First time trying this place and I really enjoyed it. The Thursday $ 7 burger was one of the best burgers I’ve had in a while. The fries were a different style than I prefer, but still got the job done. Our waitress was friendly and there was very little waiting involved. I like the small-town bar atmosphere, but it’s an added bonus that the place was clean and not too cluttered up. I will definitely be back to try out more of the menu, especially for Sunday brunch.

Stopped in for lunch and was told by a friend with us, that the portions are large. Wife and I split a Reuben and the advice was«on point». Half a portion was just right and the sandwich was very good. Always looking for a Wednesday night spot to eat and this will definitely be an option on Wednesday’s.

THISPLACESUCKS!!! Over an hour for simple bar food, no offer for a discount or anything after speaking with manager. NEVER come here! If I could do zero stars I would.

We went for brunch yesterday and the service was awful. We sat down around 12:50 and the food didn’t come out until 2:25. I can understand if it was busy in the restaurant, but there were only 3 other tables being occupied. Alsi, anytime we ordered drinks it took over 15 minutes to get them. The only positive thing to say about tour experience yesterday was that the food was delicious.

This is a dump that serves horrible food. I’m not going to spend much time reviewing this… place. It does not deserve a star. You will be disappointed!

Great food, great staff, rocking events for all holidays. Love the live music and open mic night. Also they support a lot of community events and charities in Conyers, Ga amazing place.

Typical bar food and atmosphere(think Sons of Anarchy scene or a western movie with Clint Eastwood). Very spacey and great seating accomodation Feels very local«exclusive»…I immediately felt like an outsider and let’s just say that some of the customers appeared to feel less than hospitable having me in their dining company. Crab cakes are worth the drive to Conyers. Chicken wings were acceptable and satisfying. The«homemade» french fries did not delight my tastebuds, The waitress seemed inexperienced and easily frustrated but was pretty and cordial. Didn’t have dessert but the menu showed a very tempting and thoughtful selection. Sits next to active railroad tracks with a special history attached to it-hence the name.

I’m so glad my co-workers and I didn’t take heed to the reviews. Of course we all were skeptical as well but all in all I think this is another hidden jewel in Conyers. The waitresses were really nice. The food was actually better than I thought it would be. For starters, I recommend fried picles, fried greenbeans and oh they have the BEST hummus I’ve tasted including making my own. The catfish was tasty and I loved the cole slaw(no mayo)!

I went to lunch today with a small group. We arrived Around 11:45. Our order was in less than 10 minutes later. At 12:35 we still did not have food. The server kept saying it was coming and that lots of people got there at the same time. When the food arrived 4 of the 6 got food. A minute or so later, the next person got her sandwich. Finally as the first 4 were almost finished with their burgers, I got my burger. I ordered no onion and medium well. Onions were on the burger and it was pink throughout. I really think if a restaurant cannot handle groups, they should say so up front to provide the option for positive feelings. As it is, none of us ever want to return and will share this experience with others. Not good judgment on their part.

I agree with the majority of the reviewers. This place is a JOKE… a tavern in Mayberry would fare better than this. You walk in and the so called waitress/hostess appears to be bothered that she has to get UP! You sit anywhere you want – looking and walking past tables and booths with dirty dishes. You have to ASK to have your table wiped cleaned, including the seat. A HOTMESS! The food was the best part of the visit… PLEASE serve the food HOT! I’m ready to blame the slow waitress/hostess. PITIFUL… where did you find these people? Are they related to someone that owns the place? Upgrade your wait staff! You shouldn’t have to ask for napkins and flatware and water and syrup(u brought me pancakes. didn’t u know I needed syrup). If they improved the service, I could look past the old dusty tavern. I DIDNOT leave a tip… OH! I failed to mention. the waitress who couldn’t do her job felt it appropriate to walk past us to PLAY with another customers DOG! We were all outside… he tied it up to a post on the outside… like it was a horse! Need I say more!

So much potential wasted at this lackluster restaurant. I really WANT to like this place but have simply had too many incidents of poor service and substandard fare to go back. Lunch or dinner weekend or weekday, it’s just doesn’t come together here.

I’m glad I didn’t go by the negative reviews and miss this place! It was great food! We came for brunch and got eggs Benedict with crab. 4 dollar mimosas for brunch. A bloody Mary Bar. Food server Melissa was awesome! The food was fresh and tasty. Looking forward to coming back and checking out night life. They are open on Sunday. We were here Sunday and brunch is served until 4 p. m

I wish i could give a fraction of a star to this place. Went to this place a couple of times. Every time found a very rowdy crowd of young thugs inside who apparently were friends of the staff or the band. Needless to say it was difficult to have a good time. When you don’t feel safe. Wish my experience was better. But I tell everyone who asks about my experiences. Save them the drama.

