Simply Elegant Nails

I love getting my nails done here. I am rough on my hands with my line of work. Monique works magic on my hands and has offered other options that work well for me to keep my hands looking nice. I found Monique to be pleasant and professional. I look forward to getting my nails done her again and again.

There is nothing elegant about this place! My friend and I got a mani/​pedi deal through living social. My friend called daily to try to make sure our appointments were at the same time. She never answered or called back. She was rude and unprofessional when we got there. This was a small, hot room and it’s just her. We wouldn’t be able to both be able to have appointments. We got three early and she said she had to leave. No way would she have been back by the time of my friend’s appt and no way was I going back there!

This was an ok mani/​pedi. Did both within an hour. Not a place for pampering but a decent service. My first apt canceled do to mix up with on line scheduling. She offered a shellac upgrade and I rescheduled the next day. She was 10 min behind schedule. This was a small one person space. Nicely decorated.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I bought a pedicure through Amazon Local deals, and got on the website to make an appointment. I show up to find the «salon» is about half the size of my guest bedroom. I said my name and that I had an appointment. She said:
«Well we’re going to have to rush through this, b/​c I’ve got stuff to do today, and I don’t have a lot of time»
Just from that, I almost walked out… However, I was leaving for vacation the next day, and planned the pedicure for that day… And obviously had already paid for it. She put lukewarm water in the tub, and didn’t let my feet soak at all. She pulled her tools out of a Rubbermaid type of container, and after using them on me, put them right back in. I was pretty disgusted, b/​c she obviously doesn’t wash anything.
Then when she asked the color, I told her I wanted to do French, and she said «well that’s more money». I told her that was fine. Then, she asked me what color I wanted to use for French. I told her I had only had a few pedicures before, so whatever color is normally used. The polish she used was so old/​dried up, she could barely get the lid off.
Before my nails were even done drying, another woman came in for her appointment, and she just told me she needed me to pay. She charged me $ 15 (ON TOP OF MY AMAZON DEAL!!!). She said this was for «tax» and the extra money for the French. I just wanted out of their so bad, I didn’t argue.
I contacted amazon afterwards and told them my experience, and they actually refunded my money for the deal… However, I would never recommend this place to my worst enemy. My nails looked mediocre at best, and my skin was dry as ever. It was a waste :(

I have never been so upset where I had to leave a review on here, but I guess there is a first for everything.
Monique called me yesterday to confirm my amazon local voucher number and my appointment. I was told that without the voucher number she would not hold my appointment since I was her last one for the day. I sent it to her and even offered that if she finished her other clients early, I would be happy to come in earlier so she didn’t have to wait around for me since I was her last client of the day.
When I showed up to my appointment today I walked into her salon, which is just a small room. She told me to wait in the waiting room. I had to ask where it was and was told to wait by the elevators. After waiting about 10 minutes, she walked out to me and told me she would have to reschedule my appointment. When I asked why, she said because the state department showed up and she has to finish the client she had at the time. Since I already had plans the rest of the day and am leaving to go out of town first thing in the morning, that wasn’t possible.
This was so unprofessional of her. As she is telling me she had to reschedule, she is holding her cell phone in her hand. You would think she would have actually used her phone so I could have made other arrangements and not wasted my gas and time. And I know she had my number since she used it yesterday to confirm my appointment. She was very rude and unapologetic.
I immediately called amazon to explain the situation to them and was refunded my full amount of money so I don’t have to go back there. Too bad her unprofessionalism wasted my afternoon and now my toes aren’t done for vacation. Extremely inconsiderate as a business owner.
I get pedicures at least once a month and have never seen such unprofessionalism, especially from the owner of a salon to a first time client.
I had to mark 1 star because it wouldn’t let me put 0 STARS!!! IF I COULD GIVE THIS A NEGATIVE STAR RATING I WOULD. Hopefully the state can nail her for something on their «surprise» visit they had today!

I didn’t hit it off with this one. She didn’t seem to care what temperature the water was and didn’t allow for any time for the foot soak to work, then as soon as she looked at my feet she wanted to know how long it had been since my last pedicure. She didn’t soak my hands at all and she was quite rough. I didn’t like her polish choices either. They were brand name but if you have pale skin, you will find that most of the colors were are too dark or too flashy for me. I would have appreciated a petal pink for my hands but I ended up with hot pink as there were hardly any pinks to choose from.

I had a terrible experiene with Monique and Simply Elegant Nails. I was given a Groupon to go there as a gift and was very excited about going there. Upon arrival I was laughed at and told to go ONLINE to make an appointment. The door says ‘Walk-​Ins Welcome,’ which is clearly a joke. I have also never been told to go online to make an appointment for a nail salon. The apppointment times are not ideal for someone who works full-​time but I made one anyway. I showed up on the day of the appointment just to be told that it was cancelled. They emailed me but did not try once to call. I was very frustrated at this time because I had already showed up twice and all she could say was ‘well, you must have filled it out wrong, but I can try to get it done quickly…’ That is not the experience I was looking for. She also had the audacity to tell me that she has been doing this for 16 years and never had a problem… look at all of these terrible reviews! Do not waste your time or money!

