What sets Rainbow apart from the slew of similar women’s clothing stores on Junction is their«plus size» department downstairs. I’m a shapely gal, so that makes all the difference in the world to me. I can *finally* shop for clothes in my own ‘hood. Thanks, Rainbow! However, even though I’m thrilled that they even have one at all, the plus size section does leave a lot to be desired. The selection is far more limited than the«regular» junior sizes upstairs. There are way, way cuter things in the regular section. Also, the quality of the merchandise can vary. Some articles are pretty poorly made and overpriced. The styles also vary widely. Many of the items are tacky or just plain ugly. They have a good selection of club wear. My style is fairly conservative/classic so I often don’t like the majority of items available. And, of course, they take great liberties with the term«plus size.» I usually wear an XL, but here I get 3XL! Still, I have picked up a few nice pieces from them. If they expand and/or improve the plus size section, Rainbow could easily become a five-star shop for me. Generally, I would say this isn’t a store where you build a wardrobe. The quality just isn’t that great. It’s the kind of fun store where you buy a few trendy, impulse-purchase pieces to supplement the staples you already own. Prices are competitive, but not great. NO fitting rooms! I repeat, no fitting rooms. Buyer beware.
