Worst experience I’ve ever had at a Japanese restaurant. The fish was hot and tasted old, the owner was rude and stopped allowing us to order food even though we clearly paid for all you can eat at 22 dollars per person. We had 8 people at the table so this was obviously enough revenue compared to the typical table for two. I had business guests with me so the experience overall was an embarrassment for both me and the owner of this establishment.

As a long time Sushi Asahi loyalist, I am disappointed to write this review. I’ve been coming to both Asahi locations since my days in college at UCR(2007.) The reason Asahi was the best place for AYCE was the amount of rice they put under their sushi — more fish and little rice ratio. This was definitely key. Unfortunately, after visiting the Corona location last night, I noticed they have become like any other AYCE sushi place and are now trying to stuff their sushi with heaps of rice at an attempt to get patrons full quicker. The same applies with their hand rolls — completely stuffed with rice. Some of their rolls also lacked presentation and came out looking unappetizing. We went during an off-peak hour(4pm) and the restaurant wasn’t crowded so there really shouldn’t be any rush making the rolls since dinner rush didn’t arrive yet. On the flip side, service was on point. We had our waters consistently refilled and were checked up on frequently. Each one of our waiters/waitresses were beyond friendly. I understand the original owner of Asahi has moved to Sushi One Spot but I guess my naivety thought the new owners would try to keep the prior owner’s business model since it has proven successful. I thought wrong. So. So. Disappointed. Will be eating elsewhere for AYCE sushi now.

The scallop is very plain. I used to be able to order scallop sushi at asahi with things more than just what i believe is plain mayo. They used to have very little rice. Now it’s like double of what it used to be, so i get full really fast. Most of their sushi still taste great. The service isnt quite as fast as it used to be. Back then, our plates never stack up on our table because someone is always going around taking them away. When we went yesterday, it took awhile. The number of uni per person has changed. Used to be 2/person. Now it’s just one. Im guessing this asahi and the other one in van buren are of different managements now because the van buren has more appetizers such as takoyaki and 2/person uni. Ill still come back though because there’s really only two choices of sushi places in riverside. This asahi or the other one. In my bf’s words, «the sushi here tastes good, but the service is better at the other one.

I’m very disappointed… I’ve been here a couple times before, and it was pretty good. But unfortunately, it was pretty awful this time around. I usually have room for way more sushi but barely beginning round two, I was having a hard time finishing the food. I threw up for the first time ever from eating sushi(or anything really) and I believe I’ve got food poisoning. Thanks a lot ;-;

Service is typically fast when you sit at the sushi bar. AYCE is decent price, about $ 20 for dinner. You fill out the paper given with the menu and hand it over to the sushi chief over the counter and they make it for you! Really easy :) the menu comes w/photos which is helpful and a description of what is inside and on top of the roll. The fish here are usually fresh. Recommended rolls –Jen Jen(salmon) no rice –Nichelle(3 kinds of fish) no rice –pink lady –monkey balls –asahi roll

Great AYCE sushi place. Actually wanted to go back in college but never ended up going. Lots of variety in their sushi and you’ll want to try them all! But you best strategize what you eat and go with your friends cause… we didn’t strategize and between the four of us it was a struggle to finish the last couple plates. A hard struggle. But a delicious struggle. Highly recommend the salmon in spicy mayo on the tempura chip– thing. I don’t remember the name but that was my favorite. Also, their green tea ice cream at the end was really creamy!

In the quest for the best AYCE sushi, Asahi is a solid contender. If I’d have to bring someone to try sushi, this is my go-to location. It is absolutely rock-solid consistent in its quality. The majority of the fish is absolutely amazing every single visit. I have only had issue with the tuna(during one visit) being of poor cut/quality. The uni is top-tier and delicious, and it is one of the few locations that offer crab. I only wish that Asahi had better(more consistent) tuna, added halibut to the menu, and was in a larger location(seating options are very limited for large parties). Overall, it’s the most rock-solid location for AYCE. I’ll definitely be visiting again soon!

This place is the best in Corona. However, do not confuse it with the Asahi in Riverside as they are not related at all. I would rate them higher, except I always feel rushed. I once went when a group of friends and we had ordered some pitchers of beer. We finished eating before we finished the beer, when the server walked up to us and asked us to leave because they needed the table. I flatly point to the pitcher of beer, for which the server apologized and then stood about a foot was waiting for us to leave. Talk about feeling unwelcome. It would have been different if we were there for like an hour after we were done eating… But it was immediately after we were done eating.

