Awesome place! Great turish coffee and middle eastern/mediterranean food. For something different and health with a caffeine kick I can’t recommend a better establishment.

I’m pretty sure I’ve been to just about every coffee place in CoMo, and Coffee Zone is the best place downtown for working or studying with a cup of joe. It’s got everything: friendly staff, good coffee, yummy food, a unique and cozy atmosphere, and plenty of seating. It’s cleaner than Lakota, with better coffee and friendlier people than Kaldi’s, and it never feels like people are sitting right on top of you. Best of all(for those of us who come in with a laptop) is the easy access to outlets.

In all my years of undergrad I never went to Coffee Zone to study because it just seemed sooooo far from campus. I was staying in town on business at The Broadway downtown and saw Coffee Zone was pretty close so I decided to stop in. First off, don’t be fooled by the generic name. This is not the Auto Zone of coffee, it’s a unique Middle Eastern coffee shop with a diverse selection of coffee and amazing Mediterranean food. I got a plain coffee to-go and it wasn’t anything spectacular but it got the job done. The food though… now that’s a different story. For lunch I had their gyro. Normally coffee shop food comes second to the coffee but that’s not the case here. This food was AMAZING. The Gyro was a delicious slab of pita with piles of fresh ingredients on top… including plenty of thickly cut lamb. The staff was very friendly. I recommend walking the extra few blocks downtown to check out Coffee Zone. They have a ton of 2 person tables inside too. Perfect for working or studying alone or with a friend.

I’ve been to Coffee Zone twice now, first in the evening for the food which I thought was pretty good, especially the Mediterranean chicken wrap which was excellent. The hummus was also very good, while the Greek salad and gyro meat were pretty standard. The presentation was quite nice with ground sumac and parsley scattered over the plates. The service was smooth, and the people working were friendly. Overall, a nice experience, and I’d return for the food. Seeing that they made Turkish coffee and sold ground coffee with cardamom, I was excited to return a little before 7 the next morning. I was hoping to pick up several Turkish coffees as well as a few other coffee drinks for my family. Unfortunately, I learned that Turkish coffee isn’t available until 8AM when the kitchen opens. This was on a Saturday, and I don’t know if the kitchen opens late on other days. I was a bit surprised since other coffee shops that serve Turkish coffee haven’t had this issue for me, though I am used to having to wait for it to get prepared. Instead I tried their Rocket Fuel drip coffee, which was unremarkable. I still have high hopes for trying their Turkish coffee, but given my busy morning work schedule, it’s unlikely I’d be able to come by after 8 to try it. Seems like a coffee shop with Mediterranean roots should should be able to serve Turkish coffee during their normal operating hours.

Went to Coffee Zone in the evening, so this review is about the food and atmosphere more than the coffee. If you want delicious Greek food in a casual atmosphere, Coffee Zone delivers. I’m not an expert on Greek food, but the gyro and Mediterranean chicken wrap we ate were some of the best Greek dishes I’ve had in a while. I’m a hummus lover, and theirs was delicious. I would put it on anything. The portion sizes give you a lot for your money. The ingredients were fresh, and the meat was cooked and seasoned perfectly. All around a big thumbs up. The staff were friendly and patient with us first-timers and had good recommendations. The décor is pretty cool and the atmosphere was relaxed, perfect for conversation or studying/working. Coffee Zone is not a large place, but when we went at 7pm there were a few open tables. I can see it filling up quickly in the morning though. I’ll definitely be going back so I will find out! Like I said, we didn’t get to fully experience the coffee side of Coffee Zone. Although the the decaf white mocha my husband ordered was delicious! I got an herbal tea with honey, which is hard to mess up:). I will update my review when I go back for coffee and baklava.

Rocket Fuel paired with anything in this café is the best coffee in the country, hands down. Try it with pistachio baklava(2 varieties) or a Mediterranean Omelette. Dark, rich and smoky sweet. Love love love!

The deluxe Greek salad is my favorite salad in columbia. I think it’s a tad overpriced for the amount of food that you get but it does full you up. The coffees pretty good and the atmosphere is great for a casual meal with friends or a study session.

Food-wise, I like this place better than Casablanca, International Café, and Olive Café. I had a Middle Eastern Plate w/hummus, tzatziki, pita, falafel, salad. — The hummus was good and sprinkled with what looked like sumac(not enough to add much flavor, but pretty). — Tzatziki was thick and creamy – I had to re-read the menu to confirm it was indeed tzatziki since it was much different(/better) than the thinner version I’ve more often seen. — Even the pita(I thought) was better than at the other aforementioned places(and came out warm). — The falafel was flavorful and not extra-fried like I’ve had at Casablanca(though, to be honest, I kinda like the over-fried ones there). — All salad veggies(lettuce, red onion, tomato) seemed fresh; also had a few(non-black) olives, feta, and one(traditional???) pepperoncini. Tasted a lamb gyro that was also good. Had a mug of Rocket Fuel(house coffee), too. I liked it a lot, although admittedly probably couldn’t distinguish it from a Starbucks Verona. I’ll save the fifth star for when they get organic coffee beans and other sustainably farmed ingredients =)

Now aside from their pretty extensive coffee menu, if you decide to go to coffee zone, do not leave without trying the Gyro. Hands down best Gyro in Columbia.

Literally the only coffee house I will go to. The employees remember my name and drink(s)! Everyone is always friendly. I’ve even made some new friends after seeing them at «The Zone» day after day! I just can’t get enough of this place.

After fighting through an absurd amount of milk and froth, i was finally able to taste the small amount of burnt espresso underneath. The food is darn good, and their other methods of coffee prep may be better, but I wouldn’t recommend the espresso drinks.

As an avid coffee drinker, I’ve been searching for my new go-to coffee shop ever since arriving in Columbia. Good news, I’ve finally found it. The Coffee Zone takes the cake for best overall experience. I love the atmosphere here almost as much as the coffee. This charming little shop is always bustling with people and activity. The staff is helpful and friendly, and the clientele seem to thoroughly enjoy their time in the shop. On top of a superb atmosphere, their coffee is very good as well. If you stop in, you must try their daily blends. With no added sugar or milk, these blends show that a cup of black coffee can be every bit as delicious and flavorful as some sugar-filled frappuccino. As if all of this wasn’t enough, they also serve some wonderful Mediterranean dishes. I found this restaurant/coffeeshop mix to be a bit odd at first, but the food is actually excellent. Most people come for the coffee, but if you’re hungry be sure to try out a nice plate of hummus or a gyro dinner. Overall, I was very pleased with the Coffee Zone and have now been back several times. While the selection of coffee shops is certainly smaller here than back in KC, I am pleased to report that this coffeeshop will keep me very satisfied while attending the University of Missouri here in Columbia.

Love it! It is a wonderful cultural experience. I ordered the arabic breakfast plate and it was my first time trying Labani. The plate was flavourable and inexpensive. I definitely like their falafel, olives and pickled onions. Their pita bread was warm and soft. It was quiet on a Sunday morning. Their coffee was nice and I noticed they have specialty coffee as well.

Probably the second best gyro I have ever had(and they are one of my favorite foods, so that means a lot). The hummus is also delicious. Both of these give you a lot of food for your money. I am not a fan of coffee shops, so I can’t really comment on the coffee, but my daughter pretty much lives to come here for overpriced coffee drinks. The iced tea was OK but overpriced and no refills. I wanted to try dessert, but I was stuffed before I finished the gyro and hummus. Nice place to people watch out the window. Free wifi. Clean restrooms. Very friendly and appreciative owner. I should probably give five stars, but I will go back a time or two before I do that :)
