Walk ins welcome! After a day of being out and about throughout town, I got a wild bug to do something on my way(almost) home. So I stopped by my local Red Cross, which I’m not proud to say I haven’t done in far too long of a time. They have varying hours, but thankfully on this day they were still open, and welcoming walk ins to boot(they also take appointments if that’s more your speed). You need either a drivers license or your donor card; my donor card is located at my house, as apparently I would prefer to have multiple gelato savings cards than one having my blood type on it. Priorities are a twisty road. You then have to read through their material(regardless if you’ve done this before; the law is just that). After this, you wait to be called back and have your blood tested, as well as your BP and answer a slew of questions. Ooh, my blood tested out at 15.2 hemoglobins, which apparently means my «iron is strong.» So, single file ladies! After this, the bloodening… No, but seriously, everyone there was awesome, very nice and helpful. They were professional and also smiling, a grand combo in mine book. The lady who«took» my blood was very fun, and sat with me through the whole«ordeal,» which took a little more than 5 minutes tops. They were pros, too, as I’ve said; I don’t have the easiest veins to get, and there was no grindy digging(sorry if that’s overly ew, but I’ve had nurses at doctors make me want to stab their parents). Quick hit and go. Guys, I know it seems like one of those«but I just don’t have the TIME» kinda things, but it really doesn’t take much, and the help is immeasurable. Health is wealth; stop on by, and believe me you’ll feel better for it.

Everyone who is able should donate blood. This is an easy location to get to, and both the inside and the outside look clean and well kept. The staff is friendly, and they make you as comfortable as you can be considering you’ve got a needle in your arm. Afterwards they’ll give you food and some juice, and make sure you’re okay before they send you off. It’s the easiest way you’ll ever save a life!

I went to donate platelets and I must say that this facility is very well run. They have a very nice staff. I especially want to thank Tashana for being so nice and attentive to me throughout the process. She could tell that I was nervous, and she explained every detail to me. They provide tv and videos if you want to watch them, and have plenty of food to eat too. Nice touch.
