This is my first(known) venture with Salvadorian food. Before you start reading this, please make a metal note to go to El Ranchero now. Now. NOW! Started with a pork/cheese/veggie pupusas; pork taco on the left. A small metal cup of their own(homemade) coleslaw came with the cakes. It was something of a vinegar base. Cleansed the palette. I liked the cabbage without the usual white cream sauce. Interesting, and tasty, divergent from the American norm. A small cup of tomato dipping sauce(not too spicy at all) also comes with the cake — wonderful melding of flavors when dipping! El Ranchero makes all their tortillas. To order. Great corn taste. Complemented the marinated pork right on. The pastor comes with pineapple and colored peppers chunks. Fresh pineapple, none of that canned crap. Awesome flavor profile! Washed down the meal with one of ER’s own drinks. Never asked if the drink has a name, but it’s a mix of «pineapple, apple and cashew» juices to quench the thirst. It was light and refreshing. Slightly sweet, but not overly. Perfection, pretty much! One of their daily specials was a dessert Empanada: Vanilla pudding and plantains stuffed inside with a light dusting of sugar on the top. Perfect amount of dough; it did not outshine the pudding concoction or plantains. These were the star of that dish. Pan fried to the point of ecstasy! Not too much, just a small taste of decadence to top the night! Orby? What a unique lady! Stupendous customer service! She explained every question I had(I can’t speak a lick of any foreign language), and gave exquisite personal recommendations. She also hands-on cooks right out front. The hand made/hand prepared tacos; helping with the pupusas. If every business had an Orby, society would be much better off. This meal completely filled me up. $ 9.75 for two pork-and-veggie pupusas, one pastor taco, one dessert Empanada, and the fruit drink. I’m sad it took me this long to find out about this gem. I’m so in love with this first-time encounter, I can’t wait to get back here!

We were happy to find a place that serves pupusas in Columbus. They weren’t my favorite but fulfilled the craving. The queso and loroco was the best one.

I love the friendly staff, the food is out of this world. It felt so good to find this peace of heaven here in columbus. I’ve been adicted to this little spot since i first tried it. I can eat from there everyday if i had the funds for it. The yuca con chicharron was amazing but din’t have enought chicharron for me. The pupusas are handmade infront of you and are ohh so delicious. I plan to try everything on their menu.

This is a hidden gem if there ever was one. It’s inside Saratoga Grocery store – who knew?!? I know it’s a bad idea to go to the grocery store hungry, but you should do it when you go to Saratoga – every time. I was absolutely amazed. This place serves up fresh, authentic, homemade tasting food cooked to order. Salvadorian cuisine’s most notable dish and the most memorable from my meal is the ***pupusa***. It’s a thick pita like(but chewy-er) tortilla stuffed with your favorite combination of meat, cheese, beans, and veggies. El Rachero Kitchen’s pupusas are, «oh my» great. You really shouldn’t visit this little spot without trying one(or two). Their other dishes were delectable as well, but the pupusa stood out as the, «Let’s come back for this» dish. Service was great, our waitress was very attentive. I’d recommend this little spot to anyone looking to explore a Central American inspired meal.
