Highland Park, IL
Twin Pine has been in business for decades, most as family-​run. It’s a collection of 3 rustic cabins and an older house, all on or very close to the lake. Each unit has been decently remodeled inside and are generally very clean and serviceable. I’m kind of a neat and clean freak and am quite comfortable here. The kitchens are pretty fully equipped, and the units even have cable TV (if you care). The owners live on-​site and are very friendly and helpful, but stay out of your way if you want. Sitting in the lawnchairs and watching the lake is incredibly relaxing anytime of the day.
