Great food, very fresh and tasty! Have the home fries over the hash browns, and the sausage patties. Great service. This place is a cute little gem between Phoenix and Sedona.

The brown gravy alone brought me back to Sunday dinners with my family. The waitress was awesome, she knew her stuff & was delightful. The place is a bit off the beaten path(follow the signs!) but it’s truly welcoming. The food is simple diner food, don’t expect grass-fed beef & organic greens. Expect canned green beans aside fluffy mashed potatoes filled with love. You can eat outside, you can go to the bar in the back, you can read the Coffee-Gram which is always fun. If you’re traveling down(or up) I-17 near Cordes & you don’t want to drive into Mayer or Prescott Valley, this is a great choice.

Rudest server ever, older lady with a poor attitude) provided nothing but terrible service, had dried food of some type on her hands when she served us(gross) and generally didn’t seem to care if we got enjoyed our meal or not. It’s a shame because I really wanted to like this place.

My food was better tonight, can’t speak for everyone though. They weren’t as impressed. Everyone was friendly and good environment. Everyone seemed happy. My only complaint was, the onions on my chili burger, but my fault for assuming there wouldn’t be any or that I would be asked. Overall, a better experience for me! I lived here on and off since 1999 and see business come and go, so it’s nice to see them doing well in a small town.

Great little mom and pop diner. Small town feel and good food. Way better than mcdonalds, which is the only other option. Definitely will recommend this place to my friends and family.

The roommate and I went on an adventure drive and found ourselves here. The atmosphere was very family friendly, the food was plentiful, fresh, and reasonably priced. The staff were all friendly and the place was packed. I’d guess it’s a favorite of the locals, and that says plenty about the place.

This is the first bad review I write in Unilocal.I was very disappointed today when I stop at this diner on my way to Prescott and I had to wait more than half and hour for a breakfast sandwich for me and a breakfast special(two eggs, two pancakes, hash browns and bacon) for my husband. Maybe they had a problem at the kitchen or they were short staffed. This can happen, but what cannot happen is to serve your clients old bread. My breakfast sandwich was made with a very tough and cold english muffin. At least they could had tosted it, but they didn’t. I won’t came here again on my trips to Arizona.

We chanced upon this place while driving the freeway to Sedona. It’s one of the warmest welcomes I’ve had in America. The food was traditional, well priced and extremely filling. I’d stop here again in a heartbeat — I suggest you do the same. The buttermilk pancakes were epic. The Cadillac Omelette was one of the largest meals I have ever set sight on.

We found the 50s Backseat Diner after checking Google Maps and seeing a traveler’s nightmare come true: 1.5 hour delay on I-17. We decided to pull over at this diner and wait out the traffic(didn’t work.). However, the 50s Backseat Diner was lovely, cheerfully lit and fun. There was good 50s music playing as we walked in, and the restaurant looked clean. Not only that, but the booths were pretty fun, and they weren’t ripped and trashed like those at many diners you’ll find. This diner is at a motel and RV Park, and when we pulled up, the entire space looked clean, well-maintained, and had a fresh coat of paint. Our waitress was cheerful, and our French fries and chicken finger plate came out pretty quickly. The sweet potato fries were very good, and the rest of my family had no complaint. In case you’re spending time in this restaurant or motel, there is also a horse shoe game or a pool table available; just ask for the pool cues or horseshoes at the bar. There is a nice patio outside that you can use if it’s not too hot. Most people were outside on the patio when we were there. We had a pleasant meal at the 50s Backseat Diner, and I’d return again. Good service, and good diner prices. Oh yes! While we were there, someone paid for our meal for us, an angel, in hopes that we would pay it forward to the next person. We appreciated the kindness, and we’ll be paying it forward!

We are staying at Acrosanti and this place is 2 miles away… so we decided to eat here for dinner. The other options were McDonalds, Subway and a Pizza place. If you are looking for home cooked meals, this is the place to be. This is a small restaurant and I must say that I am impressed. Given the fact that this place is in the middle of nowhere, the place is clean and they have delicious food as well. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak with mashed potatoes and it was delicious. Our waiter was so nice and very professional as well. I highly recommend this place for RoadTrippers going to Flagstaff or Phoenix.

This is a clean alternative to all the fast food you usually eat off the I-17. I had a chicken sandwich, with green chili on top. It was great. I would have preferred the chicken to be beaten thinner or cut thinner but it was good. Good portion of fries and good cold drinks.

So when you see my picture, you’re probably thinking what I was when the idea was pitched, «Fish in the middle of the desert? And at a 50’s Diner?» I’m driving to the Grand Canyon a few days before a work trip and I’m ready for lunch on top of I need to do some scouting in the guide book I bought. Subway and other nasty fast food places keep popping up. I pray, «oh Lord let’s find something unique» and then I remembered Unilocal. The 50’s Diner could be easily missed but you would miss out. It’s perfect for people in route from Phoenix to the Grand Canyon. All of the locals have a lunch habit it appears. They serve breakfast till 3pm and have all the sundaes and shakes your 50’s heart can fancy. The server came by and asked if I wanted their Alaskan Pollock. I’m thinking, «I really don’t do fish much unless I know it’s fresh and last I looked at a map, Alaska is long darn ways off.» I tried it and oh wow, I’m glad I did. Light breading they do on their own, no fishy taste, homemade coleslaw and tarter sauce The server sold me on it and I enjoyed my experience so much I ended up with a piece of apple pie to top it off. All of this despite my plans to run over 20 miles tomorrow into the Canyon and back out. I would come back if this Tennessean ventures here again.