Great for the price! Quality of the fish was above expectation for an AYCE joint. I liked that the chefs did not pack excessive amounts of rice under each piece of fish. We came around opening for lunch and received speedy service. Green tea ice cream at the end… :0)

Came in to eat dinner on New Years with my sisters and her boyfriend on a busy night, and being that it was my first time here, I did not expect much. However, I was impressed with the service i received. Jerry, our waiter was very personable, and attentive. He consistently came by to check in on us, and made sure we had everything. The staffs were great as well as it is evident that they work together as a team. I even had my water refilled without having to ask! The food was great. Thank you to the person who made our food! and to the chef who created this rose plate, it made us smile. The warm, friendly service continued as we were greeted warmly as we left. I will definitely come again. Thank you for a great start to my new year!

My sisters and I, plus my sister’s boyfriend came here for dinner on New Year. When we first arrived, it was pretty crowded, like all AYCE sushi and we were debating whether we should wait or go elsewhere. I was glad we decided to wait because the service was wonderful. I was pleasantly surprised by each servings, as it tasted great and the presentation was spectacular. Despite it being a holiday, the food came out pretty quick and got all of our orders down. Our waiter, Jerry was very friendly and attentive. He made sure we all had a great time, so he made our dinner very enjoyable. The staffs and sushi chefs were very friendly as well and we were greeted happily upon entering and exiting. Therefore, I was glad I got to spend the new year with great food and service. THANKYOU for a great start in the New Year. I HIGHLY recommend this place for small or large parties. I was very surprised and adored all the artwork on the servings. :) it was my first time at this location and I was highly impressed by the warm and friendly atmosphere. P. S. the red bean and green tea ice cream were DELICIOUS! :)

I remember eating AYCE sushi for the first time at this place, after my UCR friends took me here a few years ago. Back then, Asahi blew my mind. $ 20 for all you can eat sushi and rolls? Asahi quickly became a hot spot anytime I visited Riverside. Fast forward to 2015. Finally took my friend here after years of raving about it. But here’s the thing, my taste buds have changed since I was a junior in college. I don’t consider myself a sushi expert, but I can tell the difference between awesome and average quality sushi. So let’s get to it. We came on a cold Monday night, and it was packed to the brim as usual. We waited only 20 minutes for what was supposed to be a 40 minute wait. So don’t be daunted by a list of 10 groups, as about half of them bailed. They have plenty of heaters outside to keep you warm. The coffee shop next door has wifi so I suggest grabbing a drink while you wait so you can surf your phone on wifi. Now for the food. We got a healthy amount of rolls, such as the rainbow, riverside, spider, stuffed tomato, and racked on the sushi. The fish to rice ratio on the sushi is perfect. They don’t try to make you full off too much rice. The seared tuna sushi was so flavorful we had to order it twice. The uni(not on the menu but available) was way too soft and creamy(according to my friend), but I’m not a fan of uni to begin with. Here’s the thing about the rolls. Whether it’s baked, deep fried, or whatever kind of crazy they do to their«special» rolls, rolls in itself are not worth it and end up tasting very very average. If you really want to take advantage of AYCE sushi, you really have to focus on the fresh fish. Everything else is just filler, since all the rolls are either a cali roll or spicy tuna base for the most part. The quality of the fish and rolls is pretty average. But the $ 22 price tag is just too good to pass up since you can get 2 normal rolls anywhere else for the same price. So come here with a compromise in quality in mind. Don’t expect NOBU quality despite the 4 star rating. The service is also questionable, since the servers never know what roll they’re giving you, but that comes with the AYCE territory. I’m perfectly fine with servers giving me rolls I didn’t order. They’re very attentive though, so that’s a plus. This place may not be the same place I have been dreaming of in college, but you really get what you pay for, and that’s not bad at all!

I’ve never had a problem coming here to have awesome AYCE sushi. There is always a line but if you have a large party you can call ahead to reserve a spot. Salmon is delicious and totally worth getting 20 pieces, that’s where you get your money’s worth. The pieces are all buttery and fresh. There are some items, like uni and oysters, that is only during dinner time and one per customer but that’s not what you’re here for anyways. Only downfall is that it’s really far from where I am and it’s not super topnotch sushi.

