sure what went wrong, Mexican food usually agrees with me. I used to love this place before it closed years ago. Now I don’t think I’ll be back. Sorry, Juan!

Great place! We went based on Unilocal reviews and really enjoyed it. My husband got the Wet Burrito with shredded beef. It’s huge and was served hot. He loved it. I chose the chicken and cheese enchiladas with the verde sauce. Although our server recommended the special meat sauce I didn’t want that with chicken. It was served on a huge plate with beans and rice. I was very happy it was shredded chicken and I liked the verde sauce. Service was good and quick to get chips and salsa. To get a bit more spice– stir the salsa up. All the food was really good.

Tried this place for the first time, very happy with experience! The flaming fajitas are the best and very tasty! Tortilla soup was authentic and seasoned perfectly! Fried ice cream was yummy too! The waiter was very good, fast and friendly. Will definitely return here. My only reason for 4 stars was because they light the fajitas on fire and the place was very smokey.

It makes a big difference when an owner/operator is involved with his business, especially if they do not have a manager to depend on who takes care of the place like the owner would. Well, Juan Miguel’s owner, Kevin, cares so much about this establishment, and it shows. From the moment you walk into the restaurant, you are greeted with smiling faces(you’d be surprised by how much that is not always the case). Now, I’m not much for eating out at establishments, because I’d much prefer to eat in the comfortable confines of my own edifice, but this is the kind of joint I could kick it in for an hour or so. The servers are a perfect blend of food providers and upselling drinks and food. They are not overly pushy, but mention things in such a way that make you want to get them. Great salesmanship. And that’s not easy to do when the server quickly brings over warm tortilla chips and salsa to start the night out with. The food is outstanding. I’m always down for a combo plate, and that’s what I always get here. But the tacos are superb, as are the homemade chips. My girlfriend loves the Chicken Tortilla Soup, although I’ll admit I’ve never had it myself. I would simply love getting a half pan of chips to go with some salsa, and call it a night! The Chimichanga is another delight, which surprises me, as I hate most fried foods. And let me tell you, the portions are enormous. I’m not much of a food size queen as long as the quality is good, but this is the kind of spot you’d expect a sizable meal, and Juan delivers. All that aside, I’d give JM’s 5 stars if/when they put some black beans on the menu, as that is truly the only issue I have here. Black beans are much healthier and taste much better, so it would be wise and super cool to have that option when dining here. Other than that, if you love great service, authentic Mexican cuisine, and old-school management that goes above and beyond to make you feel at home, then this is the place for you.

Absolutely the best Mexican restaurant in Macomb county. From the minute I walked in the door, I was taken care of. Menu is large enough to have a lot of options yet it’s not too big to where you dot know where to begin. The deep fried flour tacos are AMAZING! The deep fried cheesecake and flan are also great. We will be back!

My boyfriend and I stopped in for lunch last Friday. We were pleasantly surprised the restaurant was empty for our 12:30 lunch date. The waitress quickly served us chips and salsa and took our drink order. Chips tasted on the stale side and store bought. Kind of a disappointment when the restaurant flaunts the words ‘authentic’ every chance it gets. My boyfriend and I ordered the Chicken Tortilla Soup– which the waitress spoke very highly off. The soup is served in a crock, like French Onion is at your local diner, topped with Munster cheese. Definitely wasn’t expecting Munster cheese at a Mexican restaurant but it was actually really good. The soup was on the spicier side with green peppers and onions. Also had shredded chicken, tortilla chips, and rice. The waitress said there was no rice in it when I asked and said it was pulled chicken. I wasn’t arguing because it was good regardless! I ordered the chicken chimichanga meal. It came with two large rolled tortillas stuffed with yummy goodness. On the menu it didn’t say what it included stuffed inside so I had to ask the waitress. I have several food allergies so perhaps they could list what toppings on the menu. I had it with olives, lettuce, chicken, sour cream and cheese. By the time we got our food we were full off soup but the chimichanga was very good. Large portion and very filling. Deep fried to perfection and not burnt by any means. Service was very fast and friendly. I wish the restaurant had an ale cart menu with lots of Mexican goodies on it. The entrees are too large for me and I’m not a beans and rice person so that goes to waste. Prices are on the pricier side compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area. I would return if I had a coupon. Food was very good as well.
