Vito’s seems to be a solid neighborhood pizza joint, that impresses with its food and specials. My husband and I had dinner here on a Sunday night. We ordered a pitcher of Bud Light($ 4, on special), a slice of thin crust vodka sauce pizza, and a philly cheese steak combo(sandwich, 8 mozzarella sticks, and a soda). The food was tasty, and reminded us of the PA/NJ thin crust pizza and Italian food we love. The total was about $ 14.50 for the entire spread. They have some type of food and/or drink specials every day. The best deal that I saw was half-price pizza on Tuesdays – $ 6 for an 18″ thin crust cheese pizza. We’ll definitely be back!

Better than Ratsies or Ledo’s, I’ll give it that. I like how Vito’s is becoming a replacement hangout since all the bars in downtown CP are closing left and right. I like that they have live music and take part in fundraisers. What a nice little joint.

I tried Vito’s because of the great reviews it got, and I have no idea what everyone else ate because it wasn’t the pizza I got. Slimy canned mushrooms top the list — the pizza was almost inedible. I usually give most places a second try, but it was truly disgusting.

This is excellent, NY-style pizza in College Park. If you are craving real pizza, you have got to hit this place to grab some slices . Driving through College Park today, I found myself craving NY-style pizza. I drove down Route 1, thinking there had to be a place along the main route. At the corner of Baltimore Ave and Hartwick Road, the VITO’s Pizzeria sign caught my eye. I grabbed a street parking spot and walked in. The first test for a true pizzeria is if they sell slices at the counter. I’m talking multiple pies, fresh from the oven so you know immediately if it’s a place to stay and mangia or grab a to-go menu and bolt. VITO passed this initial test easily! As I walked into the store, Vito and his crew were pulling pies from the oven for the ‘slices’ display. They had about seven out with a few more finishing in the oven. Every pizza looked delicious and the place smelled so good it made me want to take a bite out of the counter. The next test is a slice of the plain. VITO’s pizza passed again. Their plain, cheese is a good-sized slice(two will fill you) with fruity tomoato sauce, a perfectly thin-yet-chewy crust and good-quality mozzarella cheese. I also threw down a slice of vodka-sauce with sausage. This was delicious. The crust, sauce and cheese formed a perfect platform for the star of the slice — the sausage. You get several long slices of real Italian sausage on each slice of this pizza. It has excellent flavor with the porky-goodness and fennel taste of a good Italian sausage. The guys who work in the store are very friendly. Vito, the guy at the register and the guys in the kitchen slinging pies make you feel at home and find the right slice for your taste. If you are any where near College Park and want to taste some great pizza, you have to go to VITO’s.

If only Vito’s had been around between 2000 – 2004 when I went to UMD, I would have been a happy camper! I stopped by today after a recommendation from a friend and I couldn’t be any happier. I haven’t had NY style pizza like this anywhere in DC — tasty crust, delicious sauce, and cheese melted just right — nice and hot out of the oven :) Who could ask for more? And I didn’t have to. As I was raving about how much I was enjoying the cheese pizza Vito himself brought over a slice of his Vodka Sauce pizza. Oh. My. Wow. The vodka sauce is his own recipe and the ratio of sauce to cheese is so perfect, that it’s a rich pizza but not overly rich like other places. I’ll definitely be back to try some of his other pizzas and other menu items and I can’t wait until he expands his place — it’s going to be busy but well worth it! Vito himself is also a great guy — he greets every customer as they walk in, knows familiar faces, and is just so hospitable. It was refreshing to see an owner who cares so much about his business and is so involved. Another thing I love is his graffiti wall in the back — he even said I could paint on there so I plan on going back next week to take him up on it! What a way to get your guests to interact and have fun while enjoying some yummy pizza. Even if you aren’t in the College Park area but craving NY style pizza, I encourage you to stop by Vito’s. You’ll be so happy that you did and your tastebuds will love you forever.
