Steak ‘n Shake

Service was extremely slow the place appeared to be understaffed. The temperature inside was a whopping 60 degrees and while we asked several times for assistance with freezing no one did anything. Our milkshakes arrived in 16 oz styrofoam cups instead of the 20 oz glasses. When our food finally arrived everything was barely warm like it had been sitting in the back for a while. We have eaten here before and everything was really good this visit was a disappointment.

I was hesitant to try this place because i wasn’t sure what a steak burger was, but I’m glad I gave this place a try. The food is really good and they have so many different varieties of burgers, fries, and drinks. They are a little more expensive than I’d like, but that almost doesn’t matter.

First of all I’d like to address the low ratings from others regarding the drive thru. This place is cook to order so of course you will have a longer wait than McDonald’s where your food has sit in a warmer for a hour. I’ve been here several times to dine in and the drive thru. The food is great and the milkshakes are amazing and the food cost are comparable to fast food joints. I would not categorize this place as a fast food place though and if you are on a time pinch you are better off getting your hour old burger from McDonald’s. However if you have time and want a great burger and an amazing milkshake you will not be disappointed.

Quite disappointed with this «Fast» food restaurant today. This particular location has the slowest drive thru service I have ever encountered. With only five vehicles ahead of me, I waited 31 minutes!!! Thank goodness I was not on my lunch break. The first time I visited was a few months ago and the wait was 20 minutes. I thought I would give them a second try and there was no improvement. I have visited a location in Texas and the drive-​thru service was excellent. If I could have left the line, I would have after 15 minutes, but you are pretty much trapped in the line. I will not be visiting again unless I am the only one in line. Sorry for the 2 stars, but you if you are in the fast food category, there has to be changes to improve the quality of service.

I honestly cannot review the food, because we never had the opportunity to order! The hostess was unfriendly, unhelpful and acted as if it pained her to have to answer a question. When asked if we placed to go orders at the register, she mustered up the sarcasm to roll her eyes and say, «I guess.» I will not pay for the opportunity to be treated rudely.

This is probably the worst restaurant that I have ever been to. Very long wait times for food (at least 30 mins.), restaurant was dirty, and waitress got two of our three orders wrong.

I’ve been sitting in this drive through for 17 minutes. I’ve ordered and now I sit, trapped. Cars in front, cars behind. Are you looking for FAST food? Maybe you thought a drive through window indicated such? KEEP DRIVING. This is not it.
No comment on the food, obvs, but $ 10 says it’s sitting on a counter somewhere growing cold.

For once I disagree with the two star overall rating of this restaurant. In fact, I am quite shocked. I am a tough but fair critic… in my humble opinion. Glad I didn’t see the two stars before I tried because 99 percent of the time I check reviews before trying a restaurant and count on Unilocal.
Two of us didn’t have a lot of time and not from the area. We spotted this cute restaurant with the drive thru window thinking it was a fast food McDonald or Burger King style restaurant. We went inside and was surprised it was actually a full service restaurant. It was bright and cheery, clean and ideal for lunch. We were warmly greeted and seated at a booth. Prices were surprisingly inexpensive. Had to order a milkshake. That was probably the best milkshake I have had since I was a toddler. It was thick, large, and memorable. I had to eat most with a spoon. I couldn’t even finish it… and…about 4pm I was thinking… boy I want the rest of that shake! My grilled chicken sandwich was fresh, and delicious. My Husband enjoyed his crunchy hotdog… cooked perfectly. Our server was engaging and caring. Food came out in a timely manner. I really do not get the bad reviews. If this restaurant were in my area we would be a regular. I don’t hesitate for a second recommending this place.

Food was good but service sucked. Our waitress had no clue what she was doing. After waiting close to 10 minutes for a togo cup for my shake that I didn’t finish because they came 5 minutes after the food we left. Would come back for the drive-​thru but never to eat inside again.

If you like waiting for your food and your waitress forgetting to place your order then go here!
The food tastes great but not worth the WAIT!

Ok… so went to this location to grab dinner after running some errands. The customer service was terrible. I’ve never been so stressed after placing an order through a drive thru in my life, the lady was very unpleasant and take forever to take our order. There was one car ahead of us and I swear I could have walked home cooked dinner myself, washed the dishes and returned and I would still would have been waiting in line.

Food is ok. Shakes are pretty good. LONG wait time though. If you’re in a hurry don’t go through the drive through.

