Got a few salted caramels and coffee when we were meeting friends at Schiller park. They were all great including the triple-espresso, dry cappuccino, regular coffee and a mocha. It’s not very often that you get someplace that does all the coffee well and even less common in Columbus. I’ll definitely be back. Being steps away from Schiller helps too.

I was only in Columbus for two days and made sure to stop by for both! This place is amazing! They offer soy, almond, and coconut milk substitutes for all of their drinks. Perfection! I got the Iced Karamel Kiss and it is great if you love sweet coffee

I came in here to get a coffee and look at the chocolates. I’m definitely coming back for the coffee! Very superb taste an rivals Pistacia Vera and Stauf’s just to the north. I love their candied orange slices that come in 4 different flavors, but those must be a summer thing because they were out. Prices are very good. I got a coffee and some sweet snacks for just over $ 4 hard to beat that with finely crafted treats anywhere in the city. Coming back many times with my cup sleeve so I can redeem for a free coffee!

We were about to hit the highway home after spending the weekend in Columbus, and I had to find a place to get my wife some buckeyes! We found this place and it was perfect. In the German Neighborhood, they had lots of chocolates, truffles, bunnies, eggs, gummies, barks, and MORE! They even had a wall of coffees that smelled divine. The buckeyes we got here were tons better than the ones I bought earlier in the Capitol gift shop. If you are in Columbus and looking for good sweets or a quaint place to read or work from a laptop, look no further than Winans! You will not be disappointed.

I have been meaning to try out Winan’s for a long time and last night I finally did! My gang and I stopped by there for a little dessert after our dinner at The Brown Bag. Winan’s is so cute! I loved the old photos on the walls and the lovely displays of decadent chocolates! Currently, they are prepping for Easter so they have a lot of chocolate eggs and bunnies. I found myself regretting my delay in stopping in because I definitely would have been buying candies for my family all of this time. I am so excited to shop for candy for my grandpa next time I see him! The candy selection is mostly chocolate but chocolate of all kinds. The chocolates are all beautifully-made and, although I didn’t try any because of my milk allergy, my comrades all enjoyed what they tasted. I did have a latte and I was happy to see that they had coconut and almond milk. I prefer coconut milk but unfortunately they didn’t have any so I went with almond but my latte was very tasty. My boyfriend had the Easter-themed Peeps latte and he really enjoyed it. The atmosphere was very quiet. I noticed a couple of people studying and I have to agree that it would be the perfect place to enjoy some delicious coffee and treats while getting some work done. I also noticed that they had dog treats and a doggie water dish outside. I always love seeing a place that remembers the furry creatures, too! Winan’s is awesome and I am so glad I finally made it in!

Winans is the Le Chocoholique of the German Village, and like every time I compare destinations between the two bourgeois neighborhoods, one is sleek modern urban to the others sleepy village feel. Where the Short North’s chocolate heaven is stepping into trendy bar territory Winans is happy to remain a quaint candy/coffee shop near Schiller. They have really good chocolate pretzels, as long of other chocolate drops and mints. They also serve Brittles, Karamels, and Wurtles. The Karamels are the best. Coming in wax paper they remind me of my neighbors back home, selling them for a church social. These though are made with special care and skill. The interior is very, very small and typical in design. Though comfy when not busy, it has a nice window view of the street. There is a couple bistro tables to sit on the sidewalk. Coffee here is decent, nice, but not notable. I have a drink every time I come, but it is the sweets the make this place rock.

Nice, quiet play to work. Delicious coffee. Owner(at least I think she’s the owner) is aloof and not too friendly. Can’t imagine not greeting people and smiling if it was my place. But the barista is very personable and seems to know her stuff. Super clean too– a bonus!

3 stars for the coffee 4 stars for the chocolate and 5 stars for the service. We tried a cortado — espresso has a nice balance but isn’t as complex in flavor as we’d like. Tried a couple specialty drinks — the buckeye(pb and choc) frappé and the snowman mocha(white choc + marshmallow) — coffee doesn’t shine through very much in either drink but they are still unique offerings that aren’t bad. The real highlight is the chocolate selection. Our favorites were the peanut butter chocolate ladybug, the double chocolate melt away and the white chocolate coconut.

