This place has potential. I was hoping for that standout burger like 5 guys or Max and Erma’s. What I got was a solidly good burger. The meat tasted good and looked very fresh going onto the grill. The fries were hand cut and tasty… prepared fresh. They were a touch too salty for my taste. I liked the bun although it was a lot of bread for a single patty. The bun was plain but seemed like it probably came from a local bakery who uses good ingredients. Next time I might forgo the top bun or get a double and save half to reheat. With a veggie burger and a turkey burger yet to try, I expect to be back. This isn’t yet that place I would patronize every month, but I feel like it has potential. They were out of veggie burgers and mushrooms, but I arrived around 2, well after the lunch rush. They were out of paper towels in the Men’s room.

There are a handful of things to like about Lola’s burger shack, but unfortunately, the eponymous burgers are not one of them. First, the good things. Whenever I’ve visited they’ve been unfailingly nice and courteous. Which makes me wish that I liked visiting more than I do.(And had better things to say about their signature entrée.) Also, the fries are rather good. Even when cold(ish), they retain a good flavor and texture. When hot they’re even better. Finally, I give them credit for using a quality bun. The bread holds up well and has a nice firm chew to it. If only the burgers that went on the buns were better. The texture whenever I’ve had them has been off, seeming to be tough and a little gristly. They’ve also been dry, which further detracts from the overall texture. And they’re also a fairly bland, missing something in the seasoning department. I want to like them; I love burgers and would be happy to have a quick grab and go location downtown. But until they improve the beef itself, this will not be the burger I am looking for.

Lola’s Burger Shack is the place for a big lunch. I stopped in to check it out for lunch, tentatively, since I can’t eat beef. Luckily, they have black bean burgers. Their beef patties are freshly hand-shaped and cooked to order, which takes more time. Most of the folks in line with me waited about ten minutes for their orders. They have hand-cut fries as well as desserts. You’re not going to be here and keep calories down. I ordered a black bean veggie burger with jalapenos and garden toppings. The burger was standard, but the hefty bun and the toppings were good. I’d go back if another person wanted to try this place out.

As burger joints go, its a good burger. Normally when I go someplace for the first time, I get the basic burger to see if the place get it right. This time I chose to do a little something different(for me). This place has a Roman Burger on the menu. If you’re fan of Mr. Hero’s then you know what I’m referring to. In the case of Lola’s Burger Shack, try another burger. The burger was ok. It’s not a Mr. Hero’s Roman Burger — not that it’s supposed to be. When I am back in downtown Columbus, I’ll give Lola’s another shot for sure.

I doubt I’ll be back here any time soon but their burgers were not bad. It gets packed for lunch during the week. You walk in, order your food, sit down and they’ll call your name. We had to wait in line to order and then it took about 10 minutes to hear our names. I ordered a classic cheeseburger with LTO. It came back with ketchup and lettuce. Now, I LOVE onion so I was peeved but I wasn’t about to go back in and ask for it since it was so packed. I was annoyed but wasn’t going to fly off the handle about it either. The prices are pretty good for the food. Around $ 5 for burger only. You can do a combo with fries and a drink for an extra couple bucks. We sat on the patio on High Street to eat so that was pretty cool. A fine lunch just nothing to shake a stick at. They just opened so maybe there are some growing pains here. There are just other places I’d rather go for lunch near Gay Street.

Quite good. Burger was perfectly done and the fresh cut fries were fresh and hot. And they were not the skinny fries but thick enough I could get my hands on them. A regular ¼ lb. plain hamburger and large fries was $ 7.45, reasonable for the good quality and where else do you get a hamburger & fries downtown? The small fries would have been plenty… the large was ALMOST too much. There are hot dogs on the menu too, and various specialty hamburgers with included toppings that sounded good. I will go here again.

This place is already hoppin’! Came here for lunch today during the Pearl Alley Market. You order and then wait for them to call your name, so it’s more of a quick service style of restaurant. The prices here are good for the quantity of food that you get, and a regular cheeseburger is about $ 4.95. For a combo with a drink and small fries(a generous serving) it was about $ 7.50, which is pretty great for a lunch downtown! The wait was a bit longer than anticipated, about 15 – 20 minutes, and while my burger came out fine, others in my party didn’t have all of their toppings. The basic toppings are free, so no one was out any money, but it was just a mild annoyance. No one asks if you want your burger prepared any certain way, so it seems to be well done for everyone. My burger was okay. Nothing to write home about, but satisfying for a good price. I did like the fries, which seemed to be hand-cut and perfectly salted. Overall, a decent spot for a cheap lunch, but nothing new or amazing.

The champagne here tastes just like cherry cola. Lola’s Burger Shack pretty much is what its temporary signs tell you it is — a burger joint. They serve up hand formed grilled paddies. All in all, the burger is pretty decent and the four stars here is really for providing another affordable, downtown lunch place with decent food. This is, by no means, a burger trip worthy destination, but it’s great for a quick lunch if you’re downtown and in the mood for a burger. The fries are also pretty good(hand cut style). My one beef: they’re pretty skimpy on the toppings. My one leaf of lettuce, the smattering of ketchup and mustard along with the sliver of onion left me with lots of bun and not much topping flavor added to the burger. It’s a mixed up, muddled up, shook up downtown lunch scene, except for Lola’s.

Stumbled on this while walking around Pearl Market; they had a signboard, and we were wandering anyway. So, didn’t find it on Unilocal or check reviews, just walked in. And it’s a nice little burger place. Well, not real little– plenty of tables inside and out. We came as the lunch rush was ending, and there was a short wait to order and another for our food, but not too bad. Everything was made to order. I had the chipotle burger with fries, and Sweetie got cheese fries. They gave us chili cheese fries by mistake but swiftly and gracefully corrected that. The chipotle burger has chipotle mayo and onion straws, and was a solid burger. Not amazing, but decent meat, good bun, good toppings. Not huge, but prices were low and Lola’s has no «gourmet» pretensions. Better than fast food, and almost as quick. The fries were perfectly-made fair-style fries: big, crispy but soft inside, and salted. With malt vinegar and ketchup on the table, I was happy. Sweetie liked her cheese fries too. It was a nice quick lunch, and I’d go back. If I worked downtown I’d be happy to have it nearby.
