Smokehouse Bar-B-Que

I had dinner the evening of Jan 7^th at around 7pm. I figured that was early enough that the food shouldn’t be to old. Boy was I wrong. I ordered brisket and baby back ribs. The brisket was old, tough and lacking in any flavor. The ribs actually tasted rotten or spoiled. It was clear to me at that point why the place was almost empty. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place and save the upset stomach.

Only come here during Happy Hour, 4−7pm everyday. $ 1 domestic beers, $ 2 sliders, $ 1 off apps. The food is decent and service is fast! The location is great (for us)! There is a bar with several TVs, which we are always on the hunt for. With these happy hour prices and the decent quality food and service, we will be back again soon! Next time, we will bring friends, stay for hours, and leave with full bellies and low tabs!

I was born and raised in the Kansas City area, and my family and I regularly went to the Smokehouse BBQ in Independence. When I found out they had opened one in Columbia, I was very excited, but it was a huge letdown. The were EMPTY at 6p. m, which should have been our first sign that business wasn’t going well for them. Our server was rude and inattentive, despite having no other customers. When we got our beef brisket, it was the most dried out BBQ I have ever eaten in my life, I think they had reheated leftovers from earlier in the week. Anyone who likes the food here has never had good BBQ. At the end of our terrible experience, we asked to speak with a manager, and it was clear the problem with our waiter and food was caused by poor management of this restaurant. This was by far the rudest manager we have ever spoken to in our lives, and we go out to eat almost every day.
We were potential regulars here, but we will not go back. I hope they saved money by serving us old meat!

Tried for first time and was really disappointed. The pork spare ribs were like dry leather and really smokey. In fact the only taste was the smoke. Pulled pork OK and sides good but not going back.

A nice surprise on our travels! BBQ ribs were smoky, tender, and delicious. Beans and coleslaw also great. Great service and friendly staff, too. Would definitely dine here again.

Very delicious meal with great service! I had the Caesar salad with grilled shrimp — perfect! Husband had ribs — taking some home. Thanks!

Smells good inside chicken was good but there bbq sauce is gross left a bad taste very pricey we wont be going back there not the best bbq thats for sure not very happy with the service

The smell is heavenly here. The service was very friendly and nice. They have the games up on the big screens in the bar and have a section away from the tvs for a more formal dining. Had the Ring of Fire burger and the beef and pork burnt ends. Both were very good. Nice to have some good bbq away from KC! :)
