The food was really good-a little on the expensive side-but still good! I had a mix tostada, and my boyfriend had the ceviche and crab tostada, which we both happily ate. While the food was pretty good, the atmosphere was terrible. We arrived at Mariscos at 4 pm on a Sunday, and the band was already playing full force. It was so loud that we couldn’t even talk to our waitress; we simply had to point to the menu and hope she got our order right. Our date turned into a very lonely dinner because we could barely hear ourselves think let alone talk to one another. I would not suggest this place if you want to have a decent conversation to the person you went with. I really didn’t understand why this one area of seating had a band with speakers for each instrument. All together way too loud.

Sooo good! Best shrimp cocktail ever! It was so fresh with such bold flavors. If I lived here I would visit weekly!

This is family owned restaurant which was opened under a month ago. I found it to be very good. I had a whole fried fish, mojarra and it was delicious. My wife had a seafood soup which was also very good. The corn tortillas were home made and very tasty. I will definitely be back. The prices were also good.

This place gave my friend & I bad stomachaches & the runs– yuck! Went here tonight with friends who said they had good seafood. Only good thing about this place was our server. Mariachi band was WAY too loud. Couldn’t hear myself think yet alone talk to my friends. 2 different tables of drunk idiots across the room who were about to fight, until«security» guards showed up. However 1 security guard kept shaking hands with the groups of guys like he was their«homie.» Then 3 of the belligerent, drunk guys disappear into the bathroom for about 20 minutes. Everyone knew what they were doing. Mind you there were babies & kids in here. Then 1 comes over to our table & starts crazy talking to us, couldn’t hear him ’cause the loud ass Mariachi band, but he was so drunk & high as a kite. Then he started doing 1 handed push-up’s on the floor. Not to mention there was a sign on the wall that read«no firearms allowed in here.» WTF?! If ya gotta post that– you know you’re in the ghetto. Seriously was waiting for a fight & gunshots to go off. Shrimp cocktail was good, my stuffed seafood relleno sucked. Shrimp appetizers were horrible & extremely spicy. This place should be shut down.

I have never understood how the Coachella Valley could have Mexicans from every state in Mexico, each one more diverse than the last, each one remembering the sweet, savory flavors and smells from South of the Border… and yet every Mexican restaurant here tastes the same, and offers the same menu. By and large, I have cut Mexican food from my diet because the majority of the offerings here are lackluster and bland. I never understood how we as a community let this happen. How is it we don’t ask for more? Demand more? Mexico has an exciting, vibrant culinary tradition that is as complex and has a depth of flavor as any great world cuisine; when did we let it go the way of standard resort fare? So it is when I went to El Capitan that I was hooked. This, THIS is the flavor I was looking for, the explosiveness, this was food that is truly alive(in flavor, you don’t eat anything that still has a heartbeat). Look, I’m not going to tell you what I had, I’m not going to tell you what’s good. I won’t do this because you need to explore. You need to break free from the shackles of cheese enchiladas, hard shell tacos and chili colorado. You can get those anywhere. Those aren’t special. This is special. Break free. Demand more. Patronize this place. I’ll tell you right now, they are NOT sponsoring this review, and they have no need to. It’s that good. Will you like everything? I highly doubt it. That’s not the point here. The point is that they are breathing new life into a very wanting culinary scene here in the Desert. Will you take them in too?

I really like this place. Their specialty is truly seafood. I’ve been here twice and loved it every time. I recommend the chilitos torrito. They were very good! The place does need a little bit of more upkeep. Yet I know it’s hard because they are always packed.

me and a friend went to el capitan and she didn’t like it at all lol but I think is better when you sit at the table and eat then ordering to go when you don’t even know what they put in your bag.

I have been here numerous times and the service seems to get worse. Granted they have good food, but by the time you get your food drink one wants just leave.

Took my crew here for lunch. Eight of us had fantastic food, generous portions and good music. Don’t expect much from the sushi but everything else was very good. All eight of us enjoyed every bite. Huge chavelas too! My whole crew said Saturday night this is the place to be A little pricy but I thought it was worth what we got

Always a good time whenever we come here, food and drinks are great and service is always awesome. If you get a chance, try their chavelas and shrimp cocktail. Their burritos and quesadillas are also some of my favorites. Haven’t had a chance to try their sushi but it’s on my to-do list for the next visit!

Place had really good seafood. Their campechana had really good flavor and their fajitas de pollo were awesome. The only thing I recommend is to change their salsa recipe. They could do a lot better on the salsa they give with the tortilla chips. The place has a nice ambiance with banda music playing in the background. Their waitresses are prompt and helpful. It doesn’t hurt that they are also good looking.

I’m giving it 3 stars, not because of the food but bad service. Me and my partner ordered our food and we waited for 40 minutes for the food to come to our table. I know we could of got up and left but we where too hungover to look for a new place to eat. Other than bad service, the food was very delicious. The campechana was super bomb and the aguachiles.

First time here a week ago. I love seafood and they didn’t disappoint. I had the El Maleficio and it was great. The aguachile shrimp was perfect. The slices of pulpo(octopus for all the greengos) were tender and delishious. Wash it all down with an iced cold chavela and it’s hard to beat. Will definitely go back. P. S. My buddy Alex said that the place is crazy packed on the weekends!

We were here a week ago.(The night of the big boxing match). I’m giving it 4 stars because of the guy who served us while seated at the bar. He was extremely knowledgeable and had a GREAT personality! VERYHOSPITABLE and gave GREAT service!!! He made us feel very comfortable in a place that may not typically desire such white people as ourselves. Lol. They had an armed security man pacing the restaurant which was a bit scary and alarming. We’re definitely not used to that kind of dining situation. The food was interesting. My husband had a shrimp dish which was fine, and I made my own dish. A chile relleno and taco. Both were fine, but nothing to write home about. Overall, we won’t be back. There are better places in the valley. We were only here because we went somewhere somewhat close to the casino to watch the fight.

What am I doing in a seafood restaurant when I don’t eat fish? Their fajitas are really good! I first came here based on a personal recommendation. At $ 13.99, the fajitas are priced lower than most in the Coachella Valley, but still priced a littler high for the neighborhood. Delicious, tender meat and a real treat. The dish comes out sizzling hot and a good portion. On the side are rice, beans, sour cream, salsa and guacamole. Service was a little confused on the first visit, but I think it was too close to their opening and staff was still learning. Since then, service has been attentive. The menu is huge with mostly seafood. The décor is marine-style with lots of TVs. The booths are comfortable, but I think the tables are a little too close together and the table numbering is a bit busy.

This type of restaurant reminds me of the many in Mexicali. The food is good and the service is above average. The servers are quite new and it shows.
