Los Pinos

This is 2^nd time trying this place.
The 1^st time wasnt so bad. I ordered takeout & got ceviche right before they closed and were super nice about it. The food was pretty good the 1^st time.
Now, i went in there today & ive gota’ say that i was pretty disappointed in the quality of the food & cleanliness of this place.
I ordered a steak nachos for around $ 8. Decent size for what i paid for & they put plenty of meat in it so it was worth the price. However, the steak was overcooked & lacked flavor in the food. Plus, the chips at the bottom had already become soggy by the time i ate it. I only live down the street & i consumed this as soon as i got home so idk how it got soggy so fast! I asked for extra chips on the side & they were stale! They were probably sitting out all day. Just naaaasty.
What really got to me was the scent of the place. IT SMELLED LIKE URINE! I couldnt stand the scent of this place & the condiment bar was just so dirty! The salsa bar was not well maintained, the tongs in the jalapenos was soaking in the sauce, and there was tables that hadnt been cleaned. Disgusting!
I dont think ill be coming back after seeing all of this today.

This is the closest Mexican resturant to my house so kinda by default it’s the one we go to. It’s not bad and it’s not the best. The Carne asada and carnitas can vary in taste by the day which is part of the reason why it’s 4 stars.

This place is right by my house and I’m bummed it’s not better. It’s hard to go wrong with Mexican food, but this place found a way. I gave them a few tries, but I’m done giving them the benefit of the doubt. One time, the tacos were fine, and then the next time, they were BLAZINGLY spicy. My boyfriend loves extremely spicy stuff and even he couldn’t eat his tacos. We had to leave without eating. The next time, the tacos were fine, but there was a long, dark HAIR in my salad! I finally gave up. I won’t be going back.

Decided to try Los Pinos out. Went for there version of chilaquiles. Not what I was used to. I didnt want the rice or beans that came with it but rather have a full plate of chips, chicken and sauce. Not enough chips and cheese. Chicken was plentiful. It was $ 8.55.
Service was good. Not as fast as I would have liked as I was on my lunch hour but whatever.
They do give you a basket of (store bought) tortilla chips and you can choose your salsa from salsa bar.

This place is decent. Not the best I’ve had, but for the area with little competition around, it is not a bad place to go. I do love the chorizo burrito and the tacos. The steak can be dry and underseasoned at times but that’s easy to fix with a little salsa. Overall, a nice place to eat. Service is good and time between ordering and completion is relatively quick.

I’ve eaten here twice now. The first time, I got the chimichanga platter with shredded chicken. The second time, one grilled chicken soft taco and a chile relleno. Both times, food and service

I went there one morning after a long night of fun, seeking a caldo de mariscos. I let the cook know how I was feeling and he took care of me. The caldo was tasty, there was meat in every dip of the spoon!
I’ve gone back multiple times for taco’s and burrito’s. This place does the job and you leave with a full stomach! The portions are solid.
Chips and salsa are fresh!

I decided to have lunch here today after stumbling upon the restauraunt and reading a few Unilocal reviews. I’ll break it down into two categories:
Food — Pretty good. I ordered two chicken enchiladas with rice and beans. Enchilada sauce was very flavorful and the complimentary salsa bar had some awesome salsa’s as well. Chips tasted fresh and although I got my food to go and live about 15 minutes away, by the time I got home everything was still very warm. It is quite a bit of food and as for prices they’re pretty standard. My meal (complete with chips, sour cream, and guacamole) was about $ 10. Over-​all I’d rate the food ⁷⁄₁₀ — might try something else on the menu next time.
Service — Fantastic! I was immediately greeted by the friendly employee and felt very welcomed there. When my
food was ready he pointed and offered me salsa. The place was very clean and had a great atmosphere. Definitely will be back next time I’m craving some quick mexican food.

A good taqueria, serving authentic Mexican food.
Taco Tuesday is always a good bargain.
The nachos and carne asada burrito are my go-​to favorites. You will not leave hungry.

I have enjoyed this little spot for a few years — they have very consistent service and quality. I only order their tacos and hit up the salsa bar.
On Saturday morning my husband made the mistake of asking what I wanted for breakfast. It was almost 11 am, and I responded tacos. We were near Los Pinos so we stopped in, even though I could tell it was NOT what he wanted for breakfast. I ordered two veggie tacos (soft) and he had 3 carnitas, which he ordered well-​done, hoping for crispy meat.
We both started with our own basket of chips. The salsa bar has fresh limes (and lemons) and pickled jalapeño/​onions, and 4 different salsas. Usually I really enjoy their salsa, but it was really watered down this time. All of them except the tomato/​marinara-​like one. The salsa verde and the hot salsa were both like water. They also have a pico de gallo that’s okay, but I was pretty disappointed with the hot. (Chips were good though!)
My two veggie tacos were beautifully made though and made up for the salsa. Husband had 3 soft shells that were kind of crispy, but soggy meat, so perhaps they misunderstood his special request. My tacos were super duper good and I’ll definitely return to this place for more of them when I’m in the area.