Like every restaurant in Rockdale, the Whistle Post is a sad attempt at a restaurant. When I first moved back to Georgia after six years, this would be part of our weekly bar crawl through Old Town. Being a huge fan of beer and the fact that I despise all things Budweiser, Miller, etcetera they did have a large selection of import and micro beers. The last time I was there a year ago, the beer selection was limited and what beers they had were crap. I have taken my parents to brunch at the Whistle Post twice and the last time we went, my mother told me she would disown me if I ever brought her back. The waitresses are friendly and it doesn’t hurt that they are(or were at the time) attractive. I have a useless-as-a-career culinary arts degree and thought the brunch menu looked promising. Unfortunately what we were served on both occasions was just awful. The pancakes were always extremely undercooked in the center. My eggs over medium should have had Goodyear stamped on the yolk. I can’t remember what I ordered that came with hollandaise, but the sauce was cold, broken, and bland(and I’m almost certain I became I’ll from being undercooked). The handful of times I’ve eaten there for brunch there haven’t been that many patrons in the dining room, but it would always seemed like it took forever and a day for our meal to arrive. Also, it would usually arrive at various intervals and most items would be cold. It is a shame this place went from sugar to 5h! t because Conyers needs more independent restaurants. I despise chains. But the only way I can expect to find better restaurants is to move out of this rapidly deteriorating county. Get a good look at how Clayton county is now because that will be Rockdale’s fate in the next five to ten years.

Not clean. Roach problem, one tried joining us for brunch right up on table begging for left overs. Please find better exterminator. Food is decent.

When one advertises«Brunch» there’s a small expectation of good, fresh food made that day… not the leftovers from the brawl on the night before. Today was the Official Understaff and UnderClean everything day. The two gals working were in the weeds on menu items with expectations of busing and wiping the tables from the brunch trade… good lord, I hope the mess on the table was just from the morning. The price for the«reuben» was a price that topped a good reuben tab in downtown Atlanta. Having to ask for the greased up fries was akin to asking for the rice paper sheath to go along with the Hiri Kiri blade… perfunctory yes, necessary for evisceration… not so much. The griddle had the taste of January 2009 on it as the deli thin homogenized meat product was warmed up there along with a little lard-o on toast to scorch on the same surface. My bride’s hamburger… another high price for the production… was scorched and 30 minutes late after serving my Reuben. In looking at the other reviews… perhaps there’s a clue to be found here in Old Towne Conyers… if you serve crummy food, people will write«crummy things» about your restaurant. The place has the potential for a good place to service the restaurant challenged community if you would hire proficient cooks, wait and bus staff that aren’t in crisis mode at all times. Between the service; the lost workers; the untidy cooking area and high price and truly poor food qualify, it’s difficult not to spend a couple hundred more words on the Whistle Post Tavern… but there’s a scoop(a big scoop) of sorbet calling me to calm down my gastro-tract. Save yourselves!

Where do I start? I’ve eaten here probably five times and each time it was an absolute joke. I’ll never forget the first experience. I ordered shrimp bisque and was served a soup bowl of queso dip with three and a half small shrimp in it! With a name like Whistle Post one would think that they would serve good Southern food. Not the case. Their fried chicken, while not too bad, is served with what is obviously commercially produced brown gravy from a mix or a jar, and awful. The last time I was in there, which will be the last time, I ordered chicken fingers and was served the most laughably measly portion of just-this-side-of-burnt chicken fingers that I refused the plate, sending it back with a «No, thanks.» I wish I could attach a picture of this plate. You would not believe it. Go for drinks but be warned you will be served carefully measured, not generous, pours. Skip the trivia run by a know-it-all type who asks impossible questions(I often win trivia all by myself so my knowledge of trivia is not the problem. This guy’s ego and sour personality is the problem.) They do have decent bands but eat elsewhere first!

I’m indifferent to this place. went for a drink and food was not particularly impressed with either, the décor is old enough to be chic or a dive bar just old enough to be tired. The location is a strong indication of what the place can be, a real thinking mans pub with history shared across the bar and a variety of reds and blues, lawyers and the accused can have a brew. Until it has a personality I’m indifferent.

I don’t think the previous reviewer and I went to the same restaurant. This is one of my favorite places in Conyers. It’s local, unique, and offers plenty of menu options. They are located right next to the train tracks, and whenever a train goes by, they hand out free shots. They often have live music on weekend nights. Maybe restaurants closer to the city have better food, but you can’t beat the small-town atmosphere here.
