Guaranteed to hit the spot. You can always count on this restaurant for quick delicious food from the old neighborhood. Asian Spanish cuisine is served by Chinese men who speak Spanish to you no matter what nationality you are. I always get the pan fried steak with sweet plantains and Moro rice. The avocado salad is a nice light start to the meal. I usually enjoy that with the chicken noodle soup. To end the meal you must have the flan. They Definately need more of these places around. Yum!

I went to Jardins a while back(maybe 2 years ago) and really liked their food. Recently, however; I went there again and ordered a chicken steak with fries and shrimp with broccoli. with rice and beans. the food honestly was mediocre. it was sort of like over priced chinese food. I’m not saying its really over priced .just that I got the food as i would when i order take out and it tasted the same… a bit bland if i might add. the chicken steak smelled. our waiter was very nice and sweet and the place was nice and spacious. I mainly went there because of all the positive Unilocal reviews, people calling this place the«gem» of queens. Well, not in my opinion, its just like going into a chinese place eating regular chinese food and being amused hearing all the chinese waiters speak fluent spanish,(yes they really do) maybe its what we ordered that day or maybe that chicken was bad. i don’t know Would I go back? yea probably cus i live closely but someone needs to suggest it i definitely won’t be suggesting it lol and would I recommend people to go there? sure why not? maybe someone else can get a better food experience that me :)

The food and the staff are all awesome. All the waiters are Asians that were born in Venezuela(from what I’ve heard speaking to a couple of them) so their Spanish is on point. The food is decently priced from lunch specials to dinner. RECOMMENDATIONS(all served with house special fried rice and maduros/tostones(sweet or fried plantains) — Chulettas(pork chops) — Steak — Shrimp with lobster sauce

I might not have checked in every single time I been here only reason for that is because there was no such thing as Unilocal when I started coming here. I been going to this place since I was probably 5 years old I’m 34 now and the food has always been great the price is cheap and there red beans wow!

We were seated quickly, waiter brought us water and bread and took our order. The food was made in less than 10 minutes and I must say it was delicious. The combination platters are a great deal, I had the sesame chicken, shrimp fried rice and fried green plantains. I will definitely be coming back for more. Great service, great food, great price.

This place is my goto for chino Latino food in queens. Must of the really good places are no longer around. I enjoy coming here for my Latin steak and fried rice fix or how about some monfogo with pork fried rice. Yup it’s a most if you grew up Latin. You can find some interesting mix of Latin and Chinese here. They also offer batidos and a tasty flan.

There are not alot of good Chinese food spots in this part of queens, but this is one of the best(well until you head to flushing). Surprisingly they do Chinese and Spanish food well. Overall worth going to

It’s OK. Nothing special. Wife raved about palomina steak and it wasn’t too bad. The food here is same as other restaurants in the area but also have Chinese food there. Recommendation: not a bad place to try. Try it

This is a NYC Staple! If you’re in the neighborhood do not cause yourself a disservice and pass this place by. The food is outrageously good. I stick to the combination plates(Pork chops, Steak, Ribs, Chicken cutlet with House Special Fried Rice & Maduros) with«Homemade Iced tea» — its BONKERS! Everyone I’ve taken to this place has become a regular regardless of where they live in NYC.

Caught serious food poisoning after eating an order of chicken and broccoli here. I know it was from jardin because it was the only meal I had for the day. Felt like I was being shanked in my stomach about an hour after I ate my meal. Walking to the back and visiting the bathroom will show you the real sanitary conditions of this place. I used to eat here years ago without a problem but my last visit will keep me away for good.

When I was a young New Yorker, we had a restaurant in Manhattan which was Chino Cubano. I would always order the fried rice and steak. Man, was it good. Fast forward almost 40 years, the place is still in business and I try to get back to it whenever I’m in town. Until this time. Someone told me about this place. It was not too far so I decided to try it. Ready for disappointment, I ordered the fried rice and steak. Well let me tell you. It’s been a while since I’ve had this and it was d-lish. I was so excited to eat that I finished everything before everyone was half way done. I wish we had a place like this were I live now. I would be there every week. Our order also included the pork chops. Wow, also very good. So, if your ever in the mood for good Chino Cubano, this is the place you must go to. It was awesome. Service is always good in these places. I highly recommend. Just a note. Just be careful in checking you order. Sometimes they mess up the order and give you something you didn’t order or not give you what you ordered. If you don’t, by the time you get your check, it’s too late.

I made the mistake of ordering an out going meal,(stay with me, words can be deceiving), from this establishment. I was torured on the trip home by the fantastic salavating aromas seeping from the bag. Once home I was amazed by the generous portions of food on my plate.(Leftovers!!) Their mixed rice is to die for, healthy portions of shrimp, chicken. So flavorful! The chicken breast was very tender, seasoned nicely and such a decent portion,(leftovers for tomorrow!!) Shout out to my amigo Cesar, who introduced me to this treasure of a restaurant. I was smart enough to also order a slice of the flan… desert for later. In conclusion, I look forward to my next meal.

Ive never been to a place like this before and i have to say its pretty awesome, lucky for me I have a boyfriend who loves food because I would have never walked into this place otherwise. Everything seems fresh and served hot! you get a lot for the price. my only comment is that the food was a bit dry… the meat the plantains and the rice but washed it down with some iced tap water and no problem! Recommend trying!

