2 weeks after having hip surgery, my son, a freshman at UMD began his PT at Pivot. With very little supervision he was sent to do exercises and left. Very little personal attention, no Stim, Ice, manipulation(All of which he received from his PT at home). After his 2nd visit he was in unusual pain in his hip, he told the therapist on his next visit and was told«Well, I don’t know why that is…» Our surgeon told us to leave them at once. And we have.

My last PT experience at a different office was horrifying, but coming here was my best decision ever! Eric is amazing. 3 weeks into PT(2 ½ months after my ACL reconstruction surgery) and I can feel my knee getting a lot stronger. I have almost all of my flexibility back and I can see my leg muscles returning back to its original size. The facility is really open and the environment is welcoming. Every one is really friendly, so I definitely recommend this place!

Great facility. Parking is kind of weird, but out of their control. So, if you need to go here, park in the back of the building. They have their own entrance and an extra exit off the back. Also, make sure you heed the parking signs. Various DC metro sports memorabilia adorn the walls. When I went they were never too busy and the waiting room chairs are extra wide, like could fit two of me wide. I guess if you’re a defensive tackle and you need physical therapy, you don’t want to be sitting on a folding chair, so that’s fair. The staff knows what they are doing, and I had maybe 3 appointments for a bulging disc in my neck. All the staff that I saw were pretty young, so that made me feel good(and old). Eric gave me some home exercises to do including a sheet of paper explaining what to do. It’s very clean in there, and they have a great selection of equipment, but not that you can really choose which one you use, because, you know, you’re in there for something specific. If I ever need physical therapy again, I’d definitely go back here.

This Pivot physical therapy office was recommended to me by a couple of former classmates from the University of Maryland. The office has a knowledgable, kind, hard-working, well-educated, and professional staff, supported by several interns with varying levels of education and experience. The high ratio of staff+interns to patients means that you get more individual attention here than at other physical therapy offices. I read the other Unilocal review and the response I would give is that if something hurts tell your therapist immediately, don’t wait until the 8th visit. Pivot shares a waiting room with University of Maryland Orthopaedics, which is very convenient as it allows face-to-face interaction between your orthopedist and physical therapist, and easy transfer of referrals and medical reports. It could not be more convenient. I have come to Pivot for a couple of different sports injuries and will return when I inevitably hurt myself again trying to recapture my glory days(hopefully not soon!). I have recommended Pivot to my wife and now am extending that recommendation to you strangers on the Internet.

If you are a mature adult who needs to get well in a professional medical environment do not go here. It is more like a playground of self-centered student intern Physical Therapists than anything else. It is a very tiny room/facility, with little to no air-conditioning(it is turned off when the therapist is feeling cold even though it may be 97 degrees outside) and the therapists and front desk person don’t have a clue with people skills and seem irritated giving you what you need medically and struggle to pay good money for. They didnt even watch what I was doing unless I happen to ask them if I am doing it right. I found out I was doing something wrong and hurt my back only after 8 sessions and asking about it. Feels like a joke with a real license to continue treating serious recovering patients. Dont waste your health, recovery investment and time going here. None of them in there could care less and worse, you could get hurt!