I stop at Winans every Friday for coffee on my way to work. It’s a great little coffee shop on 3rd and it’s rarely busy on weekday mornings. The staff are always friendly and knowledgeable. My usual is a Winans blend but they offer other roasts too as well as fancy-shmancy espresso drinks. Winans also offers different types of chocolates. Last week I bought a bag of «Wetzels» which are just chocolate covered pretzels. They were around $ 6 for the bag. So probably about average for a chocolate shop. A small coffee is around $ 1.95 so also about average for any boutique coffee shop. They offer re-usable sleeves and will reward you if you re-use it 10 times with a free coffee! So saving the environment whilst also working towards a free coffee. What could be better than that?

I adore this place. It’s super cute on the inside. Very polite blonde girl behind the counter knew what she was doing. It was clean very well organized. I don’t get to come here as often as I like but when I do I always satisfied :)

Cute spot for morning coffee. It was hard to tell if they really do make their own candies and chocolates — a lot of it looked imported and Chinese. I recommend ordering the Oregon chai. Décor was nice, could do with some more outdoor seating. My only suggestions for improvement would be to consider a branding overhaul.

What if you like getting work done in cute coffeehouses that smell good, but you don’t always feel like being surrounded by, oh, 24 other people who are fighting you for internet bandwidth and outlets? Hopefully there will never be 24 people in Winans at once because at that point it would probably cease to smell good. It’s very small and very friendly. There is wifi(but only a couple of outlets), and you get to hang out surrounded by chocolate, and it really, really does smell amazing. I haven’t asked directly if any of their dark chocolate is vegan, but I’ve never found one that was among the packaged products with ingredient labels. However, they have those little cups of oatmeal on hand, many of which are indeed vegan(but a couple of which aren’t, so check the labels individually). But the chocolate-having is obvious. I mean, it’s Winans. They have chocolate. They do indeed have coffee and tea, too. And their very own cup sleeves that you can get stamped toward an eventual free one each time you come in. So it’s not as close to the Book Loft as the other two coffeehouses on that stretch of German Village; it makes up for it by being in the no-time-limit parking zone.

Excellent coffee latte and candy choices here. I love it. Pretty girls at service and nice setting on corner windows. Beautiful. I shall indeed return.

Starbucks who? This little gem is one of my favorite coffee shops in the Village. If you go during the early morning hours on weekdays, it’s almost always empty. When I need my caffeine fix, I almost always go with The Himalayan, an extra spicy and peppery blended chai drink. I add a shot of espresso, too. Magical. The smoothies are solid if you’re in the mood for something fruity. Mango is the way to go. Sweet and so refreshing on a warm day. Grab a drink and a chocolate(or four) and stroll down to nearby Schiller Park. *And they even have a water bowl outside for your pooch!

Great local coffee shop. They have freshly brewed flavored coffees like Maine blueberry and snickerdoodle. I admit I’m a coffee snob so I love this place. They also have a huge chocolates counter and various gifts. Also there is a jar of dog treats on the counter for 50 cents each which I think is awesome. Just don’t order an iced coffee– it’s pretty weak and I didn’t care as much for it. Four stars for good coffee and mostly good service in the neighborhood.

After taking a stroll at the Schiller park, I drove to the nearest coffee shop and decided to check it out. It was near their closing time so it wasn’t crowded, but I did see a few people chatting away. The place did have a slightly unpleasant smell – humid stuffy kind of air maybe. I’m not sure if it’s like that all the time, but thought they could maybe look into it. Coffee-wise, it was DELISH! I tried one called Wurtle something latte. I think it was the only Wurtle latte on the menu. I must admit I’m a Starbucks fan, but I love trying new places because you may hit a jack pot! Their foam was thick and silky smooth. Maybe it depends on the barista, but the gentleman who made my coffee definitely has the skills! I’d get the same one again next time, but now I’m anxious to see what else is good here. I did notice a lot of chocolate delicates displayed on tables and shelves. I’m not much of a chocolate person but do enjoy them when I have company. I’ll have to try them next time.

I hate to admit it, but in the past few years, I have become a coffee snob. So, throughout my coffee exploration, I have found two of my favorite coffees, ever: Prestis in Cleveland’s Little Italy and Winans. I discovered Winans while walking through German Village — one of my favorite spots in Columbus. I was on my way to a different coffee shop in German Village but found Winans to be appealing. So, I veered a little off my planned course and ended up in my favorite coffee shop in Columbus(and maybe ever!) The coffee is delicious! I remember my first trip to Winans: I asked the barista what she recommends(which I really enjoy learning what the workers recommend); she recommended the iced coffee and described it as having a slight taste of chocolate. SOLD. It’s the best iced coffee I’ve ever had, and their menu has me going back as often as I can. I’ve only had a few things from their candy/chocolate selection but it’s very tasty from my small sampling! The candy is a bit pricy, but what else do you expect from a fine chocolate shop? At the very least, the candy is a nice treat every once in a while! I usually just grab a coffee to go and explore German Village(no matter how warm or cold!), so I have yet to bring a book/laptop and grab a chair inside.

