My husband and I were in the area, and we were looking for the Stanstrings Family Kitchen; however, the particular restaurant has been closed since January and was replaced with Cobbs Creek Diner. They’ve been around since March of this year, so they are fairly new! It is a family-owned and –operated restaurant, and they serve up different types of BBQ(chicken, rack of ribs, brisket, and wings). They also pretty much homemake the sides(cole slaw, potato salad, mashed potatoes, and beans) as well as the desserts(pound cake, German chocolate cake, Swiss cake, etc.). You can almost miss this restaurant as there is a curve along the main road, but just look for the large ‘BBQ’ sign. The restaurant itself looked so cute, as they had a little porch with some wooden picnic tables, and interior was decorated with country kitchen utensils and knick-knacks! Apparently, the owner, Big Daddy, gutted and remodeled the place on his own, so I thought that was pretty impressive! He has his homemade smoker out in the back, and him and Miss Jonnie, are the two cooks in the kitchen. The server was Big Daddy’s daughter, and she was really sweet! We shared a Big Daddy pulled pork sandwich with a side of Hush Piggies(bbq pulled pork in the hushpuppies batter). The only BBQ sauce that they had was the vinegary-kind, so I wasn’t much of a fan. However, with the Texas Pete hot sauce, it was better. I wasn’t too keen on the pulled pork, as it was quite wet and more on the bland side; however, I did like the Hush Piggies, as they were dark little fried balls with a little bit of bbq pork inside — great for munching! We also got a regular pound cake and an orange pound cake to go — the regular poundcake was super moist and delicious, but the orange one was a little wet and moist(some weird condensation going on). I loved how they also sell fresh farm eggs by the dozen(see the poster by the cashier). This seems to be a favorite among the locals, and I’m glad I was able to check this place out! +Hush Piggies +regular pound cake

I have eaten here several times. The food has always been good. I like the bar b que sandwich and the home made chips. I have also gotten the briscuit a couple of times and absolutely LOVE the onion marmelade that comes with it. My daughter is very fond of the chicken bar b que wrap. The décor is homey, with picnic tables and local photos. Friendly staff.
