Dr. Teplin saved my father’s life a few years ago. You wouldn’t normally think a podiatrist would be involved in a life or death surgeon, but when you’re a podiatric surgeon who specializes in caring for diabetic patients… well, stuff happens.
My dad had some ulcers on his feet that just would not heal, and his other doctor was useless. Since diabetics frequently suffer from neuropathy, most of the time my dad didn’t even know that something was wrong with his feet. By the time his current podiatrist admitted that he couldn’t do anymore and referred him to the John Muir Wound Care Center, he was in very bad shape.
We went to see Dr. Teplin, who was aghast at his condition. He did a number of tests, including a Doppler test, and called for an ambulance to take him to John Muir’s ER. My dad’s infection was so bad that he had to be on IV antibiotics for an entire week before his surgery. He almost had to have his leg amputated.
Dr. Teplin performed the surgery (just a toe or two), and was just wonderful to my dad and our whole family during the process. He was open, honest and always available.
