I live in Brookhaven and there a at least a dozen overpriced eyelash extension bar near me. I did a search for eyelash bars on the southside(near work) and found Swan Skin & Nail Spa. They are great! Professional staff and a cozy and clean environment. The manager Charley O did my lashes and I am more than happy with them. I got them done on Nov. 21 at an overpriced eyelash bar in Sandy Springs. My eyes were a bit irritated so I found Swan’s a week later for removal. Charley O removed my lashes and explained that they lady used to much glue and skipped every other lash. I made my appt with her for a week later and bam!!! perfect lashes. Go check them out. They are great.

My flight kept getting delayed, so on my way to the airport, I decided to find a spa which is how I found Swan. I wanted to do a facial, but the tech wasn’t available yet and was booked one her hours did start. I opted to go with a mani/pedi. I tried the all-natural polish, but it was gummy for a long time; I ended up with the regular type. I’ve never had a mani/pedi that wasn’t in those big electronic chairs. Here it’s an actual basin and you’re sitting on an upholstered bench. It’s quaint. It took a really long time. After almost two hours, I had to go without getting polish on my hands because I was going to be late to the airport. I guess my parting impression is one of being wildly underwhelmed.

First, let me start with how much I love the design! I loved the idea of making an old apartment into a spa! It’s decorated very nicely and it’s soooooooo cute! I went in for a full facial wax and eyebrow wax and Tutti was very professional, but also very personable. Me and other clients were talking as if we’d known each other forever which is what I liked the most. I hate going to a business where I can only talk to the employee or hell no one at all. I felt very comfortable with Tutti waxing my face as I usually get nervous when someone sees how much facial hair I had.(I think I was beginning to sport a goatee). Bottom line: Go here for anything you need done!

I visited this salon because of a Groupon. Unfortunately, my Groupon was not properly honored because the owner(Swan) did not understand the rules of Groupon. I tried to explain it to her, but she didn’t believe me. I was required to pay the difference between the price of the service and the Groupon face value. I found the owner to be lacking in the friendly, customer service department. It is one thing that the owner and I did not agree about how the Groupon could be used, because I could have been wrong. But there’s a way that one can be friendly and understanding, while saying no at the same time. I didn’t receive the friendly and understanding part. However, I did phone Groupon afterwards and they confirmed that the owner was incorrect and Groupon refunded my money. Groupon said they will notify the owner to tell her the rules. I love Groupon! But I digress… On to the service… I went in for a man-pedi. I live a few miles away from the spa, but had never been to that area of College Park. It is lovely! I didn’t have time the day I went to the spa, but I will be going back to that part of Main Street soon to explore all of the other little stores that are there. I digress again… I walked in to the spa and was greeted by the receptionist who asked me to sign in. The owner was there doing a manicure, but she did not greet me. No one told me where to sit while waiting for my nail tech, but after standing around for a minute, I finally figured it out. The salon is small, but cozy — maybe three or four manicure stations and about the same number of pedicure stations. It’s a little rustic, but with feminine girly-girl touches at the same time. Ranita was the specialist that attended to me; she has a very warm personality and I enjoyed her. We first started with the pedicure. I appreciated that the services were done separately because at other spas, they do the manicure and pedicure at the same time and, to me, it is not relaxing having two people work on you, tugging in different directions, asking you to put this foot there, move that hand here, etc. However, I was disappointed that the Swan spa doesn’t have massage chairs while you’re getting your manicure like at other places. The pedicure seating is instead a hard, long, bench type thing, but with pretty pillows so you can at least sit against the back comfortably. I enjoyed the pedicure. Ranita did a great job and gave helpful suggestions on how to care for my feet. The manicure was average. The price of the mani-pedi is higher than at other salons. However, I normally still would have made a future appointment with Ranita. But because of the combination of the unfriendliness of the owner, the lack of massage chairs AND the higher price — I probably won’t return.

Massage review: Bottom line, pick another salon. The massage table is hidden by curtains that you can see thru, not in a designated massage room. The owner blasts loud music, the windows are open which allows you to hear the train passing by. Nothing about this experience was relaxing. The therapist was just«ok», his technique was good but lacks finess & professionalism. Oh & there was no where to place your clothes, no lockers, no closet not even a chair. The sheets on the table were see thru thin & dingy. Mani/pedi review: The tech was nice & attentive but very slow as it took almost 2hrs for this service. My polish only lasted 4 days & was dull in less time. I really wanted to have a good review for this black owned business, very disappointed.

I found this place thanks to a Groupon for semi-permanent lashes. It’s a very cozy, clean establishment. Swan is both nice and very professional. I loved my eyelashes. I received so many compliements. I even went in for a follow up to get the lashes filled in. The original set lasted right at 3 weeks. I was able to keep the fill ins for about 3 weeks after. So for the price, I got a great deal. To top things off, I accidentally left my iPad 3 in the shop. I didn’t realize that I had left it there until someone from the shop called me to ask if it was missing. They even stayed open a little later so that I could get it. True professionals. I want to try the nail portion. Will definitely go back!

Swan Skin & Nail Spa is a cozy nail salon in downtown College Park, near Feed Store and above a barber shop. It has a warm atmosphere with exposed brick, blue walls, and comfortable chairs and sofa. They have a few different polishes including OPI, their own brand, and a gel. I visited with a Groupon for a spa manicure and pedicure. Renita was my technician for both services and did a fabulous job. She was very sweet and pleasant to talk to. I am finished with the quick service nail salons where you feel like everyone is talking about you in another language, and this was a perfect upgrade close to home.
