My husband and I ate here around 3 or 4 and had the best waiter I have ever met serve us. The guy has glasses and very long«dreds» pulled back of course. He is young but I dont think he is a teenager. He was polite, genuine, very helpful with suggestions, quick and attentive without hovering. I wish I had his name to give but hopefully a description will do. The food was hot and well flavored. The restaurant was clean and inviting. We will definitely go back again and recommend the place for a decently priced and good meal.

The food was average. Admittedly, this is the traditional American restaurant. The server was great and attentive to dinners. What suggestion could i make? The food needs to stay hot to serve. Luke warm is not the best way to present the meal. As chef, we know this golden rule. Second, corn bread seems that was made yesterday. Corn bread should stay moist and warm. Chef can definitely pull this off. Overall, staff was best.

I don’t know guys, I’ve just always loved this place. Growing up, my mom only cooked traditional Filipino food so I always craved American homestyle cooking(we always want what we can’t have right?) I go here every few months and they’ve never disappointed me. This time it was lunch with a few friends. Chicken tenders were perfect, I love their breading. Pot roast, salmon, mashed potatoes, green beans, everything we ordered was just so… comfort food. I’ll never stop going here. I’ll be one of the senior citizens that comes here 4 times a week.

I was staying at the nearby Hyatt Place and walked over for dinner tonight. The menu is pretty extensive and the food was very good I had the Sunday special oven roasted half chicken and it was very moist and very flavorful. And I got a cinnamon roll for dessert which I brought back to the hotel room with me so that I could enjoy it later tonight. The service was very good.

Haven’t been to one of their restaurants in years and was in the mood for some regular«home» food… and it did not disappoint. We had the mashed potato bowl and Shepards pie(without crust) and both were very good along with salad and delicious rolls. The service was great and on a different note I left my expensive iPhone there and they were honest enough to save it for me

Found the food salty and lukewarm. I think most items were frozen. The waitress was helpful and attentive. I doubt we’ll be going back.

My family loves this place! My family of 6 eats here at least twice a month and the service and food is always great! My husband says the chicken fried steak is the best in town. The kids go crazy for the corn bread muffins! My fave is the black eye peas, of course!

This place had a chance when I came in the door but that was quickly destroyed by the hostess seating people who came in behind us first. I let it go and tried to give it a chance. Ten minutes it took to get a drink order. After the drinks arrived we didn’t see the server for 45 minutes. We also didn’t see our food. At that point my wife went to look for her and found her approaching with the food. The medium steak was well and cold. So tough I had to pour on the A-1 just to choke it down. Veggies were ok and salad was fine. The steak and service ruined me on this first visit to this chain and will not be back again.

The wife seen this place as we were going down the freeway. We were staying in Manitou Springs, so drove back one day for lunch. It was just OK. There are items on the menu that you don’t get at other chains. I’m a fan of black-eyed peas, but I found theirs much too salty. We passed another while on vacation in Colorado & didn’t even think twice about finding another suitable restaurant. Probably won’t ever spend money at a Black-Eyed Pea

Great food and service! There are plenty of choices so there’s something for everyone! I had the slow cooked roast beef and it was delicious

We were driving through CS and spotted the Black-eyed Pea from the Interstate. We’ve eaten at other BEP in other states so we figured this one had to be good. I would have given them 5 stars but, their new menu is entirely too large and has way too many choices. Finally, after taking way too long we decided. I got the Chicken Fried Steak with gravy, mashed pot. and Black-eyed peas. My wife got the Steak Fried Steak with the same sides. Our meals were delicious. Glad we decided to turn back.

We just arrived in Colorado Springs tired and hungry. We never heard of this place but it looked casual and welcoming. This place really is special! The staff is so polite, friendly and attentive. It’s pretty casual dining. But make no mistake … the food is really well prepared. I had the best baked Cajun catfish I’ve had in years. Tender, hot, juicy … perfectly cooked! Go there … bring the family … you won’t regret it.

This place has good American style food. I ordered chicken fried steak and it was good! The rolls and corn bread was fresh and hot. Everyone there was very polite and the service was good. It was about $ 15 per person.