Let me start off by saying I am not one who enjoys eating meat outside. For this place, I will make an exception. The bistec is cooked to perfection. Comes with onions, white rice, and some of the best plaintains I ever had. Always so sweet and made just right. Its only thing I have tried on the menu over the years. Its that good, I didnt want anything else. Really have to give credit for the portions too, and its only 12 $. A fair deal. Always pretty busy here. Staff is quite and eager to please.

My review is based on a takeout order. I kept it it really simple and I ordered a pint of the mixed fried rice and a pint of the shrimp fried rice. I’m so glad this place does fried rice the way its supposed to be done, with egg, veggies, meat/seafood and NOT using yellow rice!!!(thats a big pet peeve of mine) both were tasty but the mixed fried rice was very very good. They seem to be very popular, which is always a good sign. I will definitely visit again!

i love spanish/chinese fusion and this place is cheap with huge portions. kind of a divey/greasy spoon place but that was just what i was in the mood for. ordered the bistec carne with french fries and rice. $ 13.50 for a steak that was so flavorful and the size of my head. you can’t beat that.

They wait staff were sooooo nice. I really wanted to give this restaurant a better review but the food was not what I expected, unfortunately. I got a little greedy, so I ordered two plates for me: mofongo(mashed plaintains cooked with pork skin) and ropa vieja(shredded beef). The mofongo tasted like it was cooked in old oil. I didn’t find any meat. The sauce that it came with looked like a darker version of duck sauce. It was a little sweet too. The rope vieja combo platter was ok; I ordered mixed rice and tostones as my sides. Unbeknownst to me, the mixed rice comes with shrimp. So if you are allergic, please ask the staff to hold the shrimp. The rice had a good flavor. It reminded me of my mom’s cooking. My boyfriend ordered from the Chinese menu and got chicken with mushrooms and moro(white rice mixed with black beans). The chicken was served on a metal platter, so it kept the dish really hot. The chicken was a little dry but had decent flavor. The rice was good. The portions were very big and the dishes were cheap. I am not sure if they were having an off day or I ordered the wrong dishes. I did notice a few people that ordered steak with onions and it looked good.

I’m that girl who feels Hispanic at heart but am Chinese. I can order my food in Canto and Spanish and feel pleased as the waiters speak both. I love this place because you know what to expect. It’s a greasy Chinese/Latino greasy spoon and I’ve tried both the Chinese and Spanish food. The dishes are large although I would say, I feel that sometimes it is a bit overpriced. Fast service like in most Asian places. That being said, do not come here on a diet. Their chuletas are great-greasy greasy. Chicharron de pollo is like at any other spot. Their shrimp house fried rice is great on its own. Tostones are standard. Soups, ribs, grilled chicken, steak are tasty. I’ve ordered braised fish fillet with ginger and scallions on the Chinese menu side which was not quite authentic, but had the flavors. Much better than your typical Chinese take-out joint and it was a better job than I could have done at home. It definitely satisfied a craving. I believe this place is cash only. They have Tsingtao beer which is decent. It can get very crowded on the weekends!

My fiancé wanted to come here. The food was okay. Nothing special. The maduro was really good though. It’s a cheap spot if you want to grab some lunch. It’s interesting because when you walk in you think it’s all just Chinese food. The waiters all speak spanish well. I would go only if I was in a rush or wanted to maduros. However if it makes a difference my fiancé rates it 4 stars.

This is a Queens institution. This restaurant has been open for over thirty years. I have been coming here since I was a little kid and the food hasn’t changed much at all, they did renovate the interior not too long ago though. This restaurant is known as a Chino Latino restaurant, it’s essentially a restaurant that serves up Chinese food and Spanish food. I typically find the Spanish side to be a little better. It’s always amusing to me to see the waitstaff, they are all Asian but it seems like everyone is fluent in Spanish. The food: Chicharron de pollo sin hueso– boneless crispy fried chicken with house fried rice and tostones. I really like the version here, the chicken is crispy, the seasoning is nice and the chicken didn’t feel greasy at all. The house special fried rice is good, but I think I prefer the moro rice. The tostones has nice flavor, but should be crispier.
Pernil Asado– fresh ham with fried plantains, only served on the weekends. They call it ham, but it’s more pieces of pork than ham, it’s also served in a garlic sauce. The pork is nice, but it’s missing the crunchy skin. The pork seems to be more braised than anything else, since there really isn’t much of a crust. It’s a good dish, but not amazing. Camarones y Filete de Pescado Asado– Baked Shrimp & Fish Filet. I thought this dish was great, a tad pricey but good none the less. It was a whole filet with five baked shrimp. The filet was cooked nicely, it was flaky and tender. The shrimp were a good size and they were cooked properly. I would order this again. Chuleta de Cerdo Frita con tostones y moro y cristianos. The pork chop is nice and tender and has a nice seasoning to it. The tostones were nice and crispy and I thought the moro y cristianos was wonderful.
Pudin de fruita– it’s pretty much flan with fruit in it. I love this dessert. It’s so good!!! The flan itself is light and custardy, there is a bread piece on the bottom that is nice and there is a caramel flavor throughout. I highly recommend. Pechuga de Pollo a la Placha– pan fried chicken breast. I thought this was just OK, the breast seemed rather dry yet greasy at the same time.
