Worst Johnny Rockets in the world! We love Johnny Rockets for a quick meal before or after the movies. Last night, we didn’t have much time so we went straight there. Bad decision. The place was busy but they had only 2 servers(the worst 2 servers Miami has to offer work there). They showed up to clean the table from the previous guests 10 minutes after we arrived; brought the menus 5 minutes later. Took the order right away and we waited 20 minutes for a sweet potatoes appetizer, drinks(3 sodas) came after we asked 4 times and I went inside and showed my ugliest face. 10 minutes later(30 minutes after we ordered) we got the order: All messed up! Bottom line: This corporation needs to bring a new staff, starting with an experienced manager and pay 1 dollar more per hour, maybe they get better staff. Never again, Johnny Rockets, our friendship ends here.

I had been to some Johnny Rockets before, but this one was especially nice. The service was incredible. We sat down at the bar because tables outside were occupied. The waitress who served us was an older woman, that I don’t remember her name, but she was really friendly, We had such a great time there. Food was great too! I will definitely go back if I go back to Miami!

Everyone loves an American staple! The great thing about this joint is no matter where you are in America, you can always grab a delicious quick burger, a creamy shake, and enjoy some throwback tunes… and it will always be the same! Close your eyes and you will be transported to a time where poodle skirts and leather jackets were everyday attire(is it obvious my 50s references only stem from Grease). The best part about this location is its oh so helpful proximity to bars. What’s greater than a juicy burger at 2 am after a college-night– of — drinking? Plus, just in case the bars are too full, this family-friendly establishment serves beer.

Our waitress was very nice. The milk shake was decent. The Big Girl had a nice time. I do not like the food here. Some of the music annoys the hell out of me. I’ve been to other locations & for some reason the experience was better. I only recommend coming here if you have nowhere left to go. Lo siento.

I won’t let the nostalgia of the 50’s cloud my review. I loved the 50’s and the diner food that was so common, but in all honesty it wasn’t very good. It tasted great to me, a teenager with an uneducated, undiscerning, indiscriminate palate at the time, however, I’ve come to know that it really wasn’t. What Johnny Rockets does, however, it does rather well with decent service and some diner burgers very reminiscent of those I had in the 50’s and, though somewhat pricier than a modern day McDonalds, far superior in quality, service and overall ambiance. I would also add that this location is not my first Johnny Rockets experience and not my first here. Comparing this location to the rest, it’s my favorite, conveniently located next to the Coco Walk and offer a good vantage point from which to engage in some casual people watching.

Agree with some of the other diner reviews. The place has good service and that same good menu you can count on Johnny Rockets for. I had a root beer float and my husband had a milkshake, we both had bacon burgers and shared some sweet potato fries. Great burgers — they definitely do those right. The only thing that was a bit of a «miss» was ranch dressing with sweet potato fries — not really the best compliment — chipotle mayo or some other sweet dressing works better. All-in-all a good old fashioned diner experience that you would expect. Nice to enjoy the people-watching outside around Cocowalk. So if the weather is good — pull up a chair in the sun — order some comfort food and enjoy!

I like an old-timey diner as much as the next guy, but every time I walk by this Johnny Rockets I wonder why people are eating here. The food really is nothing to be excited about. At all. And it is expensive for burgers, fries, and shakes. I like the dancing servers, but I am not sure that is the best reason to eat somewhere. And I don’t think it happens very often. If you are in the Grove and you need a hamburger and fries, go to Taurus. If you are dying to eat a burger and fries at a chain restaurant, go to Cheesecake Factory or even Chili’s. If you want a cheap chain restaurant, go to Five Guys on US1. And if you don’t mind driving to the beach, get in your car and go to Shake Shack. All of those places are better than this Johnny Rockets. I promise. I guess that if you are in the Grove, you want to eat outside on the corner of a busy intersection, you have money to burn on mediocre food, and you are filled with happiness that there is an off chance that your waiter will spontaneously perform a choreographed dance routine, then this Johnny Rockets is the place for you.