We ate at the Garden of the gods location in Colorado Springs, CO on 7÷6÷2013 @ 4:51PM. The food was cold an d the corn bread had been sitting since the noon meal. The bread was hard and dried out. We asked for fresh bread and Andre said thats all they had. Poor quality of food at this location. We have the choice to eat any where we want, so from now on, we will go to the Cracker Barrel. This Black Eyed Pea location could care less. Warning: Do Not Go Here at Garden of the Gods location. Even their black-eyed peas were hard and undercooked. We will not return and will discourage anyone we can from eating here. Maryellen

I have had three steak dinners this week in COS, and so far this is the best one. The rib eye steak was tender and well-seasoned; it was delicious. The cut is even bigger that the steak that I had at a steak house, and a lot cheaper too. The dinner rolls and corn bread are so delicious as well. The chicken fried steak is quite good, but not as good as I expected. Better than some other places. Overall you can get a very decent and reasonably priced meals here. There are few good dishes and the rest are very decent.

This place is basically an upscale Denny’s or Friday’s clone. I don’t even remember what I had, I just remember it as being nothing extraordinary. It’s a safe place to take your less adventurous friends though.

My rating applies to this location only. All other locations of this restaurant, especially in Texas, offer gracious and friendly service. THIS location, however, took more than 45 minutes to even TRY to deliver a vegatable plate, after we asked twice, and even went to the manager. The server was rude, and offered no apologies. The manager was rude, and treated us like the slow service was our fault. They never apologized. The restaurant was not full. We left with never having received our meals. I have written to their corporate office to complain. Do not go here if you are in a hurry. In addition, the side salad was less appealing than the one that I later got at Carl’s Jr. down the street! At good locations, Black Eyed Pea resaturants usually offer excellent home cooked food, especially the pot roast and meat loaf, which are hard to find these days. Heads up on this one.

Definitely one of my favorite lunch/dinner restaurants in Colorado Springs. Chicken fried steak and CF chicken is always great. I love their baked potatoes. The kids menu is awesome since it has choices that vary from every other kids menu(more than just mac & cheese, chicken nuggets, and burgers). The breadrolls and corn bread are always enjoyable. Very family friendly which is great for us.

We are from Phoenix where are the Black-Eyed Peas closed down, so very exciting to find this on our vacation! We split the chicken-friend steak — yummy! The bread they bring out is hot and fresh(rolls and cornbread, which I love!). Waitress Brittany was very attentive, very pleased with her service today. Happy to tell anyone in the CO Springs area to eat here. And, prices more than reasonable!

Ambiance: Generic, corporate, franchise feel for sure.(You just as well could be at Applebees /TGI Fridays /Ruby Tuesday /Red Robin /Red Lobster, etc, etc, etc.) Decent-sized bar area in middle of restaurant. Either sit at one of the limited bar tables, or at a booth in the main dining area. Service: Adequate. Seemed to take a little longer that usual at places like this during a recent lunch visit, though the place was nearly full, so I guess that is to be a little understandable. Food: Blah! Extensive menu, though I struggled to find anything I wanted to order. Previously, I have sampled their Mom’s best Meatloaf, which is nowhere near as good as my Mom’s! Expect standard plain, Americanized meat and potato options, with little flair in presentation or any seasonings in the preparation(people on restricted diets, that need to eat blander food will be right at home here). The complimentary rolls and corn bread are decent enough. Their sides are pretty basic and plain. On last visit, it was a Friday, and the fried cod was their lunch special. The fish itself was definitely frozen(hey this is Colorado after all), but breaded way too thickly. When I go to the second piece, I was feeling a little uneasy from the greasy breading, and scraped it off the second piece. Overall, it is always disappointing paying decent money for entrees that you can cook much better at home. This place really is just a dressed-up Denny’s. My grandparents would have liked this place(they were simple meat and potato folk, who thought spaghetti was something exotic and ethnic), but for folks who have been around and know decent cooking, you will be disappointed.