WORST SERVICE EVER!!! I ended up going here to enjoy my evening with my friends but ended up waiting OVER AN HOUR for my burger to arrive! The waitress gave the impression it was her first day working there because of the fact she did not know what she was doing. We had 9 people total and everyone else ended up getting their food after waiting for receiving wrong orders. When I finally got my food all she said was «sorry» and didn’t even sound sincere about it. I definitely will never come back thanks to the poor service we had.

Jesus holy christ this place is terrible. I’ve been to Steak ‘n Shakes before but they weren’t this bad. What is even more shocking is this place just opened not too long ago so I don’t understand the reasoning for their imperfection.
The food is below sub-​par. It’s either over-​salted or blander than cardboard. When we went, our server was nice but everyone else seems to either hate their job or they’re in a perpetually bad mood. What’s worse? Being ordered to leave a tip! Now, I’m all for tipping waitstaff especially when they do an amazing job. However, if one is sitting at the bar and their waiter ignored you and treated you like crap the whole time? NO TIP FOR YOU! This particular incident happened to my fiancé recently after I had already told him NOT to give this Steak ‘n Shake a chance. He learned the hard way.
I won’t be surprised in the least bit if this place gets cited or shut down by the health department. I’m also not surprised that so many people are dissatisfied with this location. The management needs to get it together.

My burger was good. The fries were just ok but hot. The onion rings were super good. My nutella shake was bangin! It was slow getting our food but from what I’m told its made to order what do you expect. I had a fried egg on my burger. I would have preferred it runny but whatev’s. We were seated right away and our waitress was a doll. I have no beef with this place… Get it? Beef? Burger? I got no… Never mind and I’m sorry.

Great food, great service, with great prices! I moved from Hawai’i so most restaurants and dine in places are really expensive and I was shocked to see my bill was only $ 15.15! Also, from 2 pm-​5 pm all their shakes are half-​off!
Service
At first the hostesses were kind, but definitely did not seat us in order accordingly, BUT then we had an amazing server/​waiter, so that made up for it! The waiter was Christian (not sure if I spelled it right, but he was tall and wore glasses), but he did an amazing job serving us. It was actually the best service I had since I moved here from Hawai’i and i have already been living here for a month and a half. Christian told us the specials, half off of shakes, also offered an item on the menu since they were out of chili cheese fries, even when I just ordered fries he also upselled by offering parmesan and herb fries. Overall, I was really impressed and thankful to have him as a waiter.
Ambience
It is kind of like an 80’s styled restaurant, lit dinning area, lots of parking, and it seems to be very busy a lot of the time (since they just had opened a few weeks before). They have a bar to sit at (but do not serve alcohol), tables and booths as well. Individual bathrooms for women and men, womens bathroom have two stalls and one sink.
Food
American food is mainly what they sell here, so if you are in the mood for hotdogs, hamburgers, fries, and shakes, this is the place to be! Their portions are small, but compensates for their low prices. My parmesan and herb seasoned fries were good and a good size for a small. I order the royal burger, over easy egg with onion rings (.50 cent up charge that Christian told me of), side of small paremsan and herb fries, with a water and a lemon wedge, and my fiancè order the crunchy jalapenõ burger with a side of cheese jalapenõ topped fries and a Reese’s peanut butter cup shake. Both burgers were good for the prices that they were, the portions are pretty small, but I did not mind at all. The food overall was good as I said before for the prices that they were. Their shakes were great, they are large and at half priced that was even a bigger steal!
At the end of our meal Christian apologized for the inconvenience again pertaining to the chilli fries and also told us when they would be available again, he also asked if there was anything else he could get us and if we wanted to ordered another shake while it is still half off. Definitely a place we will try again for breakfast and the next time I will order a shake!

This is a new location so it’s very busy and wait times are going to be long. The staff was very friendly and knowledgable. You do get transported back into time with the food and atmosphere. Our shakes came out first and they were so good! They are worth the 3.00 you pay. The burgers were a lot smaller then if I were to make it myself. I guess that’s just me being greedy. I enjoyed the French fries. I got the seasoned Cajun fries. Everything was great!

Grand opening of this brand-​new Steak ‘n Shake was today! I arrived at a little after Noon and they were packed. The drive thru line was wrapped around the building.
Because I was alone I managed to get seated right away at the counter! Which was good because it was pretty much standing room only!
I checked out the menu and ordered the Guacamole Double Steakburger minus the raw onion and cheese! This comes with their shoestring fries and I got a Dr Pepper to drink! Service was friendly, very quick and they got my burger exactly as ordered.
Managers were around a few times to see how I was doing! And my server checked on me frequently also.
So great first meal here and wonderful service!
For those who love milkshakes, they have them Half Price from 2−5PM every day!