No. Waiter was nice, but provided horrible service. Waited 20 minutes for him to come to our table. Forgot 60% of everything we asked him for. Food was not gross, not good. And fries aren’t included with your entrée. It cost $ 40 for us to eat here and all we got were sub-par burgers, hot dogs and fries… no milkshakes. Ridiculous. Save yourself some time, money and calories. If you want to indulge in a good burger and have a good experience, go elsewhere. Restaurant suggestion: Hire more help or hire servers that are better at multi-tasking.

The thing about this Johnny Rockets is I used to work across the street at Starbucks so I used to come in here all the time and I really feel as though I can give a fair, unbiased accurate review. Pros: I ate here alot, so in a way that says something. I obviously enjoyed the food. And with good reason, the food here is good! Granted, its not gourmet food by any stretch of the imagination, but its what you’d expect from any standard Johnny Rocket — greasy burgers, greasy fries, creamy delicious shakes, etc. I never had a bad meal here. Everything always felt fresh, I never got a stale dinner, etc. So thumbs up on serving a respectable product. Cons: Service is a big one. Sometimes we would get a great waiter who was attentive and accommodating, and then sometimes we would sit for 15 – 20 min before anyone would even bother taking our drink order! Let alone our food order. Its Johnny freaking Rockets, we shouldn’t have to wait 30 min for our waiter to just take our order. And most of the time they weren’t even very busy. So that was very frustrating. Another Con was, while their outside seating area was nice and mostly clean, the inside was another story. Downright vile. So much so that I stopped eating inside at one point just because I was positive at some point I’d see something I didn’t want to see, and then I wouldn’t be able to eat here again. Haha. But apparently that never stopped me from eating outside. Maybe I was paranoid, I dont know, it was just really grungy inside. This is a great place to people watch if you eat outside. The outside seating is right on the corner of Grand Ave so you have a front row seat to watch practically everyone in Coconut Grove walk by. If you love people watching, you’ll love it here. Thats about all I can say! Haven’t been back in months since I stopped working in the Grove. Will definitely be back one day.

This is another of those chain places that zaps my creativity. The miniscule portion of fries(not included as a combo) for the same price as the ginormous(and spicy ones from one of the other novelty burger chains) punches the first leak hole, and the 15% automatic tip further kills the buzz. I won’t complain about the chicken burger, since it does have a little bit of a kick and at least fill out the bread. The free soda refills make the $ 2 price tolerable. Service was a little slow when I walked in, but seeing the dance show for one of the other customers adds another star.

I don’t think I will be going to this Johnny Rockets anytime soon. It’s clear to me when I was there during the King Mango Strut parade that they can’t handle a busy day! I stood at the cashier waiting for someone to place my order for 10 – 15 minutes. It took a patron who came in after whom and me was seated and helped to tell someone that I’ve been waiting! I just ordered fries and a soda and the total for the order was $ 5 and change. I gave the cashier/server $ 20.00. She gives me back $ 13 and change. So I told myself to calculate what she should have given me: «$ 14.08 back!» Instead she takes out her wallet and dumps out her coins on the counter! She was looney for real! I was hungry and pissed, so I left! Wasn’t worth the frustration! But it was madness in there! Even the manager looked lost that day! Reason I’m giving it 2 stars: the fries were so good! As for customer service? Terrible!!!

This Johnny Rockets is the same as any other in the nation. However, this place gets its stars for their service. I think this location upholds what the good old fifties’ styled diner stands for. Our waitress was able to make suggestions on different dishes and sizes. We were also in a hurry, and she helped our orders run through quickly and did it with a smile. Great place.

