I have been a member of Lucille Roberts since it first opened in commack. I enjoy the classes most. Favorite instructors that give a great workout– Cindy, Tracy, Jodi, Maria and Kara also Ruth. Unfortunately, I only gave the gym 2 stars because of Lucille’s policy of cutting classes WAY before And AFTER holidays(also during the summer). This is very frustrating since I am off and anxious to get in more workout time when I am off from work and indulging a little more than I should! They post a schedule of drastically reduced classes starting the MONDAYBEFORE the actual holiday and then layer in DONATION classes that they are too cheap to pay the instructors for! Some of these classes are to raise money for revlon cancer walk, but others are the instructors coming in to teach but not getting paid by Lucille! We are so thankful they are there to teach and feel bad so we all chip in some money to pay Them. Just ridiculous. This week management actually TOLD you what you had to pay for a class before you could go in. If you paid, your hand was marked with an x. Sounds illegal to me, no? If not, highly unprofessional. I was prompted to write this review after a particularly aggravating experience this morning. When the new«holiday» schedule was posted, I took a picture of it for reference during the week. I planned on going everyday for 8:30 class(donation classes for all or nonexistent) and the 9:45 classes. I checked my schedule and saw there was an 8:30 donation class with Dawn scheduled and a 9:45 with Maria. I got up early and got to the gym, only to find out, the 8:30 class, previously posted was cancelled. No sub, no apology, nothing! I am a teacher, when I am absent, I am required to get a sub. Lucille apparently doesn’t follow that mindset. They DONOTCAREABOUTTHEIRMEMBERS! This is not the first time and I’m sure it won’t be the last time this happens. Management says, go online, complain. Don’t bother, NOTHINGISEVERDONE! I must say, the price is very cheap, but it is SOOOO true, you get what you pay for. Crappy customer service and limited classes around holidays and summer. Hmmmm. the new LA fitness is looking better and better…

This gym was amazing and I’ve visited my share of gyms! I decided to take a zumba class there just to get a feel of things and was extremely satisfied with the class, the staff and the guest instructor Brandon! Everyone was so helpful.

I only joined here for a month, because they had a pay as you go type promotion going on, and I hated it. It’s really small and everything is kind of dingy looking. Also, all they really have is a row of treadmills and bikes. They also have about five different weight machines but there is only one of each kind so they’re impossible to get on. The classes aren’t in a private room either, they’re in the middle of the gym which is kind of weird especially if you don’t like people watching you work out. It’s impossible not to watch, literally every machine faces the center where the classes are. The only perk is that it is cheap but you’re better off shelling out the extra money and going to a decent gym.
