This was The absolute worst Hometown buffet I have ever been to and my wife agrees with that as well. The overall quality tasted like it was from a high school lunch cafeteria at best. The food was very lukewarm and we left feeling poorly and out $ 30.

Was bored and hungry, decided to explore, never been here before, day after Thanksgiving, price was not bad, less than $ 16 including drink, people were busy but pleasant, food was properly prepared, warm food was warm, cold food was cold, place was clean and relatively quiet for a buffet. If I had a hungry family I would have no problems taking them here. If you like American style buffets, try them.

4 stars because it is a buffet, but better then Golden Corral(at least Ft Wayne where we are from). Took the Family on Sat 6÷20÷15 after a sad rainy short visit to the Columbus Zoo. The meal brightened our day as the food, desert, and drinks were all very good(for a buffet rest). Will stop back next year. Oh, and the place smelled good and appeared clean… not sticky and cheap like other buffets Ive been in. All-in-all looks like we hit on just the right time. A little expensive for the food… but it was ok. No major complaints from our visit that day.

We haven’t been here in a few years, I was thinking the place has changed, well. No. It turned for the worst, actually. The food isn’t hot, very poor choices, the buffet Is a disaster food is in food and scattered. Nasty. Waitress is snobby. And I don’t think they’ve swept in years. I wouldn’t recommend coming here and now I am hoping I don’t get sick.

I remember, as a kid, a trip to Hometown Buffet was a magical and exciting experience as my folks didn’t eat out too much. Recent visits have been very lacking, both with taste and presentation. I understand it is a buffet but many of the items served are cold or are in need of salt and some originality. Mac and cheese tasted like some cheap Walmart brand noodles and powdered sauce. Potatoes have been grainy. Fish is limp and rubbery. The salad bar is still nice, and the ice cream leaves me feeling nostalgic. Still would rather spend my money elsewhere.

Came here while I was on the westside for my semi-annual trip to Harbor Freight Tools. The restaurant was clean, the service was nice, and the food was good. I was surprised because this area has really gone downhill, but this restaurant remains good.

Well it looks like my one review of this place will bump up the average star rating all by itself. I had a coupon for Home Town Buffet, $ 5.99 for lunch, so I went to get some buffet grub. The people working here are nice enough and the place looks clean and organized. As far as the food? First of all, it’s a buffet folks, a West side Columbus buffet at that. So I’m not expecting high end anything. I’m expecting quantity here and I’ve got a coupon. The Bourbon Chicken was actually surprisingly good, the stand out of anything they have. The Baked Chicken was decent and the mac and cheese was fine. Green beans and corn were the basic veggies, not anything great. They were out of a can and weren’t seasoned much if at all. Other than that? Not much to write home about. It’s a decent but not great buffet. I got my money’s worth and left full. Mission accomplished.

I went here a couple of days ago with a good friend and my wife. We all loved our local hometown buffet growing up years ago but has been shut down many years ago. We like the atmosphere of this one over the others mainly because its the same décor as our old one. They even have the same pictures on the walls. My wife loves the rolls an the Oreo fluff the best. I love too much to name. Good experience overall. service though wasn’t the best but its a buffet so don’t expect that.

I don’t wholly agree with Sarah F.‘s review. Nothing I had here tasted like plastic. I usually find plastic to have no taste, and the«food» here definitely had a taste. A bad, or worse yet, an unidentifiable taste. Perhaps the preparation of the food surrogate here was outsourced to some small Equatorial Pacific island nation more accustomed to cooking in open sand pits, shipped here by Briggs & Stratton-powered san-pan, and semi-warmed by Sterno cans under the buffet trays for our culinary bliss. Or something similar. My experience here drove me, in desperation, to Mark Pi’s Feast of the Dragon a couple hundred yards across the parking lot the next time I wanted to experience an act of gluttony. I was pleasantly surprised by Mark Pi’s, so my experience at HomeTown Buffet wasn’t a total waste. By the way, this HomeTown Buffet is actually not as bad as the one on the far East Side, off of Brice Road, if that’s remotely believable. That place was so bad that even old people don’t go there, coupons and senior discounts/specials not withstanding. My one-star rating is not a case of piling-on. There’s no piling-on of anything associated with this place in any way whatsoever.

Came here for dinner one evening because I had recieved a free coupon for two kids dinners with one adult purchase, so yeah I took it. I won’t be doing that again, the stuffing was dry, taco shells and ingredients were cold. The salad bar was just that and the ham was decent. The one good thing was they had one of those icee machines so the kids enjoyed that, however I don’t believe we will be returning.

In general, I expect buffets to be kind of crappy. I know that I paying for quantity, not quality. However, I do expect it to be at least edible, and you would think that simple sides would be tasty if anything. This place made the golden corral look like brio. The selection was awful and the only thing I could get down was baked chicken and fries. The potato salad made me gag, the taco shells were completely stale, and the apple crisp tasted like plastic. Even the mac and cheese, which my fiancée tried, was completely awful. This, by the way, was an early Saturday dinner!!! You would think this is when it would be it’s best! It makes me sad I will no longer have a buffet near my house I can visit like when I like up near sawmill. I think I would rather stay home and cook then ever come here again!
