I really wanted a chili dog for the last few days, so we stopped by here at the last minute and I can honestly say it wasn’t the best decision I have made in a while. Now this place is kind of a half hot dog/Mediterranean grill trailer/building. I really like a hole in the wall places to eat but this took the cake. It wasn’t dirty on the inside but it was dingy, so I was hoping they spent all of their time and money on the food. WRONG, the hot dog was so small in thickness that it actually didn’t even take up half of the room inside the bun. He didn’t skimp on how much chili he put on it but it was the kind of chili you buy in a bucket and not something that had been made anytime soon it seemed. On top of that we ordered cheese with it and it wasn’t melt at all, it just kind of sat on top of the chili like it was an afterthought. I really wanted to like this place but it isn’t going to happen.

New owner has changed the Chicago dog. First of all, he is not using the Vienna wiener. Secondly, the condiments are too much and too juicy, the dog slides all over the place. It is just a mess. The price has gone up a little. The previous owner included the tax in the two-for$ 4 because he was legally blind and it avoided making change. Now it is $ 4 plus tax, which is okay, if the dogs were edible. I ate two-thirds of one dog and about half of the second on my last trip. I stress the word«last.» It was my last. On a positive note, the new owner has made the place tidier and made some other cosmetic touches.

Just don’t people. Just don’t. Me and a work buddy were looking for something new or interesting and after searching for our entire lunch hour we ended up here. From the looks of things on the outside, we had arrived at the 24-hour Meth and Rape Studies Institute. Horrible service, nasty nasty hot dogs and it cost almost $ 5. Highway robbery and probably some Montezumas Revenge for good measure. Stay away.

Gross. How does this place still have 3.5 stars? Every review I see in my feed says ‘Nasty, gross, soggy, dirty, sticky’ just to name a few key words. I went here one time, and will never be back. If you want a good, true Vienna hotdog then go to Margo’s over on the Westside near that safeway on Colorado. This place is terrible.

Honestly, this is the most disgustingly filthy restaurant I have seen in the Springs. And judging from the constant violations on the El Paso County Health Inspector site, this isn’t a new thing. Wish we had checked the site before we visited. Every surface we touched was sticky and grimy. The floors were beyond dirty. Everything had a rundown and shabby feel. We were afraid to use the restroom and went next door to use the bathroom at Walgreens after we ate. As for the food, it is average at best. Fries were lukewarm and flavorless. We tried the Chicago Dog, The Texas Dog, the Kraut Dog, and the corn dog. The toppings were all largely unremarkable, although the jalapeño relish was mildly interesting. Unfortunately the hotdogs were almost entirely toppings, covering a tiny overcooked wiener with no snap or flavor. The buns were soggy and unpalatable. I will say the prices were reasonable enough compared to other hot dog joints. But considering the ambiance and food quality, I feel like I got ripped off. Run away from this place! It has no redeeming virtues whatsoever. How they stay in business is beyond me. You have been warned.

Buns where soggy, French fries tasted like the oil has not been changed in a week, sneezed on his left hand and only rinsed with water and did not even use soap. Every thing i touched was sticky I’m never going there again.

IF you want a Chicago Dog, it doesn’t get any better than this! Green relish, peppers, fresh sliced tomatoes, pickles, celery salt all topped on a Vienna dog on a poppyseed bun. I’ve been to dives before, so I didn’t bother to sit down — I stood up and enjoyed my dog! I was super excited to see that you could purchase a dozen Poppyseed Hot Dog Buns for just $ 5 — I took a pack to go. If you want poppyseed buns, this is the only place in town to buy them.

I haven’t tried many hotdog joints. This one was pretty good. Better then the competition of sonic down the street.

I think«hole-in-the-wall» is a pretty big understatement — it’s more like walking into a single-wide trailer or a shipping container when you go into this place. That, combined with the less than stellar neighborhood might make you apprehensive, but go in and get yourself a hot dog. The menu offers you a number of choices, and the hot dogs definitely do not disappoint — too often you end up getting one of those shitty Ballpark franks when you go out(the kind that have the consistency of a condom full of play-doh) but the dogs here a great; a decent snap and a lot of flavor. Plus, the toppings are pretty great, too. However, that’s about the extent of what’s good. It’s a little dirty in here, the tables are sticky, and it just doesn’t really exude a sense of cleanliness. The burgers and fries are not very good, so if you are torn between making it a combo or getting another hot dog, get another hot dog. Yea, I’ll be back — especially since it’s so inexpensive — but based on the atmosphere, I certainly won’t be holding my wedding reception here.

I tried the chili cheese and rueben dogs. The hot dogs themselves are small; however the the flavor was pretty good. My wife had their hamburger. Although full of veggies, I would guess the patty itself was less than a ¼ lb– she was disappointed. Next time I’m in the mood for a hot dog, I’m headed elsewhere

So despite that fact that most everything I touched in the place felt slightly sticky, I really liked it! I tend to crave Chicago dogs, and a good Chicago dog is hard to come by out West– where everything tends to be slathered in green chili. This place is as good as it gets, and they have plenty more offerings on the menu that I’m looking forward to trying. Poppyseed buns, seriously good Vienna beef, and day-glo green relish. Nice little hole in the wall.

Ambiance: A little whole-in-the-wall kind of place in a seedy section of Nevada(near bars and adult businesses). Stand alone building. Limited parking behind building. Inside, seating is limited to a few counter stools and a few tables. Order and pay at register, then your order is called from a counter near the kitchen. Service: Friendly and prompt. Food: High quality hot dogs served on fresh and soft hot dog buns with poppyseeds. Their original Chicago Dog, is a grown-up version of a hot dog, with mustard, green relish, onions, tomatoes, pickle spear, sport peppers and celery salt.(Tabasco on request.) Very good indeed! Other dog varieties include Kraut, Chili Cheese, Reuben, and Texas. They also serve brats, hamburgers, pastrami and roast beef sandwiches, along with fries. I am not much of a hot dog fan, unless they are prepared this way. On Mondays, the Chicago Dogs are discounted all the way down to $ 2! Great place to go to get a hot dog fix.