Came here with my lady and we went HAM on some AYCE sushi. For AYCE, it was not too bad. As #thriftyballers we stuck with the expensive stuff to make sure we were getting the best return on investment. Stick to the Nigiri and you’ll be fine. Salmon and Yellowtail were the best. I’m not too big of a putting everything and their mom’s spaghetti on a sushi roll, but they have them here. I find them to be way too filling and take away from what sushi really is. Plus the idea of cream cheese and rice really upsets me. All in all, great place for some AYCE sushi if you’re in the area or coming back from Vegas. Otherwise, Corona is very far from civilization.

This place gets 3⁄5 stars for 4 reasons. 1. It took them 15 minutes to come grab our order(even after we put our menus away so they can see we were ready) and all four waiters were by the front door chit chatting. 2. We finished our drinks by the time they took our order and didn’t refill until we ordered round two. 3. We had an older lady bring us our food and every time she would come she would do that cough to get people’s attention instead of talking. 4. The miso soup was literally like broth and chives and it tasted gross. Typically at other places it has tofu and has really great flavor. The plus side is that the host greeted us, sat us down, and brought our drinks quickly. The squid was perfect! Also they had a guy cleaning up the tables right away so there was never a clutter of dishes. The place was very well kept and clean. Would I recommend this place? No Would I return? Only if I had a strong craving for fresh squid Recommendations — be prompt & courteous

One of the best sushi places I’ve ever been to. I Went for AYCE sushi for lunch and it was super delish(~$ 18). The fish was fresh, they had different items that I’ve never seen on any sushi menu before(monkey balls were super good, and definitely different and interesting… Mushrooms stuffed with crab and fried in tempura). They have an excellent Happy hour m-th all day, that includes $ 1 beer/sake.(Don’t quote me on that, It might be $ 2.) But whatever it is its super cheap. I can’t remember the names of everything we had but I assure you, you can’t go wrong with what you order here.

I love sushi. I really do. FIRSTTIP: Bring your Student ID for $ 1 off the bill! Coming in to Sushi Asahi in Corona, I was ready. And by that, I meant I had eaten a full breakfast and it was only 3 hours later: P. My friend met me here and she was excited for AYCE sushi! We decided to attack this one first because this one was«better» service-wise. Get their salmon, their escolar, their seared salmon. They have tuna, albacore, they’re all so delicious! Smooth and mhm mhm mhm. Yes, they’re not the best quality but that’s because they are ayce! :) And yes, this is a bit better than Sake 2 Me(which I still love because it was my first time AYCEing!). They have three rounds here, and before each round, they tell you«Are you sure you’ll finish?» Because if you can’t finish, they shall charge thee money. If you’re sure, go ahead, strap in your seat belt, and eat eat eat! I love how their fish is fresh. They have a decent sized restaurant that can seat ~20 tables. Hmmm what more can I say. I didn’t really talk about the sushi but that’s because you yourself have to try it and find what you like. I’d really love their salmon. Raw fish is pretty much something you’re gonna have to eat if you wanna get your money’s worth: P Rice-fish ratio is pretty good as well(: Then save your stomach for the green tea ice cream. Mine wasn’t the best because it had freezer burn/was tough, but my friend’s was good(:

Don’t know why it took me some time to write a review about this place. First let me start by saying this is the best sushi place in the Corona-Norco area. Located at the Corona Hills shopping center close to the 99 Ranch market and Costco, the parking is a hit or miss, Saturday nights the place gets packed and you may end up parking close to McDonald’s and stand in front of the restaurant for 30 — 45 minutes but it’s worth the wait. The service is fast and friendly and the atmosphere is awesome, you’ll see a mixture of families and groups of friends enjoying their meal. The music is not too loud except when somebody is celebrating their birthday then the staff would play this loud club music until this music turns into a happy birthday song, I’ve celebrated my birthday here once and did this to me, all eyes on me but hey I enjoyed that free green tea ice cream! Now on the food part, I’ve tried their AYCE and it’s a great value if you know you can eat a lot. The fish tastes fresh and the balance between the salty, sweet and spicy is always present on most of their specialty rolls. But the dish that stands out among the rest is the chef’s plate. This is my favorite of all. Chefs plate is a variety of sashimi presented perfectly like a secret garden. Oh the chef really knows how to make this plate. The fish always taste fresh and it’s perfect for those trying to avoid white rice. It’s great for sharing and it packs a lot of flavor. Overall I’m giving this place 5 stars for their service, the taste of their food, the quality of their fish, the price is just right and the ambiance is awesome.
