Came in with a group of friends on a Friday night at about 10, all of us entirely sober. The place was empty, but don’t worry– the guy carding still felt he was guarding Fort Knox. We are all over the age of 25, but my petite female friend came in giggling and didn’t notice the guy sitting in a chair to card so we called her back over and he just sat there scowling really intensely. I chuckled and told him«don’t worry she is 21 she Isint trying to avoid you», he barks at me that he still needs her ID, and in a really terrible clearly thinks I’m an idiot tone. So step 1) don’t have fun in the bar. Step 2) minimize all interaction with the bouncer, he is just as sub-human as he looks. Step 3) don’t be from out of state. I’m from New York and either he was pissed at me for daring to make small talk or really just couldn’t read my ID. I asked if he needed me to point to the DOB on it– finally he handed it over and just let me in. The bar tenders were really nice and helped make up for the bouncer being a jerk. My last and final point: step 4) bring a jacket, bring your friends jacket, bring some blankets and hot cocoa. It’s effing cold in there.

The location is spacious, parking wasn’t bad at all, and the food was awesome. The bartender was nice and the drinks were great. Happy hour prices are excellent. However our server Friday wasn’t very friendly at all and didn’t seem to want to be there. Also, the speakers were blasting talk radio that didn’t match the sports talking on TV – very distractive trying to have a dinner date over high volume commentators yelling.

Had a Groupon for dinner so went to check it out. Had a good beer selection. I went for the Scrimshaw. For dinner we had the chicken club and the portobello. Both pretty good. The pizza probably looked better. The place needs a little work but pretty close to campus so probably expected. We liked the staff. Very friendly.

This place tends to be dark and dingy. The food isn’t too bad, but the atmosphere is not desirable for me. The patio is nice, and if you’re going to visit this place I would recommend sitting outside.

We love that this bar is kinda hidden on King ave. It’s in walking distance from the house and all around a great neighborhood bar. The food could use a little help. But for sitting out on the patio during the summer and having some beers, no bar compares.

This dog friendly bar is a great place to come when you’re wayyyy too drunk at the end of the night and spend dollhairs on dranks and dance! If you’re more into the dinner and drinks. Don’t forget it is a bar but their wings are GREAT and as an appetizer I would suggest the fried pickles or potato skins. They do it right here.((Go Jamaican jerk sauce!!))

Hampton’s is considered a campus bar, but I wouldn’t say that’s entirely accurate. While it does sit in the University District, it usually has much older clientele. Don’t get me wrong; there’s definitely students there, and you’ll see some type of social gathering in their basement from time to time, but for the most part, it’s people that live in the direct area. The bartenders and staff are pretty friendly, usually. Unfortunately, one of the more sociable and friendly bartenders just left recently, and I haven’t been over there to see the new people. Hampton’s really shines in the warmer months with a huge patio overlooking King Avenue that’s a great place to people watch and soak in some sun. They also have TVs that show outside, so you can watch any sports events on the patio as well. This place has quite a few TVs to watch games. The inside is a bit dark and not the most welcoming area. I’m actually a fan of some of the food there. The burgers are very good, and they have some great chicken wings with some pretty tasty flavors. If you’re looking to grab drinks or food somewhere close to campus before going to a football game or any other events around the area, this is a pretty great place to do it. You won’t run into as obnoxious a crowd as you might further up on campus. P. S. They have trivia nights on Sundays, and they used to have karaōke, but I’m not sure which night! They have different drink specials every night of the week.

Hamptons is a sports bar near a large college campus. What more could you want? The problem is that it is located on King Ave which usually isn’t the most«popping» place to hang when you want to watch the game and go out. BUT I lived nearby so I found myself going there a few times to casually watch a game or just catch up with friends that lived nearby. It’s got some good drink specials and the food is somewhere around average. I personally liked the pretzels and cheese dipping sauce. The best part about Hamptons is the patio, I’m from the south so there is nothing I enjoy more than sitting outside on a warm day surrounded by friends and booze.

Great place. Close to OSU but not an obnoxious college bar. Pool tables in the basement, a lot of seating as a whole. The food is decent, the drink prices aren’t bad either(3 $ long islands on Wednesdays!). I love the patio during the summer too.

Hanptons is the bomb. Living within walking distance was the first reason I started going, but the unique decór, awesome bartenders and good food are the reasons i keep going back. The place is very strange when you first walk in, but I like it that way. Ive also had quite a few things to eat there, from the burgers to the wings to the chicken fingers to the margarita pizza! the food isnt gonna blow you out of the water, but for a bar it is definitey legit. I have yet to be dissapointed. One complaint I would have is that it is not open on Sundays until 4. It use to open early enough for the 1 P. M NFL games on Sundays but it isnt for some reason anymore. Im not a fan of this change. Dont forget about karaōke Wednesdays! And bring your dogs!

Stopped in for a drink on Friday, Oct 3rd. Overall, the atmosphere was very good, bartender was friendly and the music was good. But the big drawback was the height of the bar. It was extremely tall and made you feel like a kid sitting at the adult table. We had to reach up just to rest our arms and it was uncomfortable. And if the chairs had been taller to accommodate, you’d have to climb up them to sit. We won’t return for that reason.

Large patio and a good time! The bartender remembered my name even though I’ve haven’t been there since the previous summer. Decent prices on pitchers, dog friendly, and an easy going atmosphere.

