Our first stop in the very small town of Copperopolis was the Copperopolis Olive Oil Co. Ten feet from where we parked the car was the rear door to the shop. Co-owner Jodie ushered us in, and was very nice about the fact that we clearly did not read the«do not enter» sign. The small shop carries a good variety of different cooking products and supplies, but the main attraction has to be the free olive oil tasting. At least 20 different olive oils, and balsamic vinegar’s are presented to you. Jodie let us try as many as we desired as well as offering up some of her own suggestions. The butter flavored olive oil, and the raspberry flavored balsamic vinegar are the ones that really packed the WOW factor for me. Butter infused olive oil is just as amazing as it sounds. It basically tastes like liquid butter. The raspberry balsamic tastes just like raspberry jam. We tried a few other flavors, including a jalapeño olive oil. All sorts of fun can be had here, especially when the one hosting the tasting is fun themselves.

Have been is this adorable shop 3 times since moving to the area 2 months ago. That should tell you something. The husband and wife owners/proprietors are very passionate about their business. From setting up tastings of anything you like, to oiling an olive wood egg cup before wrapping it up for you. The olive oils and balsamic vinegars are all delicious. Just bought the White Mango and Cilantro Garlic vinegars today. You must stop by. You will not be disappointed.

When we saw that this small shop was open we stopped. For being really out of the way there were still a couple of people tasting and buying olive soaps. The tasting counter is lined with different oils and vinegars. They pour anything you want to try into small paper cups so it is easy to taste. I enjoyed almost everything we tasted and so did S. We came home with an assortment of oil and vinegars. One of favorite vinegar is fig; much to my surprise I did not like their fig balsamic at all. I did like the apple and ended up buying two bottles. A stop at the Copperopolis Olive Oil is a nice break on the long ride on Highway 4 to the Gold Rush towns along Highway 49. I will stop when ever I pass this way It is 5 stars because: the oils and vinegars are good, it is in the most unexpected spot in the middle of nowhere, and the person behind the counter was friendly. Although the tasting area is small I doubt that there would ever be crowds of people in the shop

What a wonderful store! Home made olive oils and what a selection! Hubby and I like the Jalapeño and the Garlic. They also have unique gifts, dishes, glassware, olive wood is the specialty. we bought a olive wood chess set, very reasonably priced I might add. Their are soaps and lotions too that we have in our guest bathroom that smell wonderful. Prices are very reasonable all around. Stock up on your favorite olive oil because they do run out!