We love Winan’s! Not only do they have wonderful chocolate, but it is also a great place to have a delicious cup of coffee. Miss Clara’s are my favorite – toffee dipped in either milk or dark chocolate. The truffles are amazing, when you can get them. They don’t make them every day. If they did, I might be as big as a barn.

We were on our way to another coffee shop further up the street and found this place instead. Very good lattes maybe some of the best I’ve had in ohio for sure. Haven’t tried their chocolate but will stop in again for that

Fabulous place. Fine coffee drinks, a variety of international coffees, and excellent chocolates. And a local place. Highly recommended. Music is at a reasonable volume, and nice selection. I love this place. Regina, the manager, is very informed and helpful in selecting what suits your tastes.

Their coffee is just blindingly good. I don’t understand how it’s so good. Someone here really cares about their coffee – and I think it’s the guy whose picture is on the wall. Kudos to you, sir.

Sipping away on my blueberry coffee at work… My inhibitions are dissipating, as I melt into the greatest creation to hit the coffee world. I have experienced similar euphoria with Winans other flavored brews. Give them a try!

Just what I was looking for with the addition of chocolate! Quaint, sparkling clean shop with two friendly, smiling baristas. My Americano was a tad watery but the espresso flavor developed as I continued to sip. And they have an option of real mugs which I believe enhance coffee. The only change I would make is to nibble on one of their chocolates while sipping my coffee. My husband, a non coffee drinker, enjoyed their chocolate covered 4 berry smoothie. Decadent without being over-sweet. I tend to just drink coffee black but after enjoying our drinks at the shop and selecting some chocolates, I decided to splurge on Spicy Chai Latte with soy and espresso for our walk through nearby Schiller Park. It was a great choice with super flavor. More ‘kick’ than regular chai and their chai concentrate is dairy free. Husband grabbed a cinnamon-apple scone that was a little dry and less flavor than he was expecting. On the way home we sampled the chocolate. Melts in the mouth with the flavor shining through: chocolate.

My husband and I hang out in German Village nearly every weekend when we’re in town. And Winans is our favorite coffee shop in the Village. The coffees are delicious, and they always offer new rotations of flavored drinks that change in response to the season. I usually drink black coffee but when I have wandered off the path to order a sweet drink, they haven’t disappointed. Our favorite is the bourbon cherries at the chocolate counter. We each get one every single time! There isn’t much seating but there usually is a free seat if you do want to sit to enjoy your treats. Also, Winans is right across from Schiller Park if you’d rather take your coffee on a stroll. The only bad experience we’ve ever had had to do with an employee who is very, very slow. We’ve seen her there several times, and she’s gotten faster overtime, but when she is working it still is a much slower experience than you’re used to at a coffee shop.

Winans is a quality chocolate shop, in a great space, great location, and with decent prices. I didn’t care for their coffee compared to «just up the street» cup o’ joe, but the chocolate covered oreo I got was great.

Great service, cute shop, quality chocolates in German Village makes for a great experience. I stopped in on a weekday around 5:30 to an empty shop. The girl behind the counter was very nice and knowledgeable about their products. I ordered 6 wurtles in almond, cashew, and traditional pecan all in milk chocolate. They were smaller than I am used to, but, were a good 2 bites. The nuts and caramel tasted fresh and the chocolate was creamy. I also got a truffle with chocolate curls, which I gave as a gift. Plus, a coconut haystack, which I would not recommend. The sweetened coconut doesn’t blend well with the choc late and had a poor consistency. A way to solve the issue would be to toast the coconut. Just a suggestion. I am dying to try their straight up caramels and melt aways! They had a lot of gift style boxed chocolates and nuts, and coffee for sale. They also had a nice café list of coffee drinks, which looked yummy, but I didn’t have time to partake. They have indoor and outdoor café tables. Overall I will definitely stop back. First off, my whole order of chocolates came to less than $ 5 for 8 pieces. Amazing compared to other chocolate shops. Also, the service was a real pleasure.