Summary: Location gets four stars, Food gets five stars, Price gets three stars, and Service gets five stars. Details: I should preface this review that 1) I don’t live in Miami, 2) I’ve only been to this Johnny Rocket’s three times in my life, and 3) I haven’t been to this Johnny Rocket’s in about a year. Hopefully you’ll understand why I’m writing this review after reading further. Let’s start with location… perfect for my purposes. I typically stay with friends that live less than a five minute walk from this location, and it’s near the mall area, so it all works out just fine when I visit on vacay. They have both indoor seating and outdoor seating, though the indoor seating is limited and only with their standard bar-style seating. I have always eaten inside(I’m from the Midwest, we don’t take too kindly to baking while we eat). The food — fantastic! Now, you should know that my experience has been limited to the hot dogs, but these are some of the best. They cut the dog in half, and lay it on the same grill they use to make the hamburgers. You get the flavor of the hamburger on the hot dog, which is just wonderful. They also toast the hot dog bun on the grill… double the flavor! The fries are made fresh and served hot(typically before the hot dog or hamburger arrives), and the portions are decent. The shakes are wonderful, though I typically go with a diet coke — the shake can be a meal unto itself! Now, the reason for my review — the service. When I first visited this place(we’re talking summer of 2004), I came for lunch, had a seat inside and started reading a book. A waitress came over timely, asked me what I wanted, and then asked where I was from. We talked cordially for a few minutes, and chatted in between her attending the other customers. Nothing too memorable… or at least I didn’t think it was. Fast forward to the fall of 2006, my second trip to Miami. I had a taste for a JR hot dog, so I made my way back to the same location. Walked in, sat down with a book, and I noticed the same waitress from two years earlier was working. She gave me one look, and said, «Hey, I remember you, from Chicago, right?» I was floored! What a memory on this women! We talked again, cordial, nothing too private or invasive. Another pleasant experience. Fast forward to summer of 2009. Back in Miami, still jones’n for a JR hot dog. I make my trip over, book in hand, wondering if the same waitress was still working there. And wouldn’t you know it — same waitress again, and I’ll be darned, she remembered me again! I know, I know… having a good memory doesn’t necessarily make for good service. But you know what, that kind of connection definitely leaves an impression. I like that«where everybody knows your name» kind of vibe, and I’ve had good experiences with that at Johnny Rocket’s. At the JR’s that used to exist downtown on Delaware(*tear* for its closing a year or so ago), I could come in, sit down, and the regular lunch waitress wouldn’t even need to ask me what I wanted(I supposed it helped that I ate there a little bit more than often). It left me with a good feeling, both for a place that I frequented frequently and a place that I frequented rarely. So for this Johnny Rocket’s and those that still, and used to, exist, you’re a five-star place to me! P. S. If anyone from Johnny Rocket’s is reading this — please, please, PLEASE re-open a location in downtown Chicago! :-)

I was craving a milkshake, and because we were in the Grove — we decided to stop for a milkshake and a ½ and ½(the quintessential Johnny Rockets meal). The shake was OK. It was a little watery but I don’t think that’s the norm here — you just have to get lucky with your server because they make the shakes themselves. It was quite windy outside and everything flew right on to me — yes, including the remnants of my shake. I’ll go back, just on a better day.

It’s been a while since I’ve eaten at Johnny Rockets, but a nice day like today would have been wasted if we had lunch indoors. Love the Chili Cheese Fries and the Route 66 Burger. Of course, gotta have a Root Beer to wash it down. Great little place to sit outside and people watch.

Get your burger, fries and a shake in a 50’s theme atmosphere. I’ve been here a few times because it’s a great location to just hang out and watch the crowd while chewing down a greasy burger and slurping a shake. Never thought to review it before George. I’ve waited tables and thought I did a good job in my day but this guy brought a whole new meaning to customer service. He could teach a class to other waiters and waitress on how to double their tips. I’ve been to very pricey places and this guy is truly in a class of his own. Gave them 5 stars because they are exactly what they claim but with exceptional service from George.

There is really not much to review about this place it is true old fashioned American. Good Shakes, regular burgers and fries. It’s location is simply unbeatable… to be able to sit in a busy street corner and watch people and cars while you enjoy your good old American burger… this is life !!!