I would NOT recommend this business. Beware of «extra» charge that the owner/​operator ask you to pay at the end of service. This charges was not disclosed previously. She called it a «spa» fee which is basically to clean the tub. Isn’t her job to clean it, why customers have to pay extra. She said this fee is listed on her website, but it’s a lie. Nowhere in her website or terms & conditions that list this fee. Also, Monique is not personable at all. BOO. to the business. never come back.

First off, when I emailed about how to schedule for this appointment, I was given a number that didn’t work. I emailed back and asked what that was about and in the back of my mind I was thinking «this better not be a scam». So after many emails, I finally got an appt scheduled and the correct number. Problem is that you have to schedule online and not actually talk to a person– way to cheap out!
Then I get a email saying my appt was cancelled bc I didn’t provide my groupon voucher number… When on the groupon site, it says to provide your voucher when you are at the appointment! This is how this woman got me…
So I finally reschedule and I get there the day of my appt 15 mins early like the email said. She was already with someone and I had to wait in this ridiculous «lobby» by the elevators. She was rude by the way & the «establishment» was TINY and not at all comforting. After waiting 30 mins and talking to many passer-​bys that also worked in the building in other offices, I got up and left. I had places to be and she made me wait 30 mins and never came to check on me or anything!
So I get home now and see that my voucher was moved to the «used» column about one min after I had gotten up and walked out. No wonder why she makes you provide your groupon voucher when you schedule! Which is a violation in groupon instructions on the groupon!!! I DO NOT recommend this lady. She was so rude and unprofessional. I went to a place with Asians and even with the language barrier, at least they were welcoming!

I loved Monique. I did have to wait in the hallway and it was a little difficult to make an appointment but she was very good and easy to talk to. She also had tons of nice opi colors to choose from and my nail polish stayed on my natural nails longer than ever before. I would definitely go back to see her!

This was my first mani/​pedi and due to my horrible experience I feel like it may be my last. Everything was very unprofessional.
I scheduled my appointment online and it was very easy. I got reminder texts regarding my appointment. I made plans all week at work (making up time instead of taking half a day off work) to be able to go to the appointment.
On the day of my appointment I drove my significant other to work (as we have one car) on the other side of town, drove back to the other side of town for appointment and when I got there Monique was not there and the suite (a small room about 4×8) was dark and locked. I checked my cell phone and had a message from Monique stating that I had to call her back within 15 minutes or my appointment would be cancelled (since I did not include my Groupon voucher #), well I got the message 40 minutes after she sent it (as I had been driving for an hour), so my appointment was cancelled. I was not very happy about this due to the fact that this was supposed to be my 1^st mani/​pedi not to mention the wasted gas. I called her and demanded an apology, she called back and explained that too many people were not showing for their appointments after buying Groupons and the she has a child that she has to take to care of (not my problem and very unprofessional).
So I rescheduled again online, this time I included my Groupon voucher #. My appointment was set for 10 am. I arrived 7 minutes early and the suite was dark and locked again. Then at 9:59 am I received a call from Monique stating that she must be having problems with «her scheduler» (she is the sole proprietor) she had my appointment for 11 am and she could not make due to her husband not being there to watch the child (ren). She asked if I could come back at 11 am, to which I replied «Sure, I guess I have no other choice».
Well, she did not show up until 11:06 am (again unprofessional), the water for my pedi was cold and she forgot to turn on the massage chair until that last ten minutes of my appointment. Very disappointing.

DO NOT GO HERE. The lady was so rude, she was unfriendly. I felt so unwelcome, she didn’t even talk to me, I had to start some conversation to try to overcome the awkwardness. If you don’t want to be there don’t take it out on your customer.
Her utensils were not clean, her polish was crusted up and she put some polish remover in it to try to revive it while I was sitting there. I expect ‘professional’ nail salons to have new good quality polish. She hurt when she did my cuticles.
Then after she was done she charged me an extra $ 16 on top of the $ 24 for the groupon. She said it was for gel polish removal, and french. I understand sometimes places charge to remove your old gel, as well as usually for french but she was not upfront about it. Most professional people let you know that there will be an additional charge for it. So I paid $ 40 for horrible service and the worst part is, my nail is ALREADY chipped. One day later!!! I called to see if she would fix it, but of course she dose’t work Sundays or Mondays.
Please don’t put yourself through something this horrible.

I bought 2 Living Social deals for pedicures to Simply Elegant Nails for my mother and I as a Mother’s Day treat to us. We used those vouchers today and had a wonderful experience. Monique was personable, on time and very warm and welcoming. We made our appointments online and were sent emails to confirm as well as remind us of our upcoming appointments. From beginning to end it was a professional and enjoyable experience. In fact, my mother liked her so much she made an appointment for this coming week to get a manicure.

First time I’ve ever had to wait 45 minutes to get my nails done.
First time I’ve ever had someone actually HURT ME from being so rough!
I realize you can have too many Living Social Deals come thru your doors,
but, Honey, your roughness ain’t gettin’ it! The fact that you were tired, and pregnant, and a one owner shop is NOT my fault.

The «Spa» is a room about 8×12, includes the «front desk». That’s the entire establishment!
Oh, during my wait, I had to sit outside the «Suite» in a hallway by an elevator.
Groupons and other deals can be a great bargain, and sometimes you simply get what you pay for.
This one was not even worth the Groupon value.
