They good have the potential to be a good pool service but the technicians need to be more proactive with troubleshooting issues. It would be nice to be informed of possible issues upon service. Get technicians who care about giving service to the customer. It’s like a car getting an oil change.

Let me start by saying, I had encounters with 5 different employees from J&S Pools. Carly, in the main office, was nice and friendly, and helpful. No problems there. Matt, one of the servicemen that came out to install a pump that I had warranty work done on was good as well. Friendly, on time, courteous, and knew what he was doing. 2 other service techs, they admittedly didn’t really know what they were doing, and didn’t know anything about the cost of the repairs they came to estimate, but they were able to remove the part of my motor that needed to be replaced and went on their merry way. THEOWNER, however, I believe his name is Jim. This guy was the farthest thing from professional I have ever experienced. My Hayward Variable Speed pump stopped working and I called Hayward and they told me that J&S was an authorized warranty provider. I called and scheduled an appointment with Carly to have the above mentioned 2 unnamed service men come to look at my pump. I confirmed with Carly that if this was a warranty issue there would be no cost to me. It was deemed that the motor was burnt out and needed to be replaced. Seeing as how the pump was less than one year old, it was under warranty and there should have been no charge. They took the pump and let me know that a new one would be brought out and installed and should be free as it is under warranty. A few days later, Matt(technician) came and installed the new pump and I confirmed that the pump got warrantied out and there was no charge. I assumed this was the end of my interaction with J&S and to this point everyone had been nice and helpful and I would be using J&S forever. Imagine my surprise when 2 weeks later I receive a bill for nearly $ 100($ 96 I believe) for the service call to install my new pump. Rather than call, I visit the store in person and was greeted by Jim. When I told him who I was, he knew the situation(pump burnt out and got warranties) right away. I mentioned that I had no idea why I was receiving a bill for this service as I was told multiple times that it would be no cost. Jim told me that they were unable to get paid for the repair by Hayward as the pump had no serial number on it and they could not verify the warranty, therefore I had to pay the standard service charge. I asked why I was getting charged when I was told multiple times that I would not be charged a thing. My problem is not that I am being charged because if that is the case that my pump was no longer under warranty then I would have taken that up with Hayward, but the fact that you had 2 different opportunities after the initial service call to tell me there would be charges and you never bothered to mention it. Jim immediately got irate and threw my copy of the bill at me and said, «fine I’ll take care of it, it’s gone. You can leave now» After discussing this with Jim for approximately 5 minutes I was able to DRAG out of him that all I needed to do was provide the serial number and they would be able to get their money for the service from Hayward. So I got Jim’s email, went home, and sure enough in 2 different places on my pump were very large font stamped serial numbers that clearly none of the technicians ever bothered to look for. I sent a picture of them to Jim, even though that should not have been my responsibility. I went out of my way to treat them right, and needless to say, Jim was one of the worst interactions I have ever had. I will NEVER use J&S again and I advise you all to stay away as well.

Priced a new variable speed pump on the phone with plumbing. Came out quickly and on time as promised. Did a little extra work, billed later and helpful with PG&E rebate paperwork. Thanks!

Saw their truck on the road. Our pool needs resurfacing. We made an appointment for someone to provide estimate for repair. They missed the appointment. It was rescheduled. That appointment was a no show. We came home from work especially for the appointment. There was never a call to reschedule. Will not use this service in the future.

I was quite shocked to read all of the bad reviews for this company. I have been with them for years(first with Benelli Pools and later with J & S after they purchased Benelli) and have never had any problems. My pool always looks great and I have never had any issues with it. I can count on Ian arriving every week on his designated day. Whenever there is any issue and they are recommending something about and beyond normal service, they always communicate with me and get my approval ahead of time. I purchased the solar powered pool pump system from them and have been very happy. They installed it and took care of all of the permits with the city. Any time they are about to do something(e.g., annual water test) they always communicate that on the invoice. I have found them to be reasonably priced and dependable. My invoices have always been itemized. The only issue I have had with them is they are not great about responding to emails through their website. So, I always have to wait for business hours to call them. All in all, I have been with them(first Benelli and then J & S) since 1992 and have been very happy.

These guys are HORRIBLE! They tell you they’ll be there on a certain date and do not show up or even call. I had them do a start-up on our pool, they sent a bill and have yet to finish it! They keep telling me they’ll be there, but long story short, I went to Leslies Pool and got the chemicals myself that it needed and am doing it. They are still charging me! They have charged me twice for the same service, their bills are not itemized, only stated as pool service,(which, by the way, we do not have). I cannot stress enough how TERRIBLE their service is! DONOTUSETHEM!

I received my service bill today for $ 170 today for my still un-fixed pool heater so I am going to post my experience to help others avoid throwing away their money as I have. Here is the story. — I had spent considerable money($ 1000+) with J&S upgrading my pool equipment in the past few years prior to my recent terrible experience with them. I called recently because of a problem with my pool/spa heater and they came out for a service call at $ 95.and diagnosed that i needed a new flame sensor. They said they could not supply the part as it was discontinued but i was able to find it on ebay easily(new -$ 50) and purchased it. I contacted J&S and they said a return visit to install it would be an additional $ 65 charge. I asked the owner Jim«what if that doesn’t solve the problem» and he assured me «we’re sure that is the problem» so I agreed to the charge. So hey guess what — the same tech came back and installed the part and it did not solve the problem. So now the tech says«you need a control module» but again we can’t get it. So again I get it(new) on ebay($ 90.) and this time install it myself(pretty easy just a few wires.) and hey guess what — again it does not solve the problem. — At this point I say enough and I email J&S to send me their bill I am done with them. — To be fair, the J&S tech«Josh» was a very nice guy, but I could have thrown parts at the problem myself. i don’t think it is unreasonable to expect a correct diagnosis for the steep service fees J&S charges. In conclusion I feel I have thrown away a considerable amount of money at this point. If you go with J&S for service, I hope you experience is better than mine. If I were J&S I would be embarrassed about this completely truthful account of my experience with them.

I found J & S and Leisure Living at the home show this year. I was so impressed with the way I was treated I did not go back to any of the other places I had visited. I was looking for a gas heated table and an outdoor fireplace. The price I got was very competitive and the quality was awesome. Not only did I received great service at the home show, they came to my house before I even had my items delivered to move a large island BBQ that I had bought years ago, to make room for my new purchase. They arrived with smiles and awesome help with getting my patio ready for what I had purchased. I went to a competitor on Tollhouse and was treated like I WASLUCKY if they even talked to me. I could not get a quote until I begged(which was almost double the cost of J.& S) I cannot thank the team at J and S and Leisure Living enough for their kindness and the beautiful outdoor fireplace and table that I know I will enjoy for years to come. J & S and Leisure Living in Clovis are number 1 in my book, and I’m not easy to please!