This has always been a really nice bar with a quality staff — even when it was called B Hampton’s over on 3rd. They have quality happy hour specials that include food and drinks. The clientele here is usually a little more mature than your typical on campus bar. They create a good atmosphere and a more relaxing environment than their nearby counterparts. Its still nothing really that special, but still a nice place to hang out with a group of friends.

What I Love: the patio. It’s spacious, with seating a-plenty. The strung lights may seem chintzy to some, but I find them charming. Additionally, there are always puppies running around — I love that this place is dog-friendly. One of my favorite places to enjoy the summer with a cold adult bev. What I Don’t Love: the food is just so… meh! I’ve tried a few things here, all pretty underwhelming — portobello fries, sweet potato fries, taco salad, the«famous» buffalo chicken dip, which was cold and flavorless. The drink selection is pretty standard and, since this place is in the heart of campus, prices are super reasonable. Parking can be a bit tricky, so pay attention to the signs/restrictions to avoid getting a ticket.

The patio! My word, the patio. Springtime beckons the young twenty somethings of Columbus in search of a chill bar with outdoor seating. I played trivia tonight with Steve as the host – same guy as grandview trivia– and, I mean this from the bottom of my heart, not much beats this scenario on a warm summer evening. The drinks are always affordable, but don’t be searching for anything fancy or colloquial. Stick with the basics. Simple well drinks; American domestics. There are always specials to quell your angsty wallet. Sunday is $ 524-oz corona bottles. Okay! Perf. The interior is very dark. Not in a divey sense, but more in a where-are-you sense. Come on guys, electric can’t be that expensive. In the end, Hamptons is, to me, a college bar without the nonsense. No drunk fools, no frills, cheap drinks, indulgent bar food. And a phenomenal patio. Go Bucks.

Great, friendly bartenders with excellent service. Even when it gets busy, you can still manage to not wait at the bar for more than a few minutes. Quality of drinks is great for the price too. They don’t water down their drinks here. Best nights: $ 3 Long Islands on Wednesdays and $ 2 wells on Thursdays. My favorite bar in the OSU campus area. Bar menu has the typical fries and onion rings — as a vegetarian I would appreciate a little more variety. Really good patio too that I would love to enjoy more often, except the abundance of cigarette smokers ruins it for me. The interior has a lot of strange décor complete with little red lights strung up, but I like it. An oddly intimate neighborhood feel — coupled with the bartenders — is what has kept me coming back for a few years.

«Friends don’t let friends go to Hampton’s.» Or so my friends have told me. But as you can see by my 4-star review, I’m an enabler. Some may say that I must not care much about my friends’ well-being if I bring them here. Well. They may be onto something. One time I was here a fight broke out and the bouncer tackled the aggressor onto one of the ladies in my group. Another time one of my friends tackled the other by the patio and gave him a concussion. But Hampton’s keeps drawing us back with its amazing patio, cheap drinks, and atmosphere. It’s very lively and always has something going on(injuries included…). So how much do I recommend Hampton’s? Here’s a point system to help you decide: 1. Is it nice outside?(+20 points for the patio /–10 for the inside) 2. Do you want cheap drinks?(+20 points, especially during happy hour) 3. Are you injury-prone?(–10 points) 4. How prone to getting tackled are your friends?(+10 points) Did you get a perfect 60 points? Well what are you waiting for?!

Here in Columbus, the première spots for those of us in our 20’s are the South Campus Gateway and Park St. Somewhere in between those two amusement parks that can feature one-too-many Bud Light drinking douchebags, lies the Hamptons on King. You’ll still get the lively campus crowd on the weekends, but it’s a more laid back version accompanied by a chill atmosphere. Whether you want to play chess or flirt & meet a few new friends, Hamptons has a good mix of people that make it a fun experience. Hamptons is decorated nicely and dimly lit inside to give its patrons a relaxed feeling. They have a jukebox, which can be a good thing if you and your friends want to dance. However, the jukebox can have its downsides when you hear«Call Me Maybe» or Ke$ha for the third time within the hour. If you’d like to escape the overplayed songs(like most reasonable people), the basement downstairs has a few pool tables w/couches. When they get very busy, the Hamptons opens up a side bar in the basement, especially if a DJ is spinning behind the decks that evening and attracts a large audience. The basement has the feeling of a Chicago lounge that would be ideal for a house or electronic dance music DJ to spin. I definitely see great potential here if this place had afterhours as well. I’ve seen a few DJ’s spin, yet remain to see a large crowd(primarily because I come on Thursday Happy Hrs. & Sunday afternoons). During the warmer months of the year, the patio is a great place for Happy Hour after work or classes. Food and drink specials here are reasonable, even for those of us that have spare change after paying the bills. The bartenders are pretty friendly and work fast, yet not overwhelming to the point of a babysitter. As a fan of craft brews, the tap beer selection is decent and features more than just Newcastle, Stella Artois & Sam Adams. Dogfish 60 Minute IPA? Sounds great. The food here is nothing to rave about, but they have a veggie burger w/fries that washes down nicely with a pint of my favorite brew on tap. More importantly, the food was served in a reasonable time and allowed me to enjoy a relaxing Sunday afternoon on the patio with a friend. I’ve been here a few times on the weekend, but those days seem more for the regulars that live in the area. Nevertheless, Hamptons is a place I would recommend where you can get your money’s worth & meet new people without unrealistic expectations.
